1 G iô-tham được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi người lên ngôi làm vua, và người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; mẹ người tên là Giê-ru-sa, con gái của Xa-đốc.

Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.

2 N gười làm điều thiện trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, y theo mọi điều Ô-xia, cha người, đã làm; song người không vào đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va; còn dân sự lại càng làm luông tuồng nữa.

He did right in the sight of the Lord, to the extent of all that his father Uzziah had done. However, he did not invade the temple of the Lord. But the people still did corruptly.

3 N gười xây cửa trên của đền Đức Giê-hô-va, và xây nhiều trên tường thành Ô-phên.

He built the Upper Gate of the Lord’s house and did much building on the wall of Ophel.

4 N gười cũng xây những thành trong miền núi Giu-đa, và đền đài cùng những tháp ở trên rừng.

Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built forts and towers.

5 N gười đánh giặc với vua dân Am-môn, và thắng được chúng. Trong năm đó, dân Am-môn nộp cho người một trăm ta lâng bạc một vạn cô-rơ lúa miến, và một vạn cô-rơ lúc mạch. Trong năm thứ nhì và thứ ba, dân Am-môn cũng tiến cống người số ấy.

He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. The Ammonites gave him that year 100 talents of silver and 10, 000 measures each of wheat and of barley. That much the Ammonites paid to him also the second year and third year.

6 V ậy, Giô-tham trở nên cường thạnh, bởi vì người đi đường chánh đáng trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, là Đức Chúa Trời mình.

So Jotham grew mighty, for he ordered his ways in the sight of the Lord his God.

7 C ác công việc khác của Giô-tham, hết thảy những chiến trận và đường lối của người, đều chép trong sách các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên và Giu-đa.

Now the rest of Jotham’s acts, and all his wars and his ways, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

8 N gười được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi lên làm vua, và người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.

He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.

9 N gười an giấc cùng tổ tiên mình, người ta chôn người tại trong thành Đa-vít; đoạn A-cha, con trai người, cai trị thế cho người.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
