1 R einó en su lugar Josafat, su hijo, el cual se hizo fuerte contra Israel.

Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 P uso ejércitos en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y colocó gente de guarnición en tierra de Judá, y en las ciudades de Efraín que su padre Asa había tomado.

He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3 J ehová estuvo con Josafat, porque anduvo por los caminos que anteriormente había seguido David, su padre; no buscó a los baales,

Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,

4 s ino que buscó al Dios de su padre y anduvo en sus mandamientos, no según las obras de Israel.

but sought to the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

5 P or tanto, Jehová confirmó el reino en sus manos; todo Judá traía a Josafat presentes, y tuvo riquezas y gloria en abundancia.

Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.

6 S e animó su corazón en los caminos de Jehová, y quitó los lugares altos y las imágenes de Asera de en medio de Judá.

His heart was lifted up in the ways of Yahweh: and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherah poles out of Judah.

7 A l tercer año de su reinado envió a sus príncipes Ben-hail, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Micaías, para que enseñaran en las ciudades de Judá.

Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

8 C on ellos envió a los levitas Semaías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asael, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías y Tobadonías, y también a los sacerdotes Elisama y Joram,

and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9 l os cuales enseñaron en Judá, llevando consigo el libro de la ley de Jehová; y recorrieron todas las ciudades de Judá enseñando al pueblo.

They taught in Judah, having the book of Yahweh’s law with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

10 E l terror de Jehová cayó sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá, de manera que no osaron hacer guerra contra Josafat.

The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11 L os filisteos traían presentes y tributos de plata a Josafat. Los árabes también le trajeron ganados, siete mil setecientos carneros y siete mil setecientos machos cabríos.

Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.

12 I ba, pues, Josafat engrandeciéndose mucho; edificó en Judá fortalezas y ciudades de aprovisionamiento.

Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

13 L levó a cabo muchas obras en las ciudades de Judá, y tuvo hombres de guerra muy valientes en Jerusalén.

He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.

14 É ste es el número de ellos según sus casas paternas: De los jefes de los millares de Judá, el general Adnas, y con él trescientos mil hombres muy esforzados.

This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand;

15 D espués de él, el jefe Johanán, y con él doscientos ochenta mil hombres.

and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;

16 T ras éste, Amasías hijo de Zicri, el cual se había ofrecido voluntariamente a Jehová, y con él doscientos mil hombres valientes.

and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

17 D e Benjamín, Eliada, hombre muy valeroso, y con él doscientos mil hombres armados de arco y escudo.

Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;

18 T ras éste, Jozabad, y con él ciento ochenta mil dispuestos para la guerra.

and next to him Jehozabad and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready prepared for war.

19 E stos eran siervos del rey, sin contar los que el rey había puesto en las ciudades fortificadas en todo Judá.

These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
