1 A nd it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.

Когда царь Езекия услышал это, он разорвал на себе одежду, оделся в рубище и пошел в храм Господа.

2 A nd he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

Он послал распорядителя дворца Элиакима, писаря Шевну и старших священников, одетых в рубище, к пророку Исаии, сыну Амоца.

3 A nd they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of contumely; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

Они сказали ему: – Так говорит Езекия: «Сегодня день беды, наказания и бесчестия; словно дитя вот-вот должно родиться, а родить нет силы.

4 I t may be Jehovah thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Jehovah thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.

Может быть, Господь, твой Бог, услышит слова Рабсака, которого его господин, царь Ассирии, послал глумиться над живым Богом, и накажет его за слова, которые услышал Господь, твой Бог. Вознеси же молитву за тех, кто еще жив!»

5 S o the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

Когда приближенные царя Езекии пришли к Исаии,

6 A nd Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith Jehovah, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

тот сказал им: – Скажите своему господину: «Так говорит Господь: Не бойся того, что ты слышал – тех слов, которыми оскорбляли Меня слуги царя Ассирии.

7 B ehold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear tidings, and shall return unto his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

Вот, Я нашлю на него такой дух, что когда он услышит одну весть, то вернется в свою страну, где Я судил ему пасть от меча».

8 S o Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah; for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

Когда Рабсак услышал, что царь Ассирии оставил Лахиш, он вернулся и нашел царя осаждающим Ливну. Новая угроза Синаххериба и молитва Езекии (4 Цар. 19: 9-19)

9 A nd he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He is come out to fight against thee. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

Синаххериб получил весть о том, что Тиргака, царь Куша, идет на него войной. Услышав об этом, он послал к Езекии послов, чтобы сказать:

10 T hus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

– Скажите Езекии, царю Иудеи: «Не давай Богу, на Которого ты надеешься, обманывать тебя, когда Он говорит: “Иерусалим не будет отдан царю Ассирии”.

11 B ehold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

Ты же слышал о том, что цари Ассирии сделали со всеми странами, предав их полному уничтожению. А разве ты уцелеешь?

12 H ave the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden that were in Telassar?

Разве боги народов, истребленных моими предками, боги Гозана, Харрана, Рецефа и народа Едена, который был в Телассаре, спасли их?

13 W here is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?

Где теперь царь Хамата, царь Арпада, цари городов Сепарваима, Ены или Иввы?»

14 A nd Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up unto the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah.

Езекия получил письмо через послов и прочитал его. Тогда он пошел в храм Господа и развернул его перед Господом.

15 A nd Hezekiah prayed unto Jehovah, saying,

Езекия молился Господу:

16 O Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, that sittest above the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

– О Господь Сил, Бог Израиля, восседающий на херувимах, лишь Ты – Бог над всеми земными царствами. Ты создал небо и землю.

17 I ncline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, who hath sent to defy the living God.

Склони, Господи, ухо Свое и услышь; открой, Господи, глаза Свои и взгляни; услышь все слова Синаххериба, которые он послал, чтобы глумиться над живым Богом.

18 O f a truth, Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the countries, and their land,

Правда, Господи, что ассирийские цари погубили все эти народы и их страны,

19 a nd have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.

бросали их богов в огонь и уничтожили их, потому что то были не боги, а только дерево и камень, обработанные руками человека.

20 N ow therefore, O Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art Jehovah, even thou only.

Теперь, Господи, наш Бог, избавь нас от его руки, чтобы все царства земные узнали, что только Ты – Господь. Пророчество Исаии о падении Синаххериба (4 Цар. 19: 20-34)

21 T hen Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria,

И Исаия, сын Амоца, послал сказать Езекии: – Так говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: «Ты молился о Синаххерибе, царе Ассирии».

22 t his is the word which Jehovah hath spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion hath despised thee and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

Вот слово, которое сказал о нем Господь: – Дева, дочь Сиона, презирает тебя, над тобой смеется. Дочь Иерусалима вслед тебе головой качает.

23 W hom hast thou defied and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Над кем ты глумился, кого оскорблял? На кого ты повысил голос и поднял кичливые глаза? На Святого Израилева!

24 B y thy servants hast thou defied the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir-trees thereof; and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field;

Через своих рабов ты глумился над Владыкой. Ты сказал: «Со множеством моих колесниц я поднялся на горные вершины, на дальние склоны Ливана. Я срубил его высочайшие кедры, его лучшие кипарисы. Я достиг его самых отдаленных вершин, его наилучших лесов.

25 I have digged and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.

Я копал колодцы и пил воду чужих земель. Ступнями своих ног я иссушил все реки Египта».

26 H ast thou not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? now have I brought it to pass, that it should be thine to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.

Разве ты не слышал? Давно Я это определил, в древние дни задумал. Теперь Я это исполнил, дав тебе превратить укрепленные города в груды развалин.

27 T herefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as a field of grain before it is grown up.

Их жители обессилены, испуганы, опозорены. Они как растения в поле, как нежные зеленые побеги, как трава, пробившаяся на крыше, опаленная, прежде чем вырасти.

28 B ut I know thy sitting down, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy raging against me.

Но Я знаю, где ты садишься, когда выходишь или входишь, и как ты яришься на Меня.

29 B ecause of thy raging against me, and because thine arrogancy is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

За твое неистовство против Меня и за твою надменность, что достигла Моих ушей, Я продену в твой нос Мое кольцо, вложу в твой рот Мои удила и верну тебя назад той дорогой, которой ты пришел.

30 A nd this shall be the sign unto thee: ye shall eat this year that which groweth of itself, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.

Это будет тебе знамением, Езекия: В этом году вы будете есть то, что вырастет само собой, а в следующем году то, что вырастет из этого. Но в третий год сейте и жните, сажайте виноградники и ешьте их плоды.

31 A nd the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

Уцелевшие из дома Иуды опять пустят корни внизу и принесут плод наверху.

32 F or out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that shall escape. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

Ведь из Иерусалима выйдет остаток, и с горы Сион – уцелевшие. Это совершит ревность Господа Сил.

33 T herefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

Поэтому Господь говорит о царе Ассирии так: – Он не войдет в этот город и не пустит сюда стрелы. Он не приступит к нему со щитом и не насыплет против него осадного вала.

34 B y the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come unto this city, saith Jehovah.

Он вернется той же дорогой, какой пришел, он не войдет в этот город, – возвещает Господь. –

35 F or I will defend this city to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

Я защищу этот город и спасу его, ради Себя и ради Давида, Моего слуги! Поражение ассирийской армии (4 Цар. 19: 35-37; 2 Пар. 32: 21)

36 A nd the angel of Jehovah went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

И Ангел Господень вышел и предал смерти в лагере ассирийцев сто восемьдесят пять тысяч человек. Когда наступило утро, все они были мертвы.

37 S o Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

Тогда Синаххериб, царь Ассирии, снял лагерь и ушел. Он возвратился домой и жил в Ниневии.

38 A nd it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.

Однажды, когда он поклонялся в храме своего бога Нисроха, его сыновья Адрамелех и Сарецер поразили его мечом и бежали в араратскую землю. И царем вместо него стал его сын Асархаддон.
