1 C húng tôi há lại bắt đầu tự phô mình, hay là như người khác cần có thơ gởi gắm cho anh em, hoặc nhờ thơ gởi gắm của anh em sao?

Are we starting to commend ourselves again? Or we do not, like some, need written credentials or letters of recommendation to you or from you, ?

2 A áy chính anh em là thơ gởi gắm của chúng tôi, viết trong lòng chúng tôi, mọi người đều biết và đều đọc.

you yourselves are our letter of recommendation (our credentials), written in your hearts, to be known (perceived, recognized) and read by everybody.

3 V ả, rõ thật rằng anh em là bức thơ của Đấng Christ, bởi chức vụ chúng tôi viết ra, chẳng phải viết bằng mực, nhưng bằng Thánh Linh của Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống, chẳng phải viết trên bảng đá, nhưng trên bảng thịt, tức là trên lòng anh em.

You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with Spirit of living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

4 N ầy là sự tin chắc của chúng tôi nhờ Đấng Christ mà có trong Đức Chúa Trời:

Such is the reliance and confidence that we have through Christ toward and with reference to God.

5 k hông phải tự mình chúng tôi có tài năng mà nghĩ việc gì như bởi chính mình chúng tôi, nhưng tài năng của chúng tôi đến từ Đức Chúa Trời;

Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.

6 v à ấy là Ngài đã ban tài năng cho chúng tôi giúp việc giao ước mới, chẳng phải giao ước về chữ, bèn là giao ước về Thánh Linh; vì chữ làm cho chết, song Thánh Linh làm cho sống.

Who has qualified us as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant, not of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code kills, but the Spirit makes alive.

7 V ả, nếu chức vụ về sự chết, chạm chữ trên bảng đá, đã là vinh hiển lắm đến nỗi con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên không có thể ngó trên mặt Môi-se, vì cớ sự sáng láng trên mặt người, dầu là tạm,

Now if the dispensation of death engraved in letters on stone, was inaugurated with such glory and splendor that the Israelites were not able to look steadily at the face of Moses because of its brilliance, that was to fade and pass away,

8 p hương chi chức vụ của Thánh Linh càng vinh hiển hơn biết bao!

Why should not the dispensation of the Spirit '> ministry whose task it is to cause men to obtain and be governed by the Holy Spirit] be attended with much greater and more splendid glory?

9 V ậy, nếu chức vụ về sự định tội còn được vinh hiển, thì chức vụ về sự công bình được vinh hiển hơn bội phần.

For if the service that condemns had glory, how infinitely more abounding in splendor and glory must be the service that makes righteous!

10 V ả lại, cái điều được bồi hoàn trong chức vụ thứ nhứt biến đi bởi sự vinh hiển rất cao hơn của chức vụ thứ nhì;

Indeed, in view of this fact, what once had splendor '> the glory of the Law in the face of Moses] has come to have no splendor at all, because of the overwhelming glory that exceeds and excels it '> the glory of the Gospel in the face of Jesus Christ].

11 v ì nếu sự phải qua đi còn có lúc vinh hiển thay, phương chi sự bền ở sẽ có vinh hiển dường nào nữa!

For if that which was but passing and fading away came with splendor, how much more must that which remains and is permanent abide in glory and splendor!

12 V ậy, chúng ta có sự trông cậy dường ấy, nên được rất tự do,

Since we have such hope (such joyful and confident expectation), we speak very freely and openly and fearlessly.

13 c húng ta chẳng làm như Môi-se lấy màn che mặt mình, hầu cho con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên không trông thấy cuối cùng của sự sáng láng phải qua.

Nor like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze upon the finish of the vanishing.

14 N hưng lòng họ đã cứng cỏi; vì đến ngày nay, khi họ đọc Cựu Ước, cái màn ấy vẫn còn chưa cất khỏi, bởi chưng ấy là trong Đấng Christ mà màn đó biến đi.

In fact, their minds were grown hard and calloused; for until this present day, when the Old Testament (the old covenant) is being read, that same veil still lies, not being lifted that in Christ it is made void and done away.

15 A áy vậy, cho đến ngày nay, mỗi lần người ta đọc sách Môi-se cho họ, cái màn ấy vẫn còn ở trên lòng họ.

Yes, down to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies upon their minds and hearts.

16 K hi họ sẽ trở lại cùng Chúa, thì màn ấy mới cất khỏi.

But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away.

17 V ả, Chúa tức là Thánh Linh, Thánh Linh của Chúa ở đâu, thì sự tự do cũng ở đó.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).

18 C húng ta ai nấy đều để mặt trần mà nhìn xem vinh hiển Chúa như trong gương, thì hóa nên cũng một ảnh tượng Ngài, từ vinh hiển qua vinh hiển, như bởi Chúa, là Thánh Linh.

And all of us, as with unveiled face, continued to behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; from the Lord the Spirit.
