1 Đ ức Chúa Jêsus nhóm họp mười hai sứ đồ, ban quyền năng phép tắc để trị quỉ chữa bịnh.

Then Jesus called together the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases,

2 R ồi Ngài sai để rao giảng về nước Đức Chúa Trời cùng chữa lành kẻ có bịnh.

And He sent them out to announce and preach the kingdom of God and to bring healing.

3 N gài dạy rằng: Đi đường chớ đem gì theo hết, hoặc gậy, hoặc bao, hoặc bánh, hoặc tiền bạc; cũng đừng đem hai áo.

And He said to them, Do not take anything for your journey—neither walking stick, nor wallet, nor food of any kind, nor money, and do not have two undergarments (tunics).

4 H ễ các ngươi vào nhà nào, hãy ở đó cho đến khi đi.

And whatever house you enter, stay there until you go away.

5 C òn ai không tiếp rước các ngươi, hãy ra khỏi thành họ, và phủi bụi chơn mình để làm chứng nghịch cùng họ.

And wherever they do not receive and accept and welcome you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet, as a testimony against them.

6 V ậy, các sứ đồ ra đi, từ làng nầy tới làng kia, rao giảng Tin Lành khắp nơi và chữa lành người có bịnh.

And departing, they went about from village to village, preaching the Gospel and restoring the afflicted to health everywhere.

7 B ấy giờ, Hê rốt là vua chư hầu, nghe nói về các việc xảy ra, thì không biết nghĩ làm sao; vì kẻ nầy nói rằng: Giăng đã từ kẻ chết sống lại;

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was being done by, and he was perplexed and troubled, because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead,

8 k ẻ khác nói rằng: Ê-li đã hiện ra; và kẻ khác nữa thì rằng: Một trong các đấng tiên tri đời xưa đã sống lại.

And by others that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the prophets of old had come back to life.

9 S ong Hê-rốt thì nói: Ta đã truyền chém Giăng rồi: vậy người nầy là ai, mà ta nghe làm những việc dường ấy? Vua bèn tìm cách thấy Đức Chúa Jêsus.

But Herod said, John I beheaded; but Who is this about Whom I such things by hearsay? And he sought to see Him.

10 C ác sứ đồ trở về trình cùng Đức Chúa Jêsus mọi việc mình đã làm. Ngài bèn đem các sứ đồ đi tẻ ra với mình đến gần thành kia gọi là Bết-sai-đa.

Upon their return, the apostles reported to Jesus all that they had done. And He took them and withdrew into privacy near a town called Bethsaida.

11 N hưng dân chúng nghe vậy, thì đi theo Ngài. Đức Chúa Jêsus tiếp đãi dân chúng, giảng cho họ về nước Đức Chúa Trời, và chữa cho những kẻ cần được lành bịnh.

But when the crowds learned of it, followed Him; and He welcomed them and talked to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed restoration to health.

12 K hi gần tối, mười hai sứ đồ đến gần Ngài mà thưa rằng: Xin truyền cho dân chúng về, để họ đến các làng các ấy xung quanh mà trọ và kiếm chi ăn; vì chúng ta ở đây là nơi vắng vẻ.

Now the day began to decline, and the Twelve came and said to Him, Dismiss the crowds and send them away, so that they may go to the neighboring hamlets and villages and the surrounding country and find lodging and get a supply of provisions, for we are here in an uninhabited (barren, solitary) place.

13 S ong Ngài phán rằng: Chính các ngươi hãy cho họ ăn. Các sứ đồ thưa rằng: Ví thử chính mình chúng tôi không đi mua đồ ăn cho hết thảy dân nầy, thì chỉ có năm cái bánh và hai con cá mà thôi.

But He said to them, You give them to eat. They said, We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all this crowd,

14 V ả, bấy giờ có độ năm ngàn người nam ở đó. Ngài bèn phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Hãy biểu chúng ngồi từng hàng năm mươi người.

For there were about 5, 000 men. And said to His disciples, Have them reclining in table groups (companies) of about fifty each.

15 M ôn đồ làm theo lời; chúng ngồi xuống hết thảy.

And they did so, and made them all recline.

16 Đ oạn, Đức Chúa Jêsus lấy năm cái bánh và hai con cá, ngước mắt lên trời, chúc tạ, rồi bẻ ra trao cho môn đồ, đặng phát cho đoàn dân.

And taking the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven and gave thanks and asked Him to bless them. Then He broke them and gave them to the disciples to place before the multitude.

17 A i nấy ăn no rồi, người ta thâu được mười hai giỏ đầy những miếng thừa.

And all the people ate and were satisfied. And they gathered up what remained over—twelve '> small hand] baskets of broken pieces.

18 M ột ngày kia, Đức Chúa Jêsus đang cầu nguyện riêng, môn đồ nhóm lại xung quanh Ngài, Ngài hỏi rằng: Trong dân chúng, họ nói ta là ai?

Now it occurred that as Jesus was praying privately, the disciples were with Him, and He asked them, Who do men say that I am?

19 T hưa rằng: Người nầy nói là Giăng Báp-tít, người kia nói là Ê-li; kẻ khác nói là một trong các đấng tiên tri đời xưa sống lại.

And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, that one of the ancient prophets has come back to life.

20 N gài lại hỏi rằng: Còn về phần các ngươi thì nói ta là ai? Phi -e-rơ thưa rằng: Thầy là Đấng Christ của Đức Chúa Trời.

And He said to them, But who do you say that I am? And Peter replied, The Christ of God!

21 Đ ức Chúa Jêsus nghiêm cấm môn đồ nói sự ấy với ai,

But He strictly charged and sharply commanded them '> under penalty] to tell this to no one '> whoever he might be],

22 v à phán thêm rằng: Con người phải chịu nhiều điều khốn khổ, phải bị các trưởng lão, các thầy tế lễ cả, và các thầy thông giáo bỏ ra, phải bị giết, ngày thứ ba phải sống lại.

Saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be '> deliberately] disapproved and repudiated and rejected on the part of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be put to death and on the third day be raised.

23 Đ oạn, Ngài phải cùng mọi người rằng: Nếu ai muốn theo ta, phải tự bỏ mình đi, mỗi ngày vác thập tự giá mình mà theo ta.

And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself '> disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me '> cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].

24 V ì ai muốn cứu sự sống mình thì sẽ mất, còn ai vì cớ ta mất sự sống, thì sẽ cứu.

For whoever would preserve his life and save it will lose and destroy it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he will preserve and save it '> from the penalty of eternal death].

25 N ếu ai được cả thiên hạ, mà chính mình phải mất hoặc hư đi, thì có ích gì?

For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself?

26 V ì nếu ai hổ thẹn về ta và lời ta, thì Con người sẽ hổ thẹn về họ, khi Ngài ngự trong sự vinh hiển của mình, của Cha, và của thiên sứ thánh mà đến.

Because whoever is ashamed of Me and of My teachings, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when He comes in the '> threefold] glory (the splendor and majesty) of Himself and of the Father and of the holy angels.

27 Q uả thật, ta nói cùng các ngươi, một vài người trong các ngươi đương đứng đây sẽ không chết trước khi chưa thấy nước Đức Chúa Trời.

However I tell you truly, there are some of those standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.

28 Đ ộ tám ngày sau khi phán các lời đó, Đức Chúa Jêsus đem Phi -e-rơ, Giăng và Gia-cơ đi với mình lên trên núi để cầu nguyện.

Now about eight days after these teachings, Jesus took with Him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

29 Đ ương khi cầu nguyện, diện mạo Ngài khác thường, áo Ngài trở nên sắc trắng chói lòa.

And as He was praying, the appearance of His countenance became altered (different), and His raiment became dazzling white '> flashing with the brilliance of lightning].

30 V à nầy, có hai người nói chuyện cùng Ngài; ấy là Môi-se và Ê-li,

And behold, two men were conversing with Him—Moses and Elijah,

31 h iện ra trong sự vinh hiển, và nói về sự Ngài qua đời, là sự sẽ phải ứng nghiệm tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.

Who appeared in splendor and majesty and brightness and were speaking of His exit, which He was about to bring to realization at Jerusalem.

32 P hi -e-rơ cùng đồng bạn mình buồn ngủ lắm, nhưng vừa tỉnh thức ra, thấy vinh hiển của Đức Chúa Jêsus và hai đấng ấy đứng gần Ngài.

Now Peter and those with him were weighed down with sleep, but when they fully awoke, they saw His glory (splendor and majesty and brightness) and the two men who stood with Him.

33 L úc hai đấng ấy lìa khỏi Đức Chúa Jêsus, Phi -e-rơ thưa Ngài rằng: Thưa thầy, chúng ta ở đây tốt lắm, hãy đóng ba trại, một cái cho thầy, một cái cho Môi-se và một cái cho Ê-li. Vì Phi -e-rơ không biết mình nói chi.

And it occurred as the men were parting from Him that Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is delightful and good that we are here; and let us construct three booths or huts—one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah! not noticing or knowing what he was saying.

34 K hi người còn đương nói, có một đám mây kéo đến, bao phủ lấy; và khi vào trong đám mây, các môn đồ đều sợ hãi.

But even as he was saying this, a cloud came and began to overshadow them, and they were seized with alarm and struck with fear as they entered into the cloud.

35 B ấy giờ, nghe có tiếng từ trong đám mây phán ra rằng: Nầy là Con ta, Người được lựa chọn của ta, hãy nghe Người.

Then there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, My Chosen One or My Beloved; listen to and yield to and obey Him!

36 K hi tiếng ấy phát ra, thì Đức Chúa Jêsus ở một mình. Các môn đồ nín lặng, không nói cùng ai về sự mình đã thấy.

And when the voice had died away, Jesus was found there alone. And they kept still, and told no one at that time any of these things that they had seen.

37 B ữa sau, khi Chúa cùng môn đồ từ núi xuống, có đoàn dân đông đến đón rước Ngài.

Now it occurred the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met Him.

38 M ột người trong đám đông kêu lên rằng: Lạy thầy, xin thầy đoái đến con trai tôi, vì là con một tôi.

And behold, a man from the crowd shouted out, Master, I implore You to look at my son, for he is my only child;

39 M ột quỉ ám nó, thình lình kêu la; quỉ vật vã nó dữ tợn, làm cho sôi bọt miếng, mình mẩy nát hết, rồi mới ra khỏi.

And behold, a spirit seizes him and suddenly he cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and he is sorely shattered, and it will scarcely leave him.

40 T ôi đã xin môn đồ thầy đuổi quỉ đó, nhưng họ đuổi không được.

And I implored Your disciples to drive it out, but they could not.

41 Đ ức Chúa Jêsus đáp rằng: Hỡi dòng dõi không tin và bội nghịch kia, ta ở với các ngươi và nhịn các ngươi cho đến chừng nào? Hãy đem con của ngươi lại đây.

Jesus answered, O unbelieving and without trust in God, a perverse ( wayward, crooked and warped) generation! Until when and how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.

42 Đ ứa con trai vừa lại gần, quỉ xô nó nhào xuống đất, và vật vã dữ tợn. Song Đức Chúa Jêsus quở nặng tà ma, chữa lành con trẻ ấy, và giao lại cho cha nó.

And even while he was coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. But Jesus censured and severely rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the child and restored him to his father.

43 A i nấy đều lấy làm lạ về quyền phép cao trọng của Đức Chúa Trời. Khi mọi người đang khen lạ các việc Đức Chúa Jêsus làm, Ngài phán cùng môn đồ rằng:

And all were astounded at the evidence of God’s mighty power and His majesty and magnificence. But they were all marveling at everything Jesus was doing, He said to His disciples,

44 V ề phần các ngươi, hãy nghe kỹ điều ta sẽ nói cùng: Con người sẽ bị nộp trong tay người ta.

Let these words sink into your ears: the Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men '> whose conduct is opposed to God].

45 N hưng các môn đồ không hiểu lời ấy, vì đã che khuất cho mình để chẳng rõ nghĩa làm sao; và sợ không dám hỏi Ngài về lời ấy.

However, they did not comprehend this saying; and it was kept hidden from them, so that they should not grasp it and understand, and they were afraid to ask Him about the statement.

46 C ác môn đồ biện luận cùng nhau cho biết ai là lớn hơn hết trong hàng mình.

But a controversy arose among them as to which of them might be the greatest.

47 N hưng Đức Chúa Jêsus biết ý tưởng trong lòng môn đồ, thì lấy một đứa con trẻ để gần mình,

But Jesus, as He perceived the thoughts of their hearts, took a little child and put him at His side

48 m à phán rằng: Hễ ai vì danh ta mà tiếp con trẻ nầy, tức là tiếp ta; còn ai tiếp ta, tức là tiếp Đấng đã sai ta. Vì kẻ nào hèn mọn hơn hết trong vòng các ngươi, ấy chính người đó là kẻ cao trọng.

And told them, Whoever receives and accepts and welcomes this child in My name and for My sake receives and accepts and welcomes Me; and whoever so receives Me so also receives Him Who sent Me. For he who is least and lowliest among you all—he is great.

49 G iăng cất tiếng nói rằng: Thưa thầy, chúng tôi từng thấy có kẻ nhơn danh thầy mà trừ quỉ; chúng tôi đã cấm họ, vì không cùng chúng tôi theo thầy.

John said, Master, we saw a man driving out demons in Your name and we commanded him to stop it, for he does not follow along with us.

50 N hưng Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Đừng cấm họ, vì ai không nghịch cùng các ngươi, là thuận với các ngươi.

But Jesus told him, Do not forbid; for whoever is not against you is for you.

51 K hi gần đến kỳ Đức Chúa Jêsus được đem lên khỏi thế gian, Ngài quyết định đi thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.

Now when the time was almost come for Jesus to be received up, He steadfastly and determinedly set His face to go to Jerusalem.

52 N gài sai kẻ đem tin đi trước mình. Họ ra đi, vào một làng của người Sa-ma-ri, để sửa soạn nhà trọ cho Ngài;

And He sent messengers before Him; and they reached and entered a Samaritan village to make ready for Him;

53 s ong người Sa-ma-ri không tiếp rước Ngài, vì Ngài đi thẳng lên thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.

But would not welcome or receive or accept Him, because His face was going to Jerusalem.

54 G ia-cơ và Giăng là môn đồ Ngài, thấy vậy, nói rằng: Thưa Chúa, Chúa có muốn chúng tôi khiến lửa từ trên trời xuống thiêu họ chăng?

And when His disciples James and John observed this, they said, Lord, do You wish us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did ?

55 N hưng Đức Chúa Jêsus xây lại quở hai người, mà rằng: Các ngươi không biết tâm thần nào xui giục mình.

But He turned and rebuked and severely censured them. He said, You do not know of what sort of spirit you are,

56 R ồi Ngài cùng môn đồ đi qua làng khác.

For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they journeyed on to another village.

57 Đ ang khi đi đường, có kẻ thưa Ngài rằng: Chúa đi đâu tôi sẽ theo đó.

And it occurred that as they were going along the road, a man said to Him, Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.

58 Đ ức Chúa Jêsus đáp rằng: Con cáo có hang, chim trời có ổ; song Con người không có chỗ mà gối đầu.

And Jesus told him, Foxes have lurking holes and the birds of the air have roosts and nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.

59 N gài phán cùng kẻ khác rằng: Ngươi hãy theo ta. Kẻ ấy thưa rằng: Xin cho phép tôi đi chôn cha tôi trước đã.

And He said to another, Become My disciple, side with My party, and accompany Me! But he replied, Lord, permit me first to go and bury ( await the death of) my father.

60 N hưng Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Hãy để kẻ chết chôn kẻ chết; còn ngươi, hãy đi rao giảng nước Đức Chúa Trời.

But Jesus said to him, Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and publish abroad throughout all regions the kingdom of God.

61 C ó kẻ khác nữa thưa rằng: Lạy Chúa, tôi sẽ theo Chúa, song xin cho phép tôi trước về từ giã người trong nhà tôi.

Another also said, I will follow You, Lord, and become Your disciple and side with Your party; but let me first say good-bye to those at my home.

62 Đ ức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Ai đã tra tay cầm cày, còn ngó lại đằng sau, thì không xứng đáng với nước Đức Chúa Trời.

Jesus said to him, No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.
