1 Y dijo David: «Aquí estará la casa de Jehová Dios, y aquí el altar del holocausto para Israel.» Preparativos para la edificación del Templo

Then David said, “This is the house of Yahweh God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

2 D espués mandó David que se reuniera a los extranjeros que había en la tierra de Israel, y señaló de entre ellos canteros que labraran piedras para edificar la casa de Dios.

David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut dressed stones to build God’s house.

3 A simismo preparó David mucho hierro para los clavos de las puertas y para las junturas; y también una incalculable cantidad de bronce, y madera de cedro sin cuenta,

David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;

4 p ues los sidonios y tirios habían traído a David abundante madera de cedro.

and cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the people of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

5 D avid se decía: «Salomón, mi hijo, es muchacho y de tierna edad, y la Casa que se ha de edificar a Jehová ha de ser magnífica por su excelencia, para renombre y honra suya en todas las tierras; ahora, pues, yo haré los preparativos necesarios.» E hizo David grandes preparativos antes de su muerte.

David said, “Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.

6 L lamó entonces David a Salomón, su hijo, y le mandó que edificara Casa a Jehová, Dios de Israel.

Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel.

7 Y dijo David a Salomón: «Hijo mío, en mi corazón tuve el propósito de edificar un templo dedicado al nombre de Jehová, mi Dios.

David said to Solomon his son, “As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my God.

8 P ero recibí palabra de Jehová, que decía: “Tú has derramado mucha sangre y has hecho grandes guerras; no edificarás Casa a mi nombre, porque has derramado mucha sangre en la tierra delante de mí.

But Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, ‘You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.

9 M ira que te nacerá un hijo, el cual será hombre de paz, pues yo le haré estar en paz con todos sus enemigos en derredor; por tanto, su nombre será Salomón, y en sus días concederé paz y reposo a Israel.

Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of peace. I will give him rest from all his enemies all around; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

10 É l edificará una Casa a mi nombre; será para mí un hijo, y yo seré para él un padre; y afirmaré el trono de su reino sobre Israel para siempre.”

He shall build a house for my name; and he will be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.’

11 A hora pues, hijo mío, Jehová esté contigo, y seas prosperado, para que edifiques la Casa a Jehová tu Dios, como él ha dicho de ti.

Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and prosper you, and build the house of Yahweh your God, as he has spoken concerning you.

12 Q ue Jehová te dé entendimiento y prudencia, para que cuando gobiernes a Israel guardes la ley de Jehová, tu Dios.

May Yahweh give you discretion and understanding, and put you in charge of Israel; that so you may keep the law of Yahweh your God.

13 E ntonces serás prosperado, si cuidas de poner por obra los estatutos y decretos que Jehová mandó a Moisés para Israel. Esfuérzate, pues, y cobra ánimo; no temas, ni desmayes.

Then you will prosper, if you observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Yahweh gave Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed.

14 M ira, yo con grandes esfuerzos he preparado para la casa de Jehová cien mil talentos de oro, un millón de talentos de plata, y bronce y hierro sin medida, pues es mucho. Asimismo he preparado madera y piedra, lo cual tú podrás aumentar.

Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for Yahweh’s house one hundred thousand talents of gold, one million talents of silver, and brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.

15 T ienes contigo muchos obreros, canteros, albañiles, carpinteros, hombres expertos en toda clase de obra.

There are also workmen with you in abundance, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of men who are skillful in every kind of work;

16 D el oro, de la plata, del bronce y del hierro, hay en abundancia. Levántate y manos a la obra; que Jehová esté contigo.»

of the gold, the silver, the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and may Yahweh be with you.”

17 A simismo mandó David a todos los principales de Israel que ayudaran a Salomón, su hijo, diciendo:

David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

18 « ¿No está con vosotros Jehová, vuestro Dios, el cual os ha dado paz por todas partes? Porque él ha entregado en mis manos a los habitantes de la tierra, y la tierra ha sido sometida delante de Jehová y delante de su pueblo.

“Isn’t Yahweh your God with you? Hasn’t he given you rest on every side? For he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Yahweh, and before his people.

19 A plicad, pues, ahora vuestros corazones y vuestras almas a buscar a Jehová, vuestro Dios. Levantaos y edificad el santuario de Jehová Dios, para traer el Arca del pacto de Jehová, y los utensilios consagrados a Dios, a la casa edificada al nombre de Jehová.»

Now set your heart and your soul to follow Yahweh your God. Arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of Yahweh God, to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for Yahweh’s name.”
