1 L uận về sự đến của Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, và về sự chúng ta hội hiệp cùng Ngài,

But relative to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and our gathering together to Him, we beg you, brethren,

2 t hì, hỡi anh em, xin chớ vội bối rối và kinh hoàng hoặc bởi thần cảm giả mạo, hoặc bởi lời nói hay là bởi bức thơ nào tựa như chúng tôi đã gởi mà nói rằng ngày Chúa gần đến.

Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled or disturbed or kept excited or alarmed, whether it be by some revelation of Spirit or by word or by letter from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has arrived and is here.

3 M ặc ai dùng cách nào, cũng đừng để họ lừa dối mình. Vì phải có sự bỏ đạo đến trước, và có người tội ác, con của sự hư mất hiện ra,

Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first '> falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),

4 t ức là kẻ đối địch, tôn mình lên trên mọi sự mà người ta xưng là Đức Chúa Trời hoặc người ta thờ lạy, rất đỗi ngồi trong đền Đức Chúa Trời, chính mình tự xưng là Đức Chúa Trời.

Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and insolently against and over all that is called God or that is worshiped, taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God.

5 A nh em há không nhớ khi tôi còn ở với anh em, thì đã nói về những sự đó sao?

Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you these things?

6 H iện nay anh em biết rõ điều làm ngăn trở nó, hầu cho nó chỉ hiện ra đúng kỳ nó thôi.

And now you know what is restraining him; it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own time.

7 V ì đã có sự mầu nhiệm của điều bội nghịch đương hành động rồi; song Đấng còn ngăn trở cần phải cất đi.

For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way.

8 B ấy giờ kẻ nghịch cùng luật pháp kia sẽ hiện ra, Đức Chúa Jêsus sẽ dùng hơi miệng Ngài mà hủy diệt nó, và trừ bỏ nó bởi sự chói sáng của sự Ngài đến.

And then the lawless one (the antichrist) will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by His appearing at His coming.

9 K ẻ đó sẽ lấy quyền của quỉ Sa-tan mà hiện đến, làm đủ mọi thứ phép lạ, dấu dị và việc kỳ dối giả;

The coming is through the activity and working of Satan and will be attended by great power and with all sorts of miracles and signs and delusive marvels— lying wonders—

10 d ùng mọi cách phỉnh dổ không công bình mà dổ những kẻ hư mất, vì chúng nó đã không nhận lãnh sự yêu thương của lẽ thật để được cứu rỗi.

And by unlimited seduction to evil and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing (going to perdition) because they did not welcome the Truth but refused to love it that they might be saved.

11 A áy vì thế mà Đức Chúa Trời cho chúng nó mắc phải sự lầm lạc, là sự khiến chúng nó tin điều dối giả,

Therefore God sends upon them a misleading influence, a working of error and a strong delusion to make them believe what is false,

12 h ầu cho hết thảy những người không tin lẽ thật, song chuộng sự không công bình, điều bị phục dưới sự phán xét của Ngài.

In order that all may be judged and condemned who did not believe in the Truth, but took pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 H ỡi anh em yêu dấu của Chúa, còn như chúng tôi, phải vì anh em tạ ơn Đức Chúa Trời không thôi, vì vừa lúc ban đầu, Ngài đã chọn anh em bởi sự nên thánh của Thánh Linh, và bởi tin lẽ thật, đặng ban sự cứu rỗi cho anh em.

But we, brethren beloved by the Lord, ought and are obligated to give thanks always to God for you, because God chose you from the beginning as His firstfruits (first converts) for salvation through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and belief in (adherence to, trust in, and reliance on) the Truth.

14 A áy cũng là vì đó mà Ngài đã dùng Tin Lành chúng tôi gọi anh em, đặng anh em hưởng được sự vinh hiển của Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta.

to this end that He called you through our Gospel, so that you may obtain and share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

15 H ỡi anh em, vậy thì hãy đứng vững, hãy vâng giữ những điều dạy dỗ mà chúng tôi đã truyền cho anh em, hoặc bằng lời nói, hoặc bằng thơ từ của chúng tôi.

So then, brethren, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions and instructions which you were taught by us, whether by our word of mouth or by letter.

16 N guyền xin chính Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta, và Đức Chúa Trời Cha chúng ta, là Đấng đã yêu thương chúng ta, và đã lấy ân điển mà ban cho chúng ta sự yên ủi đời đời và sự trông cậy tốt lành,

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, Who loved us and gave us everlasting consolation and encouragement and well-founded hope through grace (unmerited favor),

17 h ãy yên ủi lòng anh em, khiến anh em được bền vững trong mọi việc lành cùng mọi lời nói lành.

Comfort and encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.
