1 Y dijo David: Esta será la Casa del SEÑOR Dios, y éste será el altar del holocausto para Israel.

Then David said, “This is the house of Yahweh God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

2 D espués mandó David que se juntaran los extranjeros que estaban en la tierra de Israel, e hizo de ellos canteros, que labraran piedras para edificar la Casa de Dios.

David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut dressed stones to build God’s house.

3 A simismo aparejó David mucho hierro para la clavazón de las puertas, y para las junturas; y mucho bronce sin peso, y madera de cedro sin cuenta.

David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;

4 P orque los sidonios y tirios habían traído a David madera de cedro innumerable.

and cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the people of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

5 Y dijo David: Salomón mi hijo es aún muchacho y tierno, y la Casa que se ha de edificar al SEÑOR ha de ser magnífica por excelencia, para nombre y honra en todas las tierras; ahora pues yo le aparejaré lo necesario. Y preparó David antes de su muerte en gran abundancia.

David said, “Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.

6 L lamó entonces David a Salomón su hijo, y le mandó que edificara Casa al SEÑOR Dios de Israel.

Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel.

7 Y dijo David a Salomón: Hijo mío, en mi corazón tuve el edificar templo al nombre del SEÑOR mi Dios.

David said to Solomon his son, “As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my God.

8 M as vino a mí palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo: Tú has derramado mucha sangre, y has traído grandes guerras; no edificarás casa a mi nombre, porque has derramado mucha sangre en la tierra delante de mí.

But Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, ‘You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.

9 H e aquí, un hijo te nacerá, el cual será varón de reposo, porque yo le daré quietud de todos sus enemigos en derredor; por tanto su nombre será Salomón; y yo daré paz y reposo sobre Israel en sus días.

Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of peace. I will give him rest from all his enemies all around; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

10 E l edificará Casa a mi nombre, y él me será a mí por hijo, y yo le seré por padre; y afirmaré el trono de su reino sobre Israel para siempre.

He shall build a house for my name; and he will be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.’

11 A hora pues, hijo mío, sea contigo el SEÑOR, y seas prosperado, y edifiques Casa al SEÑOR tu Dios, como él ha dicho de ti.

Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and prosper you, and build the house of Yahweh your God, as he has spoken concerning you.

12 Y el SEÑOR te dé entendimiento y prudencia, y él te dé mandamientos para Israel; y que tú guardes la ley del SEÑOR tu Dios.

May Yahweh give you discretion and understanding, and put you in charge of Israel; that so you may keep the law of Yahweh your God.

13 E ntonces serás prosperado, si guardares para hacer los estatutos y derechos que el SEÑOR mandó a Moisés sobre Israel. Esfuérzate pues, y cobra ánimo; no temas, ni desmayes.

Then you will prosper, if you observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Yahweh gave Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed.

14 H e aquí, yo en mi estrechez he preparado para la Casa del SEÑOR cien mil talentos de oro, y un millar de millares de talentos de plata; no tiene peso el bronce ni el hierro, porque es mucho. Asimismo he preparado madera y piedra, a lo cual tú añadirás.

Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for Yahweh’s house one hundred thousand talents of gold, one million talents of silver, and brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.

15 T ú tienes contigo muchos oficiales, canteros, albañiles, y carpinteros, y todo hombre experto en toda obra.

There are also workmen with you in abundance, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of men who are skillful in every kind of work;

16 D el oro, de la plata, del bronce, y del hierro, no hay número. Levántate pues, y a la obra; que el SEÑOR será contigo.

of the gold, the silver, the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and may Yahweh be with you.”

17 A simismo mandó David a todos los príncipes de Israel que dieran ayuda a Salomón su hijo, diciendo:

David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

18 ¿ No es con vosotros el SEÑOR vuestro Dios, el cual os ha dado quietud de todas partes? Porque él ha entregado en mi mano los moradores de la tierra, y la tierra ha sido sujetada delante del SEÑOR, y delante de su pueblo.

“Isn’t Yahweh your God with you? Hasn’t he given you rest on every side? For he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Yahweh, and before his people.

19 P oned, pues, ahora vuestros corazones y vuestras almas en buscar al SEÑOR vuestro Dios; y levantaos, y edificad el santuario del SEÑOR Dios, para traer el arca del pacto del SEÑOR, y los santos vasos de Dios, a la Casa edificada al nombre del SEÑOR.

Now set your heart and your soul to follow Yahweh your God. Arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of Yahweh God, to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for Yahweh’s name.”
