1 I n the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

En el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asa, subió Baasa, rey de Israel, contra Judá, y fortificó a Ramá, para cortarle toda comunicación a Asa, rey de Judá.

2 T hen Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of Yahweh’s house and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben Hadad king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,

Entonces sacó Asa la plata y el oro de los tesoros de la casa de Jehová y de la casa real, y envió mensajeros a Ben-adad, rey de Siria, que estaba en Damasco, diciendo:

3 “ Let there be a treaty between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.”

«Haya alianza entre tú y yo, como la hubo entre tu padre y mi padre. Aquí te envío plata y oro para que vengas y deshagas la alianza que tienes con Baasa, rey de Israel, a fin de que se aleje de mí.»

4 B en Hadad listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they struck Ijon, and Dan, and Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.

Consintió Ben-adad con el rey Asa y envió los capitanes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel; conquistaron Ijón, Dan, Abel-maim y las ciudades de aprovisionamiento de Neftalí.

5 W hen Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and let his work cease.

Cuando Baasa lo supo, cesó de edificar a Ramá y abandonó su obra.

6 T hen Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and its timber, with which Baasha had built; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

Entonces el rey Asa tomó a todo Judá, y se llevaron de Ramá la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba; y con ellas edificó Geba y Mizpa.

7 A t that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on Yahweh your God, therefore is the army of the king of Syria escaped out of your hand.

En aquel tiempo vino el vidente Hanani ante Asa, rey de Judá, y le dijo: «Por cuanto te has apoyado en el rey de Siria, y no te apoyaste en Jehová, tu Dios, por eso el ejército del rey de Siria ha escapado de tus manos.

8 W eren’t the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge army, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? Yet, because you relied on Yahweh, he delivered them into your hand.

Los etíopes y los libios, ¿no eran un ejército numerosísimo, con carros y mucha gente de a caballo? Con todo, porque te apoyaste en Jehová, él los entregó en tus manos.

9 F or Yahweh’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly; for from henceforth you shall have wars.”

Porque los ojos de Jehová contemplan toda la tierra, para mostrar su poder a favor de los que tienen un corazón perfecto para con él. Locamente has procedido en esto; por eso de aquí en adelante habrá más guerra contra ti.»

10 T hen Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

Entonces se enojó Asa contra el vidente y lo echó en la cárcel, pues se encolerizó mucho contra él a causa de esto. También oprimió Asa en aquel tiempo a algunos del pueblo. Muerte de Asa

11 B ehold, the acts of Asa, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Pero los hechos de Asa, los primeros y los últimos, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

12 I n the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet; his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he didn’t seek Yahweh, but to the physicians.

En el año treinta y nueve de su reinado, Asa enfermó gravemente de los pies, pero en su enfermedad tampoco buscó a Jehová, sino a los médicos.

13 A sa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

Y durmió Asa con sus padres; murió en el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado.

14 T hey buried him in his own tombs, which he had dug out for himself in David’s city, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and various kinds of spices prepared by the perfumers’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.

Lo sepultaron en los sepulcros que él había hecho para sí en la Ciudad de David; y lo pusieron en un ataúd, el cual llenaron de perfumes y diversas especias aromáticas, preparadas por expertos perfumistas; e hicieron un gran fuego en su honor.
