1 H iram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

Hiram, rey de Tiro, envió a David embajadores y madera de cedro, y albañiles y carpinteros, para que le edificaran una casa.

2 D avid perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.

Entonces entendió David que Jehová lo había confirmado como rey sobre Israel, pues había exaltado su reino sobre su pueblo Israel. Hijos de David nacidos en Jerusalén

3 D avid took more wives at Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters.

También David tomó mujeres en Jerusalén, y engendró más hijos e hijas.

Éstos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

6 N ogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

Noga, Nefeg, Jafía,

7 E lishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 W hen the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them.

Cuando oyeron los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre todo Israel, subieron todos en busca de David. Lo supo David y salió contra ellos.

9 N ow the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

Los filisteos llegaron y se extendieron por el valle de Refaim.

10 D avid inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”

Entonces David consultó a Dios, diciendo: —¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos? Jehová le respondió: —Sube, porque yo los entregaré en tus manos.

11 S o they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

Subieron, pues, a Baal-perazim, y allí los derrotó David. Dijo luego David: «Dios abrió una brecha entre mis enemigos por mi mano, como un torrente de agua.» Por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

12 T hey left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burned with fire.

Dejaron allí sus dioses, y David dijo que los quemaran.

13 T he Philistines made a another raid in the valley.

Volvieron los filisteos a extenderse por el valle,

14 D avid inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees.

y volvió David a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: «No subas tras ellos, sino rodéalos y atácalos frente a las balsameras.

15 W hen you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

Cuando oigas venir un estruendo por las copas de las balsameras, sal a la batalla, porque Dios saldrá delante de ti y herirá el ejército de los filisteos.»

16 D avid did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

Hizo, pues, David como Dios le mandó, y derrotaron al ejército de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

17 T he fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.

Y la fama de David se divulgó por todas aquellas tierras; y Jehová puso el temor de David sobre todas las naciones.
