1 H iram, rey de Tiro, envió a David embajadores y madera de cedro, y albañiles y carpinteros, para que le edificaran una casa.

Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

2 E ntonces entendió David que Jehová lo había confirmado como rey sobre Israel, pues había exaltado su reino sobre su pueblo Israel. Hijos de David nacidos en Jerusalén

David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.

3 T ambién David tomó mujeres en Jerusalén, y engendró más hijos e hijas.

David took more wives at Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters.

4 É stos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

5 I bhar, Elisúa, Elpelet,

Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,

6 N oga, Nefeg, Jafía,

Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

7 E lisama, Beeliada y Elifelet. David derrota a los filisteos

Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 C uando oyeron los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre todo Israel, subieron todos en busca de David. Lo supo David y salió contra ellos.

When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them.

9 L os filisteos llegaron y se extendieron por el valle de Refaim.

Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

10 E ntonces David consultó a Dios, diciendo: —¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos? Jehová le respondió: —Sube, porque yo los entregaré en tus manos.

David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”

11 S ubieron, pues, a Baal-perazim, y allí los derrotó David. Dijo luego David: «Dios abrió una brecha entre mis enemigos por mi mano, como un torrente de agua.» Por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

12 D ejaron allí sus dioses, y David dijo que los quemaran.

They left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burned with fire.

13 V olvieron los filisteos a extenderse por el valle,

The Philistines made a another raid in the valley.

14 y volvió David a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: «No subas tras ellos, sino rodéalos y atácalos frente a las balsameras.

David inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees.

15 C uando oigas venir un estruendo por las copas de las balsameras, sal a la batalla, porque Dios saldrá delante de ti y herirá el ejército de los filisteos.»

When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

16 H izo, pues, David como Dios le mandó, y derrotaron al ejército de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

David did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

17 Y la fama de David se divulgó por todas aquellas tierras; y Jehová puso el temor de David sobre todas las naciones.

The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.
