1 P ablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, según la promesa de la vida que es en Cristo Jesús,

2 a Timoteo, amado hijo: Gracia, misericordia y paz, de Dios Padre y de Jesucristo nuestro Señor. Testificando de Cristo

to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 D oy gracias a Dios, al cual sirvo desde mis mayores con limpia conciencia, de que sin cesar me acuerdo de ti en mis oraciones noche y día.

I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day

4 A l acordarme de tus lágrimas, siento deseo de verte, para llenarme de gozo,

longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;

having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you; which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and, I am persuaded, in you also.

6 P or eso te aconsejo que avives el fuego del don de Dios que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos,

For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

7 p orque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.

For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

8 P or tanto, no te avergüences de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo, sino participa de las aflicciones por el evangelio según el poder de Dios.

Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,

9 É l nos salvó y llamó con llamamiento santo, no conforme a nuestras obras, sino según el propósito suyo y la gracia que nos fue dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos,

who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

10 p ero que ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quitó la muerte y sacó a luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio.

but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

11 D e este evangelio yo fui constituido predicador, apóstol y maestro de los gentiles,

For this, I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

12 p or lo cual asimismo padezco esto. Pero no me avergüenzo, porque yo sé a quién he creído y estoy seguro de que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito para aquel día.

For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.

13 R etén la forma de las sanas palabras que de mí oíste, en la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.

Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

14 G uarda el buen depósito por el Espíritu Santo que mora en nosotros.

That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

15 Y a sabes que me abandonaron todos los que están en Asia, entre ellos Figelo y Hermógenes.

This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

16 T enga el Señor misericordia de la casa de Onesíforo, porque muchas veces me confortó y no se avergonzó de mis cadenas,

May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain,

17 s ino que, cuando estuvo en Roma, me buscó solícitamente y me halló.

but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me

18 C oncédale el Señor que halle misericordia cerca del Señor en aquel día. Y cuánto nos ayudó en Éfeso, tú lo sabes mejor.
