1 N ow Solomon decided to build a house for Yahweh’s name, and a house for his kingdom.

Determinó, pues, Salomón edificar Casa al nombre de Jehová, y casa para su reino.

2 S olomon counted out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

Y designó Salomón setenta mil cargadores, ochenta mil canteros y tres mil seiscientos capataces que los vigilaran.

3 S olomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, “As you dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house in which to dwell, so deal with me.

Después envió Salomón a decir a Hiram, rey de Tiro: «Haz conmigo como hiciste con mi padre David, enviándole cedros para que se construyera una casa en que habitar.

4 B ehold, I am about to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him incense of sweet spices, and for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts of Yahweh our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel.

Mira, yo tengo que edificar una Casa al nombre de Jehová, mi Dios, para consagrársela, para quemar incienso aromático delante de él, para la colocación continua de los panes de la proposición, para los holocaustos de la mañana y la tarde, los sábados, nuevas lunas, y festividades de Jehová, nuestro Dios; lo cual ha de ser perpetuo en Israel.

5 “ The house which I build is great; for our God is great above all gods.

Y la Casa que tengo que edificar ha de ser grande, porque el Dios nuestro es grande sobre todos los dioses.

6 B ut who is able to build him a house, since heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except just to burn incense before him?

Pero ¿quién será capaz de edificarle Casa, siendo que los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerlo? ¿Quién, pues, soy yo, para que le edifique Casa, aunque sólo sea para quemar incienso delante de él?

7 “ Now therefore send me a man skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and who knows how to engrave engravings, to be with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.

Envíame, pues, ahora un hombre hábil que sepa trabajar en oro, en plata, en bronce, en hierro, en púrpura, en grana y en azul, y que sepa esculpir con los maestros que están conmigo en Judá y en Jerusalén, los cuales contrató mi padre.

8 “ Send me also cedar trees, cypress trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon: and behold, my servants shall be with your servants,

Envíame también madera del Líbano: cedro, ciprés y sándalo; porque yo sé que tus siervos saben cortar madera en el Líbano. Mis siervos irán con los tuyos

9 e ven to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

para que me preparen mucha madera, porque la Casa que tengo que edificar ha de ser grande y portentosa.

10 B ehold, I will give to your servants, the cutters who cut timber, twenty thousand cors of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand baths of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.”

Para tus siervos, los que trabajen cortando la madera, daré veinte mil coros de trigo en grano, veinte mil coros de cebada, veinte mil batos de vino y veinte mil batos de aceite.»

11 T hen Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, “Because Yahweh loves his people, he has made you king over them.”

Entonces Hiram, rey de Tiro, respondió en una carta que envió a Salomón: «Porque Jehová amó a su pueblo, te ha puesto por rey sobre ellos.»

12 H uram continued, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endowed with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

Hiram también decía: «Bendito sea Jehová, el Dios de Israel, que hizo los cielos y la tierra, y que dio al rey David un hijo sabio, entendido, cuerdo y prudente, que va a edificar una casa a Jehová y una casa para su reino.

13 N ow I have sent a skillful man, endowed with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

Yo, pues, te he enviado un hombre hábil y entendido, Hiram-abi,

14 t he son of a woman of the daughters of Dan; and his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, also to engrave any kind of engraving, and to devise any device; that there may be a place appointed to him with your skillful men, and with the skillful men of my lord David your father.

hijo de una mujer de las hijas de Dan, aunque su padre era de Tiro, el cual sabe trabajar en oro, plata, bronce y hierro, en piedra y en madera, en púrpura y en azul, en lino y en carmesí; asimismo sabe esculpir toda clase de figuras y sacar toda forma de diseño que se le pida, junto a tus hombres peritos y a los de mi señor David, tu padre.

15 “ Now therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants:

Ahora, pues, envíe mi señor a sus siervos el trigo y la cebada, el aceite y el vino de que ha hablado;

16 a nd we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you shall need; and we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Joppa; and you shall carry it up to Jerusalem.”

y nosotros cortaremos en el Líbano la madera que necesites, y te la llevaremos en balsas por el mar hasta Jope, y tú harás que la suban hasta Jerusalén.»

17 S olomon numbered all the foreigners who were in the land of Israel, after the numbering with which David his father had numbered them; and they were found one hundred fifty-three thousand six hundred.

Salomón hizo el censo de todos los extranjeros que había en la tierra de Israel, después del que David, su padre, había hecho; y se halló que eran ciento cincuenta y tres mil seiscientos.

18 H e set seventy thousand of them to bear burdens, and eighty thousand who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred overseers to set the people at work.

Y señaló de ellos setenta mil para llevar cargas, ochenta mil para las canteras en las montañas, y tres mil seiscientos como capataces para hacer trabajar al pueblo.
