1 T he message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

La palabra que habló el profeta Jeremías a Baruc hijo de Nerías, cuando escribía en el libro estas palabras dictadas por Jeremías, en el año cuarto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

2 Y ahweh, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:

«Así te ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel, a ti, Baruc:

3 Y ou said, Woe is me now! for Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.

“Tú dijiste: ‘¡Ay de mí ahora!, porque ha añadido Jehová tristeza a mi dolor. Fatigado estoy de gemir, y no he hallado descanso.’”

4 Y ou shall tell him, Yahweh says: Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.

Le dirás: “Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo destruyo a los que edifiqué y arranco a los que planté, esto es, a toda esta tierra,

5 D o you seek great things for yourself? Don’t seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh, says Yahweh; but your life will I give to you for a prey in all places where you go.

¿y tú buscas para ti grandezas? ¡No las busques!, porque he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre todo ser viviente, ha dicho Jehová; pero a ti te daré la vida por botín en cualquier lugar adonde vayas.”»
