1 T his word came to Jeremiah for the Jews living in the land of Egypt, at Migdol, Tahpanhes, Memphis, and in the land of Pathros, saying,

2 “ This is what the Lord of All, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have seen all the trouble I have brought to Jerusalem and to all the cities of Judah. See, today they are a waste. No one lives in them.

– Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: Вы видели все невзгоды, которые Я обрушил на Иерусалим и на все города Иудеи. Сегодня они лежат в развалинах, и никто не живет там

3 T his is because of the sins they did that made Me angry. They kept burning special perfume and worshiping other gods whom they, you, and your fathers had not known.

из-за злодеяний, которые они совершили. Они вызывали Мой гнев, возжигая благовония и поклоняясь чужим богам, которых не знали ни вы, ни ваши предки.

4 Y et I sent you all My servants who spoke for Me again and again, saying, “O, do not do this very sinful thing which I hate!”

Снова и снова Я посылал Моих слуг пророков, которые говорили: “Не делайте этой мерзости, которую Я ненавижу!”

5 B ut they did not listen and would not turn from their sinful ways. They would not stop burning special perfume to other gods.

Но они не слушали и не обращали внимания; они не отступали от своих злодеяний и не переставали возжигать благовония чужим богам.

6 S o My anger was poured out and burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. And they have been destroyed and laid waste, as they are today.

За это Мой страшный гнев прорвался и заполыхал в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима, превратив их в заброшенные руины, каковы они и сегодня.

7 N ow this is what the Lord God of All, the God of Israel, says: “Why are you hurting yourselves so much? Why are you cutting off from Judah man and woman, child and baby, and leaving yourselves without anyone?

И теперь так говорит Господь, Бог Сил, Бог Израиля: – Зачем вам наводить на себя такую страшную беду? Зачем наводите гибель на мужчин и женщин, детей и младенцев Иудеи, на всех, без остатка?

8 Y ou are making Me angry with the works of your hands. You burn special perfume to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live. And so you will be cut off and become a curse and a shame among all the nations of the earth.

Зачем вызывать Мой гнев делами своих рук, возжигая благовония чужим богам в Египте, куда вы пришли поселиться? Вы погубите себя и сделаете самих себя предметом проклятий и порицания среди всех народов земли.

9 H ave you forgotten the sins of your fathers, the sins of the kings of Judah, the sins of their wives, your own sins, and the sins of your wives? They sinned in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem.

Неужели вы забыли злодеяния, совершенные вашими отцами, злодеяния царей Иудеи и их жен, а также злодеяния ваши и жен ваших в земле Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима?

10 T hey have not been sorry for their sins even to this day. They have not feared Me or walked in My Laws which I have given you and your fathers.”’

Вплоть до сегодняшнего дня вы не смирились, не боитесь, и не живете по Моему Закону и по Моим установлениям, которые Я дал вам и вашим предкам.

11 “ So the Lord of All, the God of Israel, says, ‘I will turn against you and destroy all Judah.

Поэтому так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: – Я решил обрушить на вас беду и погубить всю Иудею.

12 I will take away those left of Judah who have set their mind on going into the land of Egypt to live. They will come to an end in the land of Egypt. They will fall by the sword or die from hunger. Both the small and the great will die by the sword or hunger. They will be a curse and a cause of fear. They will be spoken against and put to shame.

Я заберу уцелевших иудеев, которые решили идти в Египет и поселиться там. Все они погибнут в Египте; они падут от меча или умрут от голода. Все, от малого до великого, умрут от меча или голода. Они станут предметом проклятий и ужаса, порицания и презрения.

13 I will punish those who live in the land of Egypt as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword and hunger and disease.

Я накажу живущих в Египте мечом, голодом и мором, как наказал Иерусалим.

14 S o none of those left of Judah who have come to live in the land of Egypt will be able to leave and go to the land of Judah, where they want to return and live. None will return except a few who run for their lives.’”

Никто из оставшихся иудеев, пришедших поселиться в Египте, не спасется и не уцелеет, чтобы вернуться в землю иудейскую, куда они будут стремиться вернуться, чтобы жить там; не вернется никто, кроме нескольких беженцев.

15 T hen all the men who knew that their wives were burning special perfume to other gods, and all the many women who stood by, and all the people who were living in Pathros in the land of Egypt, said to Jeremiah,

Тогда все мужчины, знавшие, что их жены жгут благовония чужим богам, и все женщины, которые там были – огромное собрание – и весь народ, живущий в Нижнем и Верхнем Египте, сказали Иеремии:

16 “ We will not listen to what you have said to us in the name of the Lord!

– Мы не станем слушать того, что ты говоришь нам от Имени Господа!

17 B ut we will do everything that we have said we would do. We will burn special perfume to the queen of heaven and pour out drink gifts to her. We will do just as we ourselves, our fathers, our kings and our leaders did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had much food, and got along well, and had no trouble.

Мы обязательно будем делать все, о чем дали обеты: возжигать благовония богине неба и совершать ей жертвенные возлияния, как делали и мы, и наши отцы, наши цари и наши сановники в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима. Мы тогда ели досыта, жили в благополучии и не видели зла.

18 B ut since we stopped burning special perfume to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink gifts to her, we have been without everything. We have been destroyed by the sword and by hunger.”

А с тех пор, как мы перестали возжигать благовония богине неба и совершать для нее жертвенные возлияния, мы впали в нужду и гибнем от меча и голода.

19 A nd the women said, “When we baked cakes which looked like the queen of heaven, burned special perfume, and poured out our drink gifts, did not our husbands know about it?”

А женщины сказали: – Когда мы возжигали благовония богине неба и совершали ей жертвенные возлияния, разве наши мужья не знали, что мы делаем для нее лепешки с ее изображением и приносим ей жертвенные возлияния?

20 T hen Jeremiah said to all the people, both the men and women, who had given him this answer,

Тогда Иеремия сказал всему народу – и мужчинам, и женщинам, которые отвечали ему:

21 “ As for the special perfume that you and your fathers, your kings and your leaders, and the people of the land burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, did not the Lord remember it? Did it not come into His mind?

– Разве Господь не помнит и не думает о благовониях, которые вы, ваши отцы, ваши цари и сановники, и народ страны возжигали в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима?

22 T he Lord could no longer stand by while you did such sinful things. You have done very sinful acts. So your land has been laid waste. It has become a hated and cursed land, a place without people, as it is today.

Когда Господь не мог больше терпеть ваших злодеяний и мерзостей, ваша земля стала предметом проклятий и необитаемой пустыней, какой она остается и сегодня.

23 B ecause you have burned special perfume and have sinned against the Lord and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord or walked in His Laws or done what He said to do, this trouble has come upon you, as it has this day.”

За то, что вы возжигали благовония, грешили против Господа, не слушались Его и не жили по Его Закону, установлениям и правилам, эта беда и пришла к вам, как вы сами сегодня видите.

24 T hen Jeremiah said to all the people and all the women, “Hear the Word of the Lord, all you of Judah who are in the land of Egypt.

Потом Иеремия сказал всему народу и женщинам: – Слушайте слово Господа, весь народ Иудеи, что в Египте.

25 T his is what the Lord of All, the God of Israel, says: ‘You and your wives have said with your mouths and have done it with your hands, saying, “For sure we will keep our promises to burn special perfume to the queen of heaven and pour out drink gifts to her.” Then keep your promises! Do what you have promised!’

Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: «Вы с вашими женами совершили на деле то, что обещали, говоря: “Мы непременно будем исполнять свои обеты, которые мы дали, возжигая благовония и совершая жертвенные возлияния богине неба”. Давайте же, делайте, что обещали! Исполняйте свои обеты!»

26 B ut hear the Word of the Lord, all you of Judah who are living in the land of Egypt: ‘I have sworn by My great name,’ says the Lord, ‘that My name will no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, “The Lord God lives.”

Но выслушай слово Господа, весь народ Иудеи, живущий в Египте: «Клянусь Своим великим Именем, – говорит Господь, – что никому из иудеев, живущих во всем Египте, не будет впредь дано призывать Мое Имя и клясться: “Верно, как то, что жив Владыка Господь”.

27 F or I am watching over them for trouble and not for good. All the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will be destroyed by the sword and hunger until there is an end of them.

Я буду наблюдать за ними, чтобы причинить им зло, а не благо; иудеи в Египте будут гибнуть от меча и голода, пока все не погибнут.

28 A nd those who get away from the sword and return from Egypt to the land of Judah will be few. Then all those left of Judah who have gone to the land of Egypt to live will know whose word will stand, Mine or theirs.

Тех же, кто спасется от меча и вернется из Египта в иудейскую землю, будет очень мало. Тогда весь оставшийся народ Иудеи, который пришел в Египет, чтобы поселиться там, узнает, чье слово сбудется, Мое или их.

29 T his will be the special thing for you to see,’ says the Lord. ‘I am going to punish you in this place, so that you may know that My words will be sure to stand against you for your hurt.’

Вот вам знамение того, – возвещает Господь, – что Я накажу вас в этом краю, чтобы вы знали, что исполнятся слова Мои вам на горе.

30 T he Lord says, ‘I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt over to those who hate him and want to kill him. It will be just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who hated him and wanted to kill him.’”

Так говорит Господь: – Я отдам фараона Хофру, египетского царя, в руки его врагов, которые ищут его смерти, как отдал Я Цедекию, царя Иудеи, в руки Навуходоносора, царя Вавилона, врага, который хотел убить его».
