1 И осафат, его сын, стал царем вместо него и укрепился против Израиля.

Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 О н поставил войска во всех укрепленных городах Иудеи и разместил отряды в Иудее и в городах Ефрема, которые захватил его отец Аса.

He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3 Г осподь был с Иосафатом, потому что он ходил по ранним путям своего предка Давида. Он не вопрошал Баалов,

Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,

4 а искал Бога своего отца и поступал по Его повелениям, а не по обычаям Израиля.

but sought to the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

5 Г осподь утвердил его царство, и вся Иудея принесла Иосафату дары, так что он стал почитаем, и к тому же очень богат.

Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.

6 Е го сердце было предано Господним путям. Он даже убрал в Иудее святилища на возвышенностях и столбы Ашеры.

His heart was lifted up in the ways of Yahweh: and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherah poles out of Judah.

7 Н а третьем году своего правления он послал своих приближенных Бен-Хаиля, Авдия, Захарию, Нафанаила и Михея учить в городах Иудеи.

Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

8 С ними были левиты: Шемая, Нефания, Зевадия, Хазаил, Шемирамоф, Ионафан, Адония, Товия и Тов-Адония и священники Элишама и Иорам.

and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9 О ни учили в Иудее, имея с собой книгу Господнего Закона. Они обходили все города Иудеи и учили народ.

They taught in Judah, having the book of Yahweh’s law with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

10 У жас перед Господом охватил все царства земель, которые окружали Иудею, и они не воевали с Иосафатом.

The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11 Н екоторые из филистимлян приносили Иосафату дары, и в дань – серебро, а арабы привели ему стада мелкого скота: семь тысяч семьсот баранов и семь тысяч семьсот козлов.

Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.

12 И осафат становился все сильнее и сильнее. Он строил в Иудее крепости и города для хранения припасов

Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

13 и держал в городах Иудеи много припасов, а в Иерусалиме у него были опытные, могучие воины.

He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.

14 В от их список по кланам: Из рода Иуды отрядами в тысячу человек командовали: военачальник Аднах, у которого было 300 000 могучих воинов;

This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand;

15 з а ним – военачальник Иоханан с 280 000 людей;

and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;

16 з а ним – Амасия, сын Зихри, который добровольно вызвался нести службу Господа с 200 000 могучих воинов.

and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

17 И з рода Вениамина: Елиада, могучий воин, с 200 000 людей, вооруженных луками и щитами;

Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;

18 з а ним – Иегозавад с 180 000 людей, вооруженных для битвы.

and next to him Jehozabad and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready prepared for war.

19 Э то воины, которые служили царю, помимо тех, кого он поставил в укрепленных городах по всей Иудее.

These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
