1 ¶ Cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios talare los gentiles, cuya tierra el SEÑOR tu Dios te da a ti, y tú los heredares, y habitares en sus ciudades, y en sus casas;

When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations, whose land Yahweh your God gives you, and you succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses;

2 t e apartarás tres ciudades en medio de tu tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da para que la heredes.

you shall set apart three cities for yourselves in the middle of your land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.

3 T e arreglarás el camino, y dividirás en tres partes el término de tu tierra, que el SEÑOR tu Dios te dará en heredad, y será para que todo homicida huya allí.

You shall prepare the way, and divide the borders of your land, which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, into three parts, that every man slayer may flee there.

4 Y éste es el caso del homicida que ha de huir allí, y vivirá: el que hiriere a su prójimo por yerro, que no le tenía enemistad desde ayer ni anteayer;

This is the case of the man slayer who shall flee there and live. Whoever kills his neighbor unawares, and didn’t hate him in time past;

5 y el que fue con su prójimo al monte a cortar leña, y poniendo fuerza con su mano en el hacha para cortar algún leño, saltó el hierro del cabo, y dio contra su prójimo, y murió; aquel huirá a una de estas ciudades, y vivirá.

as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the ax to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle, and lights on his neighbor, so that he dies, he shall flee to one of these cities and live.

6 P ara que el vengador de la sangre no vaya tras el homicida, cuando se enardeciere su corazón, y le alcance por ser largo el camino, y le hiera de muerte, no debiendo ser condenado a muerte; por cuanto no tenía enemistad desde ayer ni anteayer con el muerto.

Otherwise, the avenger of blood might pursue the man slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally; even though he was not worthy of death, because he didn’t hate him in time past.

7 P or tanto yo te mando, diciendo: Tres ciudades te apartarás.

Therefore I command you to set apart three cities for yourselves.

8 Y si el SEÑOR tu Dios ensanchare tu término, como lo juró a tus padres, y te diere toda la tierra que dijo a tus padres que había de dar;

If Yahweh your God enlarges your border, as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers;

9 c uando guardaras todos estos mandamientos, que yo te mando hoy, para ponerlos por obra, que ames al SEÑOR tu Dios y andes en sus caminos todos los días, entonces añadirás otras tres ciudades a más de estas tres;

if you keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you today, to love Yahweh your God, and to walk ever in his ways; then you shall add three cities more for yourselves, besides these three.

10 p ara que no sea derramada sangre inocente en medio de tu tierra, que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da por heredad, y no sea sobre ti la sangre.

This is so that innocent blood will not be shed in the middle of your land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, leaving blood guilt on you.

11 M as cuando hubiere alguno que aborreciere a su prójimo, y lo acechare, y se levantare sobre él, y lo hiriere de muerte, y muriere, y huyere a alguna de estas ciudades;

But if any man hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, rises up against him, strikes him mortally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities;

12 e ntonces los ancianos de su ciudad enviarán y lo sacarán de allí, y lo entregarán en mano del pariente vengador de la sangre, y morirá.

then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

13 N o le perdonará tu ojo; y quitarás de Israel la culpa de la sangre inocente, y te irá bien.

Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall purge the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

14 ¶ No reducirás el término de tu prójimo, el cual señalaron los antiguos en tu heredad, la que poseyeres en la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da para que la heredes.

You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which they of old time have set, in your inheritance which you shall inherit, in the land that Yahweh your God gives you to possess.

15 N o valdrá un testigo contra ninguno en cualquier iniquidad, o en cualquier pecado, en cualquier pecado que cometiere. En el dicho de dos o tres testigos consistirá el negocio.

One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.

16 C uando se levantare testigo falso contra alguno, para testificar contra él rebelión,

If an unrighteous witness rises up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing,

17 e ntonces los dos hombres litigantes se presentarán delante del SEÑOR, delante de los sacerdotes y jueces que fueren en aquellos días;

then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Yahweh, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;

18 y los jueces inquirirán bien, y si pareciere ser aquel testigo falso, que testificó falsamente contra su hermano,

and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother;

19 h aréis a él como él pensó hacer a su hermano; y quitarás el mal de en medio de ti.

then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother. So you shall remove the evil from among you.

20 Y los que quedaren oirán, y temerán, y no volverán más a cometer una maldad como ésta, en medio de ti.

Those who remain shall hear, and fear, and will never again commit any such evil among you.

21 Y no perdonará tu ojo; vida por vida, ojo por ojo, diente por diente, mano por mano, pie por pie.

Your eyes shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
