1 C uando la reina de Sabá supo de la fama de Salomón, llegó a Jerusalén para ponerlo a prueba y hacerle preguntas difíciles. Llegó con un séquito muy grande. Traía camellos cargados de especias aromáticas, oro en abundancia, y piedras preciosas. Cuando se presentó ante Salomón, le habló con el corazón en la mano,

When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions, accompanied by very many attendants and camels bearing spices, much gold, and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she talked with him of all that was on her mind.

2 y Salomón dio respuesta a todas sus preguntas. No hubo nada que Salomón no le respondiera.

And Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from which he was unable to make clear to her.

3 Y al ver la reina de Sabá la sabiduría de Salomón, el palacio que había construido,

And when the queen of Sheba had seen Solomon’s wisdom, the house he had built,

4 l as viandas de su mesa, las habitaciones de sus oficiales, y el estado y vestidos de sus criados y maestresalas, y la escalinata por la que subía al templo del Señor, se quedó asombrada.

The food of his table, the seating of his officials, the attention of his servants, their apparel, his cupbearers also and their apparel, and his burnt offerings which he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her.

5 E ntonces le dijo: «Todo lo que llegué a saber en mi país acerca de tus hechos y de tu sabiduría, es verdad.

She said to the king, The report which I heard in my own land of your acts and sayings and of your wisdom was true,

6 Y o no podía creer lo que me contaban, hasta que vine y lo vi con mis propios ojos. Y lo cierto es que ni siquiera me habían dicho la mitad de tu gran sabiduría. ¡Tu fama excede a todo lo que yo había oído!

But I did not believe their words until I came and my eyes had seen it. Behold, the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me; you surpass the fame that I heard of you.

7 ¡ Qué dichosos son tus hombres, y tus siervos que están siempre en tu presencia y oyen tu sabiduría!

Happy are your wives and men, and happy are these your servants who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

8 ¡ Bendito sea el Señor tu Dios, que se ha agradado de ti y te ha puesto en el trono, como rey del Señor tu Dios! ¡Tanto ama tu Dios a Israel, que lo ha afirmarlo para siempre, y por eso te ha puesto como rey de ellos, para que impartas justicia y actúes con rectitud!»

Blessed be the Lord your God, Who delighted in you and set you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God loved Israel and would establish them forever, He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.

9 D icho esto, le dio al rey tres mil novecientos sesenta kilos de oro y gran cantidad de especias aromáticas, y piedras preciosas. Nunca más hubo especias aromáticas como las que la reina de Sabá le obsequió al rey Salomón.

She gave the king 120 talents of gold, a very large quantity of spices, and precious stones; such spice was not anywhere as that which the queen of Sheba gave King Solomon.

10 P or su parte, los siervos de Jirán y los siervos de Salomón, que habían traído el oro de Ofir, trajeron también madera de sándalo y piedras preciosas.

The servants of Huram and of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum trees and precious stones.

11 C on la madera de sándalo el rey hizo escalinatas para el templo del Señor y para los palacios reales, y también arpas y salterios para los cantores. Nunca antes se había visto en la tierra de Judá madera semejante.

The king made of the algum trees terraces or walks to the house of the Lord and to the king’s palace, and lyres and harps for the singers; none such had ever been seen before in the land of Judah.

12 E l rey Salomón le dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que ella quiso y le pidió, que fue más de lo que ella le había traído. Después de eso, ella volvió a su país acompañada de sus siervos. Riquezas y fama de Salomón

And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides what she had brought to the king. So she with her servants returned to her own land.

13 E l peso del oro que Salomón recibía cada año llegaba a veintidós mil kilos,

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents,

14 s in contar lo que le entregaban los mercaderes y negociantes. También todos los reyes de Arabia y los gobernadores del país entregaban oro y plata a Salomón.

Besides what traders and merchants brought; and all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

15 C on ello el rey Salomón hizo doscientos escudos de oro batido, cada uno de los cuales pesaba seis kilos,

And King Solomon made 200 large shields or bucklers of beaten gold; 600 shekels of beaten gold went into each shield.

16 y trescientos escudos más pequeños, de oro batido, cada uno de los cuales pesaba tres kilos. Estos escudos los puso el rey en el palacio del bosque del Líbano.

And he made 300 shields of beaten gold, with 300 shekels of gold spread on each shield. And the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

17 E l rey hizo también un trono de marfil de gran tamaño, y lo recubrió de oro puro.

Moreover, made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.

18 E l trono tenía seis escalones, con un estrado de oro fijado al trono, brazos a uno y otro lado del asiento, y dos leones junto a los brazos;

There were six steps to the throne and a gold footstool attached to the throne, and arms on each side of the seat, with two lions standing beside the arms.

19 a demás, a uno y otro lado de los seis escalones había doce leones. Jamás en reino alguno fue hecho un trono semejante.

And twelve lions stood there one on either end of each of the six steps. The like of it was never made in any kingdom before.

20 T oda la vajilla del rey Salomón, y toda la vajilla del palacio del bosque del Líbano, eran de oro puro. Y es que en los días de Salomón la plata no era muy apreciada,

King Solomon’s drinking vessels were all of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not counted as anything in the days of Solomon.

21 p orque la flota del rey navegaba a Tarsis con los siervos de Jirán, y cada tres años las naves volvían de Tarsis trayendo oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.

For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with Huram’s servants; once every three years the ships of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

22 L a riqueza y la sabiduría del rey Salomón excedía a la de todos los reyes de la tierra.

King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

23 N o había rey que no procurara entrevistarse con Salomón para escuchar la sabiduría que Dios le había dado,

And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put into his mind.

24 y todos los años llegaban con regalos, alhajas de plata y de oro, vestidos, armas, perfumes, caballos y mulos.

And every man brought his tribute: silver and gold articles, robes, armor, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.

25 S alomón tenía también cuatro mil caballerizas para sus caballos y carros de guerra, y doce mil jinetes, los cuales estaban en las ciudades de los carros, y en Jerusalén, con el rey,

Solomon had 4, 000 stalls for horses and chariots, and 12, 000 horsemen, stationed in chariot cities or at Jerusalem with the king.

26 q ue ejercía su dominio sobre todos los reyes, desde el Éufrates hasta el país de los filisteos, y hasta la frontera de Egipto.

And he ruled over all the kings from the River to the land of Philistia and to the frontier of Egypt.

27 S alomón acumuló plata en Jerusalén como si acumulara piedras, y la madera de cedro abundaba como los cabrahigos de la llanura.

The king made silver in Jerusalem as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore trees in the lowlands.

28 A demás, de Egipto y de otros países le traían también caballos. Muerte de Salomón

And they imported horses for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.

29 L os demás hechos de Salomón, primeros y últimos, están todos escritos en los libros del profeta Natán, en la profecía de Ajías el silonita, y en la profecía del vidente Iddo contra Jeroboán hijo de Nabat.

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, from first to last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

30 D urante cuarenta años Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel.

Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

31 C uando finalmente descansó entre sus antepasados, lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, su padre, y en su lugar reinó Roboán, su hijo.

Then Solomon slept with his fathers; he was buried in the city of David his father. Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
