1 Y tú, fanfarrón, ¿por qué presumes de tu maldad? ¡La misericordia de Dios es constante!

Why boast you of mischief done against the loving-kindness of God, O mighty man, day after day?

2 T u lengua es como navaja afilada, que sólo engaña y trama hacer mal.

Your tongue devises wickedness; it is like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

3 P refieres hacer lo malo y no lo bueno, y mentir, más que decir la verdad.

You love evil more than good, and lying rather than to speak righteousness, justice, and right. Selah!

4 T u lengua es engañosa; prefieres proferir toda clase de insultos.

You love all destroying and devouring words, O deceitful tongue.

5 P or eso, Dios te destruirá para siempre; te arrancará del lugar donde ahora vives; ¡te desarraigará de la tierra de los vivientes!

God will likewise break you down and destroy you forever; He will lay hold of you and pluck you out of your tent and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah!

6 L os hombres justos verán esto, y temerán; se burlarán de él, y dirán:

The righteous also shall see and be in reverent fear and awe, but about you they will laugh, saying,

7 « ¡Miren al que no hizo de Dios su fortaleza! ¡Miren al que confió en sus muchas riquezas y se mantuvo firme en su maldad!»

See, this is the man who made not God his strength (his stronghold and high tower) but trusted in and confidently relied on the abundance of his riches, seeking refuge and security for himself through his wickedness.

8 ¡ Pero mírenme a mí! ¡Soy como un verde olivo en la casa de Dios, y en su misericordia confío ahora y siempre!

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in and confidently rely on the loving-kindness and the mercy of God forever and ever.

9 Y o te alabaré siempre delante de tus fieles, porque has actuado en mi favor. Por siempre confiaré en tu nombre, porque es bueno confiar en ti.

I will thank You and confide in You forever, because You have done it. I will wait on, hope in and expect in Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your saints (Your kind and pious ones).
