1 Đ ấng Christ đã buông tha chúng ta cho được tự do; vậy hãy đứng vững, chớ lại để mình dưới ách tôi mọi nữa.

In freedom Christ has made us free; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery.

2 T ôi là Phao-lô nói với anh em rằng, nếu anh em chịu làm phép cắt bì, thì Đấng Christ không bổ ích chi cho anh em hết.

Notice, it is I, Paul, who tells you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no profit (advantage, avail) to you '> for if you distrust Him, you can gain nothing from Him].

3 T ôi lại rao cho mọi người chịu cắt bì rằng, họ buộc phải vâng giữ trọn cả luật pháp.

I once more protest and testify to every man who receives circumcision that he is under obligation and bound to practice the whole of the Law and its ordinances.

4 A nh em thảy đều muốn cậy luật pháp cho được xưng công bình, thì đã lìa khỏi Đấng Christ, mất ân điển rồi.

If you seek to be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God through the Law, you are brought to nothing and so separated (severed) from Christ. You have fallen away from grace (from God’s gracious favor and unmerited blessing).

5 V ề phần chúng ta, ấy là bởi đức tin và nhờ Thánh Linh mà chúng ta được nhận lãnh sự trông cậy của sự công bình.

For we, through the Spirit’s, by faith anticipate and wait for the blessing and good for which our righteousness and right standing with God '> conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action, causes us] to hope.

6 V ì trong Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ, cái điều có giá trị, không phải tại chịu phép cắt bì hoặc không chịu phép cắt bì, nhưng tại đức tin hay làm ra bởi sự yêu thương vậy.

For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love.

7 A nh em chạy giỏi; ai đã ngăn trở anh em đặng không cho vâng phục lẽ thật?

You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (hindered and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?

8 S ự xui giục đó không phải đến từ Đấng gọi anh em.

This persuasion is not from Him Who called you.

9 M ột ít men làm cho dậy cả đống bột.

A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump.

10 T rong Chúa, tôi đối với anh em có lòng tin cậy nầy, là anh em chắc không có ý khác; nhưng kẻ làm rối trí anh em, bất luận người nào, sẽ chịu hình phạt về điều đó.

I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no contrary view of the matter but will come to think with me. But he who is unsettling you, whoever he is, will have to bear the penalty.

11 H ỡi anh em, về phần tôi, nếu tôi còn giảng phép cắt bì, thì sao tôi còn bị bắt bớ nữa? Sự vấp phạm về thập tự giá há chẳng phải bỏ hết rồi sao?

But, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still suffering persecution? In that case the cross has ceased to be a stumbling block and is made meaningless (done away).

12 N guyền cho kẻ gieo sự rối loạn trong anh em thà họ tự chặt mình là hơn!

I wish those who unsettle and confuse you would '> go all the way and] cut themselves off!

13 H ỡi anh em, anh em đã được gọi đến sự tự do, song chớ lấy sự tự do đó làm dịp cho anh em ăn ở theo tánh xác thịt, nhưng hãy lấy lòng yêu thương làm đầy tớ lẫn nhau.

For you, brethren, were called to freedom; only freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse '> selfishness], but through love you should serve one another.

14 V ì cả luật pháp chỉ tóm lại trong một lời nầy: Ngươi hãy yêu kẻ lân cận như mình.

For the whole Law is complied with in the one precept, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

15 N hưng nếu anh em cắn nuốt nhau, thì hãy giữ, kẻo kẻ nầy bị diệt mất bởi kẻ khác.

But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you are not consumed by one another.

16 V ậy tôi nói rằng: Hãy bước đi theo Thánh Linh, chớ hề làm trọn những điều ưa muốn của xác thịt.

But I say, walk and live in the Spirit; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

17 V ì xác thịt có những điều ưa muốn trái với của Thánh Linh, Thánh Linh có những điều ưa muốn trái với của xác thịt; hai bên trái nhau dường ấy, nên anh em không làm được điều mình muốn làm.

For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other, so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.

18 N hưng, ví bằng anh em nhờ Thánh Linh chỉ dẫn, thì chẳng hề ở dưới luật pháp.

But if you are guided (led) by the Spirit, you are not subject to the Law.

19 V ả, các việc làm của xác thịt là rõ ràng lắm: ấy là gian dâm, ô uế, luông tuồng,

Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,

20 t hờ hình tượng, phù phép, thù oán, tranh đấu, ghen ghét, buồn giận, cãi lẫy, bất bình, bè đảng,

Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),

21 g anh gổ, say sưa, mê ăn uống, cùng các sự khác giống như vậy. Tôi nói trước cho anh em, như tôi đã nói rồi: hễ ai phạm những việc thể ấy thì không được hưởng nước Đức Chúa Trời.

Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 N hưng trái của Thánh Linh, ấy là lòng yêu thương, sự vui mừng, bình an, nhịn nhục, nhơn từ, hiền lành, trung tín, mềm mại, tiết độ:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,

23 k hông có luật pháp nào cấm các sự đó.

Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law '> that can bring a charge].

24 V ả, những kẻ thuộc về Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ đã đóng đinh xác thịt với tình dục và dâm dục mình trên thập tự giá rồi.

And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.

25 N ếu chúng ta nhờ Thánh Linh mà sống, thì cũng hãy bước theo Thánh Linh vậy.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. '> we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]

26 C hớ tìm kiếm danh vọng giả dối mà trêu chọc nhau và ghen ghét nhau.

Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.
