1 N adab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which he had not commanded them.

Nadab y Abiú, hijos de Aarón, tomaron cada uno su incensario, pusieron en ellos fuego, le echaron incienso encima, y ofrecieron delante de Jehová un fuego extraño, que él nunca les había mandado.

2 F ire came out from before Yahweh, and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.

Entonces salió de la presencia de Jehová un fuego que los quemó, y murieron delante de Jehová.

3 T hen Moses said to Aaron, “This is what Yahweh spoke of, saying, ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.

Luego dijo Moisés a Aarón: «Esto es lo que Jehová afirmó cuando dijo: “En los que a mí se acercan me santificaré, y en presencia de todo el pueblo seré glorificado.”» Y Aarón calló.

4 M oses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”

Después Moisés llamó a Misael y a Elzafán, hijos de Uziel, tío de Aarón, y les dijo: «Acercaos y sacad a vuestros hermanos de delante del santuario, fuera del campamento.»

5 S o they came near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.

Ellos se acercaron y los sacaron en sus túnicas fuera del campamento, como dijo Moisés.

6 M oses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, and don’t tear your clothes; so that you don’t die, and so that he not be angry with all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which Yahweh has kindled.

Entonces Moisés dijo a Aarón y a sus hijos Eleazar e Itamar: «No descubráis vuestras cabezas ni rasguéis vuestros vestidos en señal de duelo, para que no muráis, ni se levante la ira sobre toda la congregación; pero vuestros hermanos, toda la casa de Israel, sí se lamentarán por el fuego que ha encendido Jehová.

7 Y ou shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die; for the anointing oil of Yahweh is on you.” They did according to the word of Moses.

No os alejéis de la puerta del Tabernáculo de reunión, porque moriréis, pues el aceite de la unción de Jehová está sobre vosotros.» Y ellos hicieron conforme al dicho de Moisés.

8 T hen Yahweh said to Aaron,

Entonces Jehová habló a Aarón y le dijo:

9 “ You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.

«Ni tú ni tus hijos debéis beber vino ni sidra cuando entréis en el Tabernáculo de reunión, para que no muráis. Estatuto perpetuo será para vuestras generaciones,

10 Y ou are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean.

para poder discernir entre lo santo y lo profano, y entre lo inmundo y lo limpio,

11 Y ou are to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Yahweh has spoken to them by Moses.”

y enseñar a los hijos de Israel todos los estatutos que Jehová les ha dado por medio de Moisés.»

12 M oses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy;

Moisés dijo a Aarón y a Eleazar e Itamar, los hijos que le habían quedado: «Tomad la ofrenda que queda de las ofrendas encendidas a Jehová, y comedla sin levadura junto al altar, porque es cosa muy santa.

13 a nd you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your portion, and your sons’ portion, of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire: for so I am commanded.

La comeréis, pues, en lugar santo, porque esto es lo reservado a ti y a tus hijos de las ofrendas quemadas a Jehová, pues así me ha sido mandado.

14 T he waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel.

Comeréis asimismo en lugar limpio, tú y contigo tus hijos y tus hijas, el pecho mecido y la pierna reservada, porque por derecho son tuyos y de tus hijos, dados de los sacrificios de paz de los hijos de Israel.

15 T he heaved thigh and the waved breast they shall bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before Yahweh: and it shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a portion forever; as Yahweh has commanded.”

Con las ofrendas de las grasas que se han de quemar, traerán la pierna que se ha de reservar y el pecho que será mecido como ofrenda mecida delante de Jehová; serán para ti y tus hijos derecho perpetuo, como Jehová lo ha mandado.»

16 M oses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned: and he was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying,

Entonces Moisés preguntó por el macho cabrío de la expiación, pero se encontró con que ya había sido quemado. Enojado contra Eleazar e Itamar, los hijos que habían quedado de Aarón, dijo:

17 “ Why haven’t you eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, since it is most holy, and he has given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Yahweh?

—¿Por qué no comisteis la expiación en lugar santo? Pues es muy santa, y él os la dio para llevar el pecado de la comunidad, para que sean reconciliados delante de Jehová.

18 B ehold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary: you certainly should have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”

Ved que la sangre no fue llevada dentro del santuario, por lo que vosotros debíais comer la ofrenda en el lugar santo, como yo mandé.

19 A aron spoke to Moses, “Behold, today they have offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh; and such things as these have happened to me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been pleasing in Yahweh’s sight?”

Aarón respondió a Moisés: —Mira, hoy han ofrecido su expiación y su holocausto delante de Jehová, pero a mí me han sucedido estas cosas. Si yo hubiera comido hoy del sacrificio de expiación, ¿sería esto grato a Jehová?

20 W hen Moses heard that, it was pleasing in his sight.

Cuando Moisés oyó esto, se dio por satisfecho.
