1 T hey continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

Tres años pasaron sin guerra entre los sirios e Israel.

2 I n the third year, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

Aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat, rey de Judá, descendió a visitar al rey de Israel.

3 T he king of Israel said to his servants, “You know that Ramoth Gilead is ours, and we do nothing, and don’t take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”

Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: —¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de manos del rey de Siria?

4 H e said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

Luego preguntó a Josafat: —¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? —Yo soy como tú, mi pueblo como tu pueblo y mis caballos como tus caballos —respondió Josafat al rey de Israel.

5 J ehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for Yahweh’s word.”

Dijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: —Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

6 T hen the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Should I go against Ramoth Gilead to battle, or should I refrain?” They said, “Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, unos cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo: —¿Debo ir a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad o debo renunciar a ella? —Sube, porque Jehová la entregará en manos del rey —le respondieron ellos.

7 B ut Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh, that we may inquire of him?”

Dijo Josafat: —¿Hay aquí algún otro profeta de Jehová por medio del cual podamos consultar?

8 T he king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”

El rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: —Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Micaías hijo de Imla, pero yo lo aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza el bien, sino solamente el mal. —No hable el rey así —dijo Josafat.

9 T hen the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Quickly get Micaiah the son of Imlah.”

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial y le ordenó: «Trae pronto a Micaías hijo de Imla.»

10 N ow the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos con sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria, mientras todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

11 Z edekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘With these you will push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”

Sedequías hijo de Quenaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro y gritaba: «¡Así ha dicho Jehová: Con estos cornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos!»

12 A ll the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera y decían: «Sube a Ramot de Galaad y serás prosperado, porque Jehová la entregará en manos del rey.»

13 T he messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “See now, the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak good.”

El mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías le dijo: —Mira que las palabras de los profetas a una sola voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; que tu palabra sea ahora como la palabra de alguno de ellos y anuncia tú también buen éxito.

14 M icaiah said, “As Yahweh lives, what Yahweh says to me, that I will speak.”

Micaías respondió: —¡Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hable, eso diré!

15 W hen he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall we forbear?” He answered him, “Go up and prosper; and Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Llegó, pues, ante el rey, y el rey le dijo: —Micaías, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad o renunciaremos a ella? Él le respondió: —Sube y serás prosperado: Jehová la entregará en manos del rey.

16 T he king said to him, “How many times do I have to adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in Yahweh’s name?”

El rey le dijo: —¿Hasta cuántas veces he de exigirte que no me digas sino la verdad en nombre de Jehová?

17 H e said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. Yahweh said, ‘These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.’”

Entonces él dijo: —He visto a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor. Jehová ha dicho: “Estos no tienen señor. Que cada cual vuelva a su casa en paz.”

18 T he king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: —¿No te lo había dicho yo? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente el mal.

19 M icaiah said, “Therefore hear Yahweh’s word. I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

Entonces él dijo: —Oye, pues, la palabra de Jehová: “Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

20 Y ahweh said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One said one thing; and another said another.

Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Uno decía de una manera y el otro decía de otra.

21 A spirit came out and stood before Yahweh, and said, ‘I will entice him.’

Entonces se adelantó un espíritu, se puso delante de Jehová y le dijo: ‘Yo lo induciré’. Jehová le preguntó: ‘¿De qué manera?’

22 Y ahweh said to him, ‘How?’ He said, ‘I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ He said, ‘You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.’

Él dijo: ‘Saldré y seré un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos sus profetas.’ Jehová le dijo: ‘Tú conseguirás inducirlo; ve, pues, y hazlo así.’

23 N ow therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”

Ahora Jehová ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, y ha decretado el mal en contra tuya.”

24 T hen Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did Yahweh’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”

Entonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaana y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla diciendo: —¿Por dónde se me fue el espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

25 M icaiah said, “Behold, you will see on that day, when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”

Micaías respondió: —Tú mismo lo verás el día en que te vayas metiendo de aposento en aposento para esconderte.

26 T he king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son.

Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: —Toma a Micaías y llévalo ante Amón, gobernador de la ciudad, y ante Joás, hijo del rey.

27 S ay, ‘Thus says the king, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

Tú les dirás: “Así ha dicho el rey: ‘Echad a éste en la cárcel y mantenedlo con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.’”

28 M icaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, all you people!”

Micaías respondió: —Si logras volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mi boca. Y a continuación dijo: «Oíd, pueblos todos.»

29 S o the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

Subió, pues, el rey de Israel, junto con Josafat, rey de Judá, a Ramot de Galaad.

30 T he king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” The king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Yo me disfrazaré y entraré en la batalla. Tú ponte tus vestidos.» El rey de Israel se disfrazó y entró en la batalla.

31 N ow the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”

Pero el rey de Siria había mandado a los treinta y dos capitanes de sus carros, diciendo: «No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.»

32 W hen the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “Surely that is the king of Israel!” and they turned aside to fight against him. Jehoshaphat cried out.

Cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: «Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel.» Y se volvieron contra él para atacarlo; pero el rey Josafat gritó.

33 W hen the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

Al ver los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

34 A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn your hand, and carry me out of the battle; for I am severely wounded.”

Pero un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura, por lo que dijo él a su cochero: «Da la vuelta y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido.»

35 T he battle increased that day. The king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.

Aquel día había arreciado la batalla y el rey tuvo que ser sostenido en su carro frente a los sirios. A la caída de la tarde murió, y la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.

36 A cry went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, “Every man to his city, and every man to his country!”

A la puesta del sol corrió un pregón por el campamento que decía: «¡Cada uno a su ciudad y cada cual a su tierra!

37 S o the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

¡El rey ha muerto!» Entonces el rey fue traído a Samaria y lo sepultaron allí.

38 T hey washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood where the prostitutes washed themselves; according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke.

Lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria y los perros lamían su sangre (también las rameras se lavaban allí), conforme a la palabra que Jehová había dicho.

39 N ow the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

El resto de los hechos de Acab y todo lo que hizo, la casa de marfil que construyó y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

40 S o Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.

Acab durmió con sus padres y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ocozías. Reinado de Josafat

41 J ehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

Josafat hijo de Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab, rey de Israel.

42 J ehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

Tenía Josafat treinta y cinco años de edad cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Azuba, hija de Silhi.

43 H e walked in all the way of Asa his father. He didn’t turn aside from it, doing that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes. However the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

44 J ehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

45 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he fought, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

46 T he remnant of the sodomites, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.

47 T here was no king in Edom. A deputy ruled.

Entonces no había rey en Edom, sino un gobernador en lugar de rey.

48 J ehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they didn’t go; for the ships wrecked at Ezion Geber.

49 T hen Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat would not.

50 J ehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in his father David’s city. Jehoram his son reigned in his place.

53 H e served Baal and worshiped him, and provoked Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger, in all the ways that his father had done so.
