1 Y ahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

Habló Jehová a Moisés y le dijo:

2 “ Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea.

«Di a los hijos de Israel que regresen y acampen delante de Pi-hahirot, entre Migdol y el mar, enfrente de Baal-zefón. Acamparéis frente a ese lugar, junto al mar.

3 P haraoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.’

Y el faraón dirá de los hijos de Israel: “Encerrados están en la tierra; el desierto los ha encerrado.”

4 I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh.” They did so.

Yo endureceré el corazón del faraón, para que los siga; entonces seré glorificado en el faraón y en todo su ejército, y sabrán los egipcios que yo soy Jehová.» Ellos lo hicieron así.

5 T he king of Egypt was told that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

Cuando fue dado aviso al rey de Egipto, que el pueblo huía, el corazón del faraón y de sus siervos se volvió contra el pueblo, y dijeron: «¿Cómo hemos hecho esto? Hemos dejado ir a Israel, para que no nos sirva.»

6 H e prepared his chariot, and took his army with him;

Unció entonces su carro y tomó consigo a su ejército.

7 a nd he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over all them.

Tomó seiscientos carros escogidos y todos los carros de Egipto, junto con sus capitanes.

8 Y ahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.

Endureció Jehová el corazón del faraón, rey de Egipto, el cual siguió a los hijos de Israel; pero los hijos de Israel habían salido con mano poderosa.

9 T he Egyptians pursued them. All the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

Los egipcios los siguieron con toda la caballería y los carros del faraón, su gente de a caballo y todo su ejército; los alcanzaron donde estaban acampados junto al mar, cerca de Pi-hahirot, frente a Baal-zefón.

10 W hen Pharaoh came near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel cried out to Yahweh.

Cuando el faraón se hubo acercado, los hijos de Israel alzaron sus ojos y vieron que los egipcios venían tras ellos, por lo que los hijos de Israel clamaron a Jehová llenos de temor,

11 T hey said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt?

y dijeron a Moisés: —¿No había sepulcros en Egipto, que nos has sacado para que muramos en el desierto? ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? ¿Por qué nos has sacado de Egipto?

12 I sn’t this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians?’ For it were better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.”

Ya te lo decíamos cuando estábamos en Egipto: Déjanos servir a los egipcios, porque mejor nos es servir a los egipcios que morir en el desierto.

13 M oses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again.

Moisés respondió al pueblo: —No temáis; estad firmes y ved la salvación que Jehová os dará hoy, porque los egipcios que hoy habéis visto, no los volveréis a ver nunca más.

14 Y ahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.”

Jehová peleará por vosotros, y vosotros estaréis tranquilos.

15 Y ahweh said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward.

Entonces Jehová dijo a Moisés: —¿Por qué clamas a mí? Di a los hijos de Israel que marchen.

16 L ift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the middle of the sea on dry ground.

Y tú, alza tu vara, extiende tu mano sobre el mar y divídelo, para que los hijos de Israel pasen por medio del mar en seco.

17 B ehold, I myself will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them: and I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.

Yo endureceré el corazón de los egipcios, para que los sigan; entonces me glorificaré en el faraón y en todo su ejército, en sus carros y en su caballería.

18 T he Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.”

Y sabrán los egipcios que yo soy Jehová, cuando me glorifique en el faraón, en sus carros y en su gente de a caballo.

19 T he angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them.

El ángel de Dios, que iba delante del campamento de Israel, se apartó y se puso detrás de ellos; asimismo la columna de nube que iba delante de ellos se apartó y se puso a sus espaldas,

20 I t came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and one didn’t come near the other all night.

e iba entre el campamento de los egipcios y el campamento de Israel; para aquellos era una nube tenebrosa, pero a Israel lo alumbraba de noche; por eso, en toda aquella noche nunca se acercaron los unos a los otros.

21 M oses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar, e hizo Jehová que el mar se retirara por medio de un recio viento oriental que sopló toda aquella noche. Así se secó el mar y las aguas quedaron divididas.

22 T he children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.

Entonces los hijos de Israel entraron en medio del mar, en seco, y las aguas eran como un muro a su derecha y a su izquierda.

23 T he Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

Los egipcios los siguieron, y toda la caballería del faraón, sus carros y su gente de a caballo entraron tras ellos hasta la mitad del mar.

24 I n the morning watch, Yahweh looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army.

Aconteció a la vigilia de la mañana, que Jehová miró el campamento de los egipcios desde la columna de fuego y nube, y trastornó el campamento de los egipcios;

25 H e took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh fights for them against the Egyptians!”

quitó además las ruedas de sus carros y los trastornó gravemente. Entonces los egipcios dijeron: —Huyamos ante Israel, porque Jehová pelea por ellos contra los egipcios.

26 Y ahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”

Pero Jehová dijo a Moisés: —Extiende tu mano sobre el mar, para que las aguas se vuelvan contra los egipcios, sus carros y su caballería.

27 M oses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.

Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar y, cuando amanecía, el mar se volvió con toda su fuerza; al huir, los egipcios se encontraban con el mar. Así derribó Jehová a los egipcios en medio del mar,

28 T he waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.

pues al volver las aguas, cubrieron los carros, la caballería y todo el ejército del faraón que había entrado tras ellos en el mar; no quedó ni uno de ellos.

29 B ut the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.

En cambio, los hijos de Israel fueron por en medio del mar, en seco, y las aguas eran como un muro a su derecha y a su izquierda.

30 T hus Yahweh saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

Así salvó Jehová aquel día a Israel de manos de los egipcios; e Israel vio a los egipcios muertos a la orilla del mar.

31 I srael saw the great work which Yahweh did to the Egyptians, and the people feared Yahweh; and they believed in Yahweh, and in his servant Moses.

Al ver Israel aquel gran hecho que Jehová ejecutó contra los egipcios, el pueblo temió a Jehová, y creyeron a Jehová y a Moisés, su siervo.
