1 T hành nầy xưa vốn đông dân lắm, kìa nay ngồi một mình! Xưa vốn làm lớn giữa các dân, nay như đờn bà góa! Xưa vốn làm nữ chủ các quận, nay phải nộp thuế khóa!

How solitary and lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow has she become! She who was great among the nations and princess among the provinces has become a tributary!

2 N ó khóc nức nở ban đêm, nước mắt tràn đôi má. Mọi kẻ yêu mến nó, chẳng ai yên ủi nó. Bạn bè nó phản nó, đều trở nên nghịch thù.

She weeps bitterly in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers (allies) she has no one to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies.

3 G iu-đa đi làm phu tù, vì chịu nạn cùng chịu sai dịch nặng nề. Ở đậu giữa các dân, chẳng được chút nghỉ ngơi. Những kẻ bắt bớ đuổi theo nó, theo kịp nó nơi eo hẹp.

Judah has gone into exile from the affliction and laborious servitude. She dwells among the nations, but she finds no rest; all her persecutors overtook her amid the straits.

4 C ác đường lối Si-ôn đương thảm sầu, vì chẳng ai đến dự kỳ lễ trọng thể nữa. Mọi cửa thành hoang vu; các thầy tế lễ thở than; Các gái đồng trinh nó bị khốn nạn, chính nó phải chịu cay đắng.

The roads to Zion mourn, because no one comes to the solemn assembly or the appointed feasts. All her gates are desolate, her priests sigh and groan, her maidens are grieved and vexed, and she herself is in bitterness.

5 K ẻ đối địch nó trở nên đầu, kẻ thù nghịch nó được thạnh vượng; Vì Đức Giê-hô-va làm khốn khổ nó, bởi cớ tội lỗi nó nhiều lắm. Con nhỏ nó bị kẻ nghịch bắt điệu đi làm phu tù.

Her adversaries have become the head; her enemies prosper. For the Lord has afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions; her young children have gone into captivity before the enemy.

6 C on gái Si-ôn đã mất hết mọi sự làm cho mình vinh hoa. Các quan trưởng nó như nai chẳng tìm được đồng cỏ, Chạy trốn kiệt cả sức trước mặt kẻ đuổi theo.

From the Daughter of Zion all her beauty and majesty have departed. Her princes have become like harts that find no pasture; they have fled without strength before the pursuer.

7 G iê-ru-sa-lem, đương ngày khốn khổ lưu ly, nhớ xưa trải mọi mùi vui thích; Khi dân nó sa vào tay kẻ nghịch, chẳng ai đến cứu cùng. Quân thù xem thấy nó, chê cười nó hoang vu!

Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction, in the days of her wanderings and her bitterness, all the pleasant and precious things that she had from the days of old. When her people fell into and at the hands of the adversary, and there was none to help her, the enemy looked at her, and they mocked at her desolations and downfall.

8 G iê-ru-sa-lem phạm tội trọng, bởi đó trở nên sự ô uế. Mọi kẻ tôn kính đều khinh dể, vì thấy nó trần truồng. Nó tự mình thở than, trở lui.

Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she has become an unclean thing and has been removed. All who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness; yes, she herself groans and sighs and turns away.

9 V áy nó dơ bẩn; nó chẳng nghĩ sự cuối cùng mình! Sự sa sút nó khác thường, chẳng ai yên ủi nó! Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, xin xem sự kiên nhẫn tôi, vì kẻ thù đã tự tôn mình làm lớn.

Her filthiness was in and on her skirts; she did not consider her final end. Therefore she has come down singularly and astonishingly; she has no comforter. O Lord, look at my affliction, for the enemy has magnified himself!

10 K ẻ thù đã giơ tay trên mọi vật tốt nó; Vì nó đã thấy các dân ngoại xông vào nơi thánh nó. Về dân ngoại ấy Ngài có truyền: chẳng được vào hội Ngài.

The adversary has spread out his hand upon all her precious and desirable things; for she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary — when You commanded that they should not even enter Your congregation.

11 C ả dân nó vừa đi xin bánh, vừa thở than; Đổi hết sự vui lấy thức ăn, để tươi tỉnh linh hồn mình. Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, xin đoái xem, vì tôi đã nên khinh hèn!

All her people groan and sigh, seeking for bread; they have given their desirable and precious things for food to revive their strength and bring back life. See, O Lord, and consider how wretched and lightly esteemed, how vile and abominable, I have become!

12 H ỡi mọi người đi qua, há chẳng lấy làm quan hệ sao? Xét xem có sự buồn bực nào đọ được sự buồn bực đã làm cho ta, Mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã làm khốn cho ta nơi ngày Ngài nổi giận phừng phừng.

Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow which was dealt out to me, with which the Lord has afflicted me in the day of His fierce anger!

13 N gài đã giáng lửa từ trên cao, và xương cốt ta và thắng được. Ngài đã giăng lưới dưới chơn ta, làm cho ta thối lui. Ngài đã làm cho ta nên đơn chiếc, hằng ngày bị hao mòn.

From above He has sent fire into my bones, and it prevailed against them. He has spread a net for my feet; He has turned me back. He has made me hopelessly miserable and faint all the day long.

14 A

The yoke of my transgressions is bound by His hand; they were twined together; they were set upon my neck. He has made my strength fail and stumble; the Lord has delivered me into the hands of those I am unable to resist or withstand.

15 C húa đã làm nên hư không lính chiến ở giữa ta. Ngài đã nhóm hội lớn nghịch cùng ta, đặng nghiền kẻ trai trẻ ta. Chúa đã giày đạp như trong bàn ép con gái đồng trinh của Giu-đa.

The Lord has made of no account all my mighty men in the midst of me; He has proclaimed a set time against me to crush my young men. The Lord has trodden as in a winepress the Virgin Daughter of Judah.

16 V ậy nên ta khóc lóc; mắt ta tuôn nước mắt; Vì kẻ yên ủi làm tỉnh hồn ta thì đã xa ta. Con cái ta bị đơn chiếc, vì kẻ thù đã thắng trận.

For these things I weep; my eyes overflow with tears, because a comforter, one who could refresh and restore my soul, is far from me. My children are desolate and perishing, for the enemy has prevailed.

17 S i-ôn giơ tay, chẳng ai yên ủi nó; Đức Giê-hô-va đã truyền về Gia-cốp: những kẻ chung quanh nó nghịch cùng nó. Giê-ru-sa-lem ở giữa chúng nó như một sự ô uế.

Zion stretches forth her hands, but there is no comforter for her. The Lord has commanded concerning and against Jacob that his neighbors should be his adversaries; Jerusalem has become a filthy thing among them.

18 Đ ức Giê-hô-va là công bình, vì ta đã bạn nghịch cùng mạng Ngài. Hỡi các dân, xin hãy nghe hết thảy, hãy xem sự buồn bực ta! Gái đồng trinh và trai trẻ ta đã đi làm phu tù.

The Lord is righteous (just and in the right); for I have rebelled against His commandment (His word). Hear, I pray you, all you peoples, and look at my sorrow and suffering; my maidens and my young men have gone into captivity.

19 T a đã kêu gọi những kẻ yêu mến ta, nhưng họ lừa dối ta. Các thầy tế lễ và trưởng lão đã tắt hơi trong thành, Khi họ tim đồ ăn để tươi tỉnh linh hồn mình.

I called to my lovers, but they deceived me. My priests and my elders expired in the city while they sought food to save their lives.

20 H ỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, xin đoái xem, vì tôi gặp hoạn nạn; lòng tôi bối rối; Trái tim tôi chuyển động, vì tôi bạn nghịch lắm lắm! Ở ngoài có gươm dao làm cho mất, trong nhà có sự tử vong.

Behold, O Lord, how distressed I am! My vital parts (emotions) are in tumult and are deeply disturbed; my heart cannot rest and is violently agitated within me, for I have grievously rebelled. Outside the house the sword bereaves, at home there is death!

21 N gười ta nghe tiếng tôi than thở, chẳng ai hề yên ủi. Mọi kẻ thù nghe tin tôi bị nạn, biết Ngài đã làm thì mừng rỡ. Ngày Ngài đã rao, Ngài sẽ khiến đến! chúng nó sẽ giống như tôi!

have heard that I sigh and groan, that I have no comforter. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that You have done it. You will bring the day that you have foretold and proclaimed; and they will become like me.

22 N guyền cho mọi tội chúng nó bày ra trước mặt Ngài! Xin đãi chúng nó như đãi tôi bởi cứ mọi tội lỗi tôi; Vì tôi than thở nhiều, và lòng tôi mòn mỏi.

Let all their wickedness come before You; and deal with them as You have dealt with me because of all my transgressions; for my sighs and groans are many and my heart is faint.
