1 Y aconteció a los nueve años de su reinado, en el mes décimo, a los diez del mes, que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia vino con todo su ejército contra Jerusalén, y la cercó; y levantaron contra ella ingenios alrededor.

In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it around it.

2 Y estuvo la ciudad cercada hasta el undécimo año del rey Sedequías.

So the city was besieged until the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

3 A los nueve del mes prevaleció el hambre en la ciudad, y no hubo pan para el pueblo de la tierra.

On the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

4 A bierta ya la ciudad, huyeron de noche todos los hombres de guerra por el camino de la puerta que estaba entre los dos muros, junto a los huertos del rey, estando los caldeos alrededor de la ciudad; y se fueron por el camino de la campiña.

Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city around it); and the king went by the way of the Arabah.

5 Y el ejército de los caldeos siguió al rey, y lo tomó en las llanuras de Jericó, habiéndose esparcido de él todo su ejército.

But the Chaldean army pursued the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

6 T omado, pues, el rey, le trajeron al rey de Babilonia a Ribla, y profirieron contra él sentencia.

Then they captured the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they passed judgment on him.

7 Y mataron a los hijos de Sedequías en presencia suya; y a Sedequías sacaron los ojos, y atado con cadenas de bronce lo llevaron a Babilonia.

They killed Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, then put out Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

8 ¶ En el mes quinto, a los siete del mes, que era el año diecinueve de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, vino a Jerusalén Nabuzaradán, capitán de los de la guardia, siervo del rey de Babilonia.

Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.

9 Y quemó la Casa del SEÑOR, y la casa del rey, y todas las casas de Jerusalén; y todas las casas de los principales quemó a fuego.

He burnt Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, he burnt with fire.

10 Y todo el ejército de los caldeos que estaba con el capitán de la guardia, derribó los muros de Jerusalén alrededor.

All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

11 Y a los del pueblo que habían quedado en la ciudad, y a los que se habían juntado al rey de Babilonia, y a los que habían quedado del vulgo, lo transportó Nabuzaradán, capitán de los de la guardia.

Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the residue of the people who were left in the city, and those who fell away, who fell to the king of Babylon, and the residue of the multitude.

12 M as de los pobres de la tierra dejó el capitán de los de la guardia, para que labraran las viñas y las tierras.

But the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to work the vineyards and fields.

13 Y quebraron los caldeos las columnas de bronce que estaban en la Casa del SEÑOR, y las basas, y el mar de bronce que estaba en la Casa del SEÑOR, y llevaron el bronce de ello a Babilonia.

The Chaldeans broke up the pillars of brass that were in Yahweh’s house and the bases and the bronze sea that were in Yahweh’s house, and carried the brass pieces to Babylon.

14 L levaron también los calderos, y las paletas, y las tenazas, y los cucharones, y todos los vasos de bronce con que ministraban.

They took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered.

15 I ncensarios, cuencos, los que de oro, en oro, y los que de plata, en plata, todo lo llevó el capitán de los de la guardia;

The captain of the guard took away the fire pans, the basins, that which was of gold, in gold, and that which was of silver, in silver.

16 l as dos columnas, un mar, y las basas que Salomón había hecho para la Casa del SEÑOR; no había peso de todos estos vasos.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases, which Solomon had made for Yahweh’s house, the brass of all these vessels was not weighed.

17 L a altura de una columna era dieciocho codos y tenía encima un capitel de bronce, y la altura del capitel era de tres codos; y sobre el capitel había un enredado y granadas alrededor, todo de bronce; y semejante obra había en la otra columna con el enredado.

The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a capital of brass was on it. The height of the capital was three cubits, with network and pomegranates on the capital around it, all of brass; and the second pillar with its network was like these.

18 A simismo tomó el capitán de los de la guardia a Seraías el primer sacerdote, y a Sofonías el segundo sacerdote, y tres guardas de la puerta;

The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold;

19 y de la ciudad tomó a un eunuco, el cual era prefecto sobre los hombres de guerra, y cinco varones de los continuos del rey, que se hallaron en la ciudad; y al escriba príncipe del ejército, que hacía la reseña de la gente de la tierra, con sesenta varones del pueblo de la tierra, que se hallaron en la ciudad.

and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and five men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe, the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the city.

20 E stos tomó Nabuzaradán, capitán de los de la guardia, y los llevó a Ribla al rey de Babilonia.

Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

21 Y el rey de Babilonia los hirió y mató en Ribla, en tierra de Hamat. Así fue transportado Judá de sobre su tierra.

The king of Babylon attacked them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.

22 ¶ Y al pueblo que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia dejó en tierra de Judá, puso por gobernador a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam hijo de Safán.

As for the people who were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor.

23 Y oyendo todos los príncipes del ejército, ellos y los varones, que el rey de Babilonia había puesto por gobernador a Gedalías, se vinieron a Gedalías en Mizpa, es a saber, Ismael hijo de Netanías, Johanán hijo de Carea, Searías hijo de Tanhumet, el netofatita, y Jaazanías hijo de Maacati, ellos con los suyos.

Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

24 E ntonces Gedalías les hizo juramento, a ellos y a los suyos, y les dijo: No tengáis temor de los siervos de los caldeos; habitad en la tierra, y servid al rey de Babilonia, y os irá bien.

Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them, “Don’t be afraid because of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.”

25 M as en el mes séptimo vino Ismael hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente real, y con él diez varones, e hirieron a Gedalías, y murió; y también a los judíos y caldeos que estaban con él en Mizpa.

But in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal offspring came, and ten men with him, and struck Gedaliah, so that he died, with the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.

26 E ntonces levantándose todo el pueblo, desde el menor hasta el mayor, con los capitanes del ejército, se fueron a Egipto por temor de los caldeos.

All the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces, arose, and came to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

27 ¶ Y aconteció a los treinta y siete años de la transportación de Joaquín rey de Judá, en el mes duodécimo, a los veintisiete del mes, que Evil-merodac rey de Babilonia, en el primer año de su reinado, levantó la cabeza de Joaquín rey de Judá, sacándolo de la casa de la cárcel;

In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;

28 y le habló bien, y puso su asiento sobre el asiento de los reyes que con él estaban en Babilonia.

and he spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

29 Y le mudó los vestidos de su prisión, y comió pan siempre delante de él todos los días de su vida.

and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life;

30 Y el rey le hacía dar su comida de continuo, cada cosa en su tiempo todos los días de su vida.

and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him from the king, every day a portion, all the days of his life.
