1 A nd all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, by their journeys, according to the commandment of Jehovah, and encamped in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

Народ израильский отправился в путь из пустыни Син и кочевал с места на место, как повелел Господь. Они расположились лагерем в Рефидиме, но там не было воды, чтобы утолить жажду.

2 W herefore the people stove with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why strive ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah?

Они стали роптать на Моисея и говорить: – Дай нам воды. Мы хотим пить. Моисей отвечал: – Почему вы обвиняете меня? Зачем искушаете Господа?

3 A nd the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore hast thou brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

Но народ страдал от жажды и роптал на Моисея. Они говорили: – Зачем ты вывел нас из Египта? Ты хочешь уморить нас, наших детей и скот жаждой?

4 A nd Moses cried unto Jehovah, saying, What shall I do unto this people? They are almost ready to stone me.

Моисей взмолился к Господу: – Что мне делать с этим народом? Они готовы побить меня камнями.

5 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Pass on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and they rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thy hand, and go.

Господь ответил Моисею: – Возьми с собой несколько старейшин Израиля и пойди впереди народа. Возьми посох, которым ты ударил по Нилу, и иди.

6 B ehold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Я встану перед тобой на скале в Хориве. Ударь по скале, из нее потечет вода, и народ сможет утолить жажду. Моисей сделал так на глазах у израильских старейшин.

7 A nd he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the striving of the children of Israel, and because they tempted Jehovah, saying, Is Jehovah among us, or not?

Он назвал то место Масса и Мерива, потому что израильтяне ссорились и искушали Господа, говоря: «С нами Господь или нет?» Победа над амаликитянами

8 T hen came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

Амаликитяне пришли и напали на израильтян в Рефидиме.

9 A nd Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to-morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.

Моисей сказал Иисусу: – Выбери несколько человек из народа и выйди сразиться с амаликитянами. Завтра я встану на вершине холма с Божьим посохом в руках.

10 S o Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

Иисус выступил на сражение с амаликитянами, как повелел Моисей, а Моисей, Аарон и Хур поднялись на вершину холма.

11 A nd it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

Когда Моисей поднимал руки, израильтяне побеждали, но едва он опускал руки, побеждали амаликитяне,

12 B ut Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

потому что руки у Моисея уставали. Тогда Аарон и Хур взяли камень, положили под него, и он сел. Они поддерживали его руки: один с одной стороны, другой – с другой, и руки до заката остались тверды.

13 A nd Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

Так Иисус разбил войско амаликитян.

14 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

Господь сказал Моисею: – Запиши, чтобы помнили, в свиток и прочитай Иисусу, что Я совершенно изглажу память об Амалике из поднебесной.

15 A nd Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi;

Моисей воздвиг жертвенник и назвал его «Господь – мое знамя »,

16 A nd he said, Jehovah hath sworn: Jehovah will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

потому что он сказал: – Рука была воздета к престолу Господа. Господь будет воевать против амаликитян из поколения в поколение.
