1 E ntonces Jesús fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto para ser tentado por el diablo.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

2 D espués de haber ayunado cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sintió hambre.

When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.

3 S e le acercó el tentador y le dijo: —Si eres Hijo de Dios, di que estas piedras se conviertan en pan.

The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

4 É l respondió y dijo: —Escrito está: “No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra que sale de la boca de Dios.”

But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

5 E ntonces el diablo lo llevó a la santa ciudad, lo puso sobre el pináculo del Templo

Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,

6 y le dijo: —Si eres Hijo de Dios, tírate abajo, pues escrito está: “A sus ángeles mandará acerca de ti”, y “En sus manos te sostendrán, para que no tropieces con tu pie en piedra.”

and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will put his angels in charge of you.’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.’”

7 J esús le dijo: —Escrito está también: “No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.”

Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”

8 O tra vez lo llevó el diablo a un monte muy alto y le mostró todos los reinos del mundo y la gloria de ellos,

Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory.

9 y le dijo: —Todo esto te daré, si postrado me adoras.

He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”

10 E ntonces Jesús le dijo: —Vete, Satanás, porque escrito está: “Al Señor tu Dios adorarás y sólo a él servirás.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”

11 E l diablo entonces lo dejó, y vinieron ángeles y lo servían. Comienzo del ministerio

Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.

12 C uando Jesús oyó que Juan estaba preso, volvió a Galilea.

Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.

13 D ejando Nazaret, fue y habitó en Capernaúm, ciudad marítima, en la región de Zabulón y de Neftalí,

Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

14 p ara que se cumpliera lo que dijo el profeta Isaías:

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

15 « ¡Tierra de Zabulón y tierra de Neftalí, camino del mar, al otro lado del Jordán, Galilea de los gentiles!

“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,

16 E l pueblo que habitaba en tinieblas vio gran luz, y a los que habitaban en región de sombra de muerte, luz les resplandeció.»

the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”

17 D esde entonces comenzó Jesús a predicar y a decir: «¡Arrepentíos, porque el reino de los cielos se ha acercado!» Jesús llama a cuatro pescadores

From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

18 P asando Jesús junto al Mar de Galilea, vio a dos hermanos, Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés, que echaban la red en el mar, porque eran pescadores.

Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

19 Y les dijo: —Venid en pos de mí, y os haré pescadores de hombres.

He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”

20 E llos entonces, dejando al instante las redes, lo siguieron.

They immediately left their nets and followed him.

21 P asando de allí, vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo, hijo de Zebedeo, y su hermano Juan, en la barca con Zebedeo, su padre, que remendaban sus redes; y los llamó.

Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.

22 E llos, dejando al instante la barca y a su padre, lo siguieron. Jesús ministra a la multitud

They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

23 R ecorría Jesús toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, predicando el evangelio del Reino y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo.

Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

24 S e difundió su fama por toda Siria, y le trajeron todos los que tenían dolencias, los afligidos por diversas enfermedades y tormentos, los endemoniados, lunáticos y paralíticos, y los sanó.

The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.

25 L o siguió mucha gente de Galilea, de Decápolis, de Jerusalén, de Judea y del otro lado del Jordán.

Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
