1 I n that day, Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan, the fleeing serpent, and leviathan the twisted serpent; and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea.

En aquel día Jehová castigará con su espada dura, grande y fuerte a Leviatán, la serpiente veloz, a Leviatán, la serpiente tortuosa; y matará al dragón que está en el mar.

2 I n that day, sing to her, “A pleasant vineyard!

Aquel día cantadle a la viña del vino rojo.

3 I , Yahweh, am its keeper. I will water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I will keep it night and day.

«Yo, Jehová, la guardo; a cada momento la regaré; la guardaré de noche y de día para que nadie la dañe.

4 W rath is not in me, but if I should find briers and thorns, I would do battle! I would march on them and I would burn them together.

No hay enojo en mí. ¿Quién pondrá contra mí en batalla espinos y cardos? Yo los pisotearé y los quemaré a todos juntos.

5 O r else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me. Let him make peace with me.”

¿O se acogerá alguien a mi amparo? ¡Que haga conmigo paz!, ¡sí, que haga la paz conmigo!»

6 I n days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bud. They will fill the surface of the world with fruit.

Días vendrán cuando Jacob echará raíces, florecerá y echará renuevos Israel, y la faz del mundo llenará de fruto.

7 H as he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or are they killed like those who killed them were killed?

¿Acaso ha sido herido como fue herido quien lo hirió, o ha sido muerto como fueron muertos los que lo mataron?

Con moderación lo castigarás en sus vástagos. Él los remueve con su recio viento en el día del viento del este.

9 T herefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar as chalk stones that are beaten in pieces, so that the Asherah poles and the incense altars shall rise no more.

De esta manera, pues, será perdonada la iniquidad de Jacob, y éste será todo el fruto de la remoción de su pecado: que vuelva todas las piedras del altar como piedras de cal desmenuzadas, y que no se levanten más los símbolos de Asera ni las imágenes del sol.

10 F or the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness. The calf will feed there, and there he will lie down, and consume its branches.

Porque la ciudad fortificada será desolada, la ciudad habitada será abandonada y dejada como un desierto; allí pastará el becerro, allí tendrá su majada y consumirá sus ramas.

11 W hen its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

Cuando sus ramas se sequen, serán quebradas y vendrán mujeres a encenderlas. Porque aquél no es un pueblo inteligente; por tanto, su Hacedor no tendrá de él misericordia, no se compadecerá de él el que lo formó.

12 I t will happen in that day, that Yahweh will thresh from the flowing stream of the Euphrates to the brook of Egypt; and you will be gathered one by one, children of Israel.

Acontecerá en aquel día, que trillará Jehová desde el río Éufrates hasta el torrente de Egipto, y vosotros, hijos de Israel, seréis reunidos uno a uno.

13 I t will happen in that day that a great trumpet will be blown; and those who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and those who were outcasts in the land of Egypt, shall come; and they will worship Yahweh in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

Acontecerá también en aquel día, que se tocará con gran trompeta, vendrán los que habían sido esparcidos en la tierra de Asiria y los que habían sido desterrados a Egipto, y adorarán a Jehová en el monte santo, en Jerusalén.
