1 T he proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Притчи Соломона: Мудрый сын – радость своего отца, а глупый сын – горе своей матери.

2 T reasures of wickedness profit nothing; But righteousness delivereth from death.

Не приносят блага сокровища, нажитые неправдой, а праведность спасает от смерти.

3 J ehovah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; But he thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.

Не допустит Господь, чтобы праведник голодал, и не даст нечестивым исполнить свои желания.

4 H e becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Ленивые руки ввергают в бедность, а усердные руки приносят богатство.

5 H e that gathereth in summer is a wise son; But he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Собирающий плоды летом – разумный сын, а спящий в пору жатвы – сын беспутный.

6 B lessings are upon the head of the righteous; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Головы праведников венчают благословения, но на устах нечестивых – жестокость.

7 T he memory of the righteous is blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.

Память о праведнике будет благословенна, а имя нечестивых сгниет.

8 T he wise in heart will receive commandments; But a prating fool shall fall.

Мудрый сердцем внимает повелениям, а глупца болтливого ждет крушение.

9 H e that walketh uprightly walketh surely; But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Идущие честно, идут в безопасности, но искривляющие свой путь будут уличены.

10 H e that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; But a prating fool shall fall.

Лукаво подмигивающий накличет беду, а болтливого глупца ждет крушение.

11 T he mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Уста праведника – источник жизни, а уста нечестивых таят насилие.

12 H atred stirreth up strifes; But love covereth all transgressions.

Ненависть будит раздоры, а любовь покрывает все грехи.

13 I n the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

На губах разумного находится мудрость, но розга – для спины безрассудного.

14 W ise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.

Мудрецы сберегают знание, но уста глупца приближают гибель.

15 T he rich man's wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Состояние богатого – крепкий город его, а нищета бедных – их гибель.

16 T he labor of the righteous tendeth to life; The increase of the wicked, to sin.

Плата праведному – это жизнь, прибыль нечестивых – грешить опять.

17 H e is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.

Внемлющий наставлению – на пути жизни, но сбивается с пути не слушающий укора.

18 H e that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

Лживые губы у таящего ненависть, и глуп, кто разносит клевету.

19 I n the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.

При многословии не избежать греха, но тот, кто язык удерживает, разумен.

20 T he tongue of the righteous is as choice silver: The heart of the wicked is little worth.

Язык праведника – отборное серебро, но грош цена разуму нечестивых.

21 T he lips of the righteous feed many; But the foolish die for lack of understanding.

Многих питают уста праведника, а глупцы умирают от недостатка разума.

22 T he blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich; And he addeth no sorrow therewith.

Благословение Господа обогащает, и не прилагает Он скорби к богатству.

23 I t is as sport to a fool to do wickedness; And so is wisdom to a man of understanding.

Забава глупца – поступать порочно, а мудрость – радость разумного.

24 T he fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Что пугает нечестивых, то и постигнет их, а желания праведных будут исполнены.

25 W hen the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

Пронесется буря – и нет нечестивых, а праведные устоят вовеки.

26 A s vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him.

Как уксус зубам и дым глазам, так и лентяй для тех, кто его посылает.

27 T he fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Страх перед Господом прибавит жизни, а лета нечестивого будут кратки.

28 T he hope of the righteous shall be gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Надежда праведных ведет к радости, а предвкушение нечестивых не сбудется.

29 T he way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

Путь Господень – убежище для непорочных, но погибель для тех, кто творит зло.

30 T he righteous shall never be removed; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.

Праведник не искоренится вовеки, но нечестивые на земле не останутся.

31 T he mouth of the righteous bringeth forth wisdom; But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.

Уста праведника изрекают мудрость, а порочный язык будет отсечен.

32 T he lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; But the mouth of the wicked speaketh perverseness.

Губы праведника знают уместное, а уста нечестивых – порочное.
