1 H ãy bắt chước tôi, cũng như chính mình tôi bắt chước Đấng Christ vậy.

Pattern yourselves after me, as I imitate and follow Christ (the Messiah).

2 T ôi khen anh em vì hay nhớ đến tôi trong mọi dịp, và lấy lòng trung tín mà giữ những điều tôi đã dạy dỗ anh em.

I appreciate and commend you because you always remember me in everything and keep firm possession of the traditions (the substance of my instructions), just as I have passed them on to you.

3 D ầu vậy, tôi muốn anh em biết Đấng Christ là đầu mọi người; người đờn ông là đầu người đờn bà; và Đức Chúa Trời là đầu của Đấng Christ.

But I want you to know and realize that Christ is the Head of every man, the head of a woman is her husband, and the Head of Christ is God.

4 P hàm người đờn ông cầu nguyện hoặc giảng đạo mà trùm đầu lại, thì làm nhục đầu mình.

Any man who prays or prophesies (teaches, refutes, reproves, admonishes, and comforts) with his head covered dishonors his Head (Christ).

5 N hưng phàm người đờn bà cầu nguyện hoặc giảng đạo mà không trùm đầu lại, thì làm nhục đầu mình: thật chẳng khác gì đã cạo đầu vậy.

And any woman who prays or prophesies (teaches, refutes, reproves, admonishes, or comforts) when she is bareheaded dishonors her head (her husband); it is the same as shaved.

6 V í bằng người đờn bà không trùm đầu, thì cũng nên hớt tóc đi. Song nếu người đờn bà lấy sự hớt tóc hoặc cạo đầu làm xấu hổ, thì hãy trùm đầu lại.

For if a woman will not wear covering, then she should cut off her hair too; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her head shorn or shaven, let her cover.

7 V ả, đờn ông là hình ảnh và sự vinh hiển của Đức Chúa Trời, thì không nên trùm đầu; nhưng đờn bà là sự vinh hiển của đờn ông.

For a man ought not to wear anything on his head, for he is the image and glory of God '> his function of government reflects the majesty of the divine Rule]; but woman is man’s glory (majesty, preeminence).

8 B ởi chưng không phải đờn ông ra từ đờn bà, bèn là đờn bà ra từ đờn ông;

For man was not from woman, but woman from man;

9 k hông phải đờn ông vì cớ đờn bà mà được dựng nên, bèn là đờn bà vì cớ đờn ông vậy.

Neither was man created on account of or for the benefit of woman, but woman on account of and for the benefit of man.

10 B ởi đó, vì cớ các thiên sứ, đờn bà phải có dấu hiệu trên đầu chỉ về quyền phép mình nương cậy.

Therefore she should have a covering on her head '> that she may show reverence as do] the angels.

11 S ong trong Chúa thì chẳng phải đờn bà ngoại đờn ông, cũng chẳng phải đờn ông ngoại đờn bà;

Nevertheless, in the Lord and from His point of view woman is not apart from and independent of man, nor is man aloof from and independent of woman;

12 v ì, như đờn bà đã ra từ đờn ông, thì đờn ông cũng sanh bởi đờn bà, và cả thảy đều ra bởi Đức Chúa Trời.

For as woman was made from man, even so man is also born of woman; and all from God.

13 C hính anh em hãy đoán xét điều nầy: đờn bà cầu nguyện Đức Chúa Trời mà không trùm đầu là hiệp lẽ chăng?

Consider for yourselves; is it proper and decent for a woman to offer prayer to God with her head uncovered?

14 C hính lẽ tự nhiên há chẳng dạy cho anh em biết đờn ông để tóc dài thì lấy làm hổ thẹn sao?

Does not the native sense of propriety (experience, common sense, reason) itself teach you that for a man to wear long hair is a dishonor to him,

15 N hưng, nếu đờn bà để tóc dài thì là lịch sự cho mình, và đã ban tóc dài cho người, dường như khăn trùm vậy.

But if a woman has long hair, it is her ornament and glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

16 B ằng có ai muốn cãi lẽ, thì chúng tôi không có thói quen ấy, mà các Hội thánh Đức Chúa Trời cũng không có nữa.

Now if anyone is disposed to be argumentative and contentious about this, we hold to and recognize no other custom than this, nor do the churches of God generally.

17 T rong khi tôi truyền lời cáo dụ nầy, chẳng phải khen anh em, vì sự nhóm lại của anh em không làm cho mình hay hơn mà làm cho mình dở hơn.

But in what I instruct next I do not commend, because when you meet together, it is not for the better but for the worse.

18 T rước hết, tôi nghe rằng khi anh em có sự nhóm họp Hội thánh, thì sanh ra sự phân rẽ; tôi cũng hơi tin điều đó.

For in the first place, when you assemble as a congregation, I hear that there are cliques (divisions and factions) among you; and I in part believe it,

19 V ì chắc trong vòng anh em phải có bè đảng, hầu cho được nhận biết trong anh em những kẻ nào thật là trung thành.

For doubtless there have to be factions or parties among you in order that they who are genuine and of approved fitness may become evident and plainly recognized among you.

20 V ậy, khi anh em nhóm nhau lại một chỗ, ấy chẳng còn phải là Tiệc thánh của Chúa mà anh em ăn;

So when you gather for your meetings, it is not the supper instituted by the Lord that you eat,

21 b ởi vì lúc ngồi ăn, ai cũng nôn nả mà ăn bữa riêng mình, đến nỗi người nọ chịu đói, còn kẻ kia thì quá độ.

For in eating each one to get his own supper first, and one goes hungry while another gets drunk.

22 A nh em há chẳng có nhà để ăn uống sao? Hay là anh em khinh bỉ Hội thánh của Đức Chúa Trời, muốn làm cho những kẻ không có gì phải hổ thẹn? Tôi nên nói chi với anh em? Có nên khen anh em không? Trong việc nầy tôi chẳng khen đâu.

What! Do you have no houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and mean to show contempt for it, while you humiliate those who are poor (have no homes and have brought no food)? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, I will not!

23 V ả, tôi có nhận nơi Chúa điều tôi đã dạy cho anh em: ấy là Đức Chúa Jêsus, trong đêm Ngài bị nộp, lấy bánh,

For I received from the Lord Himself that which I passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when He was treacherously delivered up and while His betrayal was in progress took bread,

24 t ạ ơn, rồi bẻ ra mà phán rằng: Nầy là thân thể ta, vì các ngươi mà phó cho; hãy làm điều nầy để nhớ ta.

And when He had given thanks, He broke and said, Take, eat. This is My body, which is broken for you. Do this to call Me to remembrance.

25 C ũng một lẽ ấy, sai khi ăn bữa tối rồi, Ngài lấy chén và phán rằng: Chén nầy là sự giao ước mới trong huyết ta; hễ khi nào các ngươi uống, hãy làm điều nầy để nhớ ta.

Similarly when supper was ended, He took the cup also, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink, to call Me to remembrance.

26 A áy vậy, mỗi lần anh em ăn bánh nầy, uống chén nầy, thì rao sự chết của Chúa cho tới lúc Ngài đến.

For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord’s death until He comes.

27 B ởi đó, ai ăn bánh hoặc uống chén của Chúa cách không xứng đáng, thì sẽ mắc tội với thân và huyết của Chúa.

So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 V ậy mỗi người phải tự xét lấy mình, và như thế mới ăn bánh uống chén ấy;

Let a man examine himself, and so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

29 v ì người nào không phân biệt thân Chúa mà ăn bánh uống chén đó, tức là ăn uống sự xét đoán cho mình.

For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself.

30 A áy vì cớ đó mà trong anh em có nhiều kẻ tật nguyền, đau ốm, và có lắm kẻ ngủ.

That is the reason many of you are weak and sickly, and quite enough of you have fallen into the sleep of death.

31 N ếu chúng ta biết xét đoán lấy mình, thì khỏi bị xét đoán.

For if we searchingly examined ourselves, we should not be judged and penalty decreed.

32 S ong khi chúng ta bị Chúa xét đoán, thì bị Ngài sửa phạt, hầu cho khỏi bị án làm một với người thế gian.

But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined and chastened, so that we may not be condemned with the world.

33 H ỡi anh em, vậy thì lúc anh em hội lại để ăn chung với nhau, hãy chờ đợi nhau.

So then, my brothers, when you gather together to eat, wait for one another.

34 V í bằng có ai đói, hãy ăn tại nhà mình, hầu cho anh em không nhóm lại để mà chuốc lấy sự đoán xét. Còn các việc khác, lúc tôi đến sẽ đoán định.

If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together to bring judgment. About the other matters, I will give you directions when I come.
