1 A nd there was a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

2 A nd he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou didst utter a curse, and didst also speak it in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be my son of Jehovah.

сказал своей матери: – Тысяча сто шекелей серебра, которые пропали у тебя и за которые ты при мне прокляла вора, – они у меня; это я его взял. Тогда его мать сказала: – Да благословит Господь моего сына!

3 A nd he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I verily dedicate the silver unto Jehovah from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

Он вернул тысячу сто шекелей серебра своей матери, и она сказала: – Я посвящаю это серебро Господу за моего сына, чтобы сделать из него истукан и литого идола. Я отдаю его тебе.

4 A nd when he restored the money unto his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and it was in the house of Micah.

И когда он вернул серебро своей матери, она взяла из него двести шекелей и отдала плавильщику, который сделал из них истукан и литого идола. Их поставили в доме Михи.

5 A nd the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

У этого человека, Михи, было святилище. Он сделал эфод и домашних богов и посвятил одного из своих сыновей, чтобы он был у него священником.

6 I n those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

В те дни у Израиля не было царя, и каждый делал то, что считал правильным.

7 A nd there was a young man out of Beth-lehem-judah, of the family of Judah, who was a Levite; and he sojourned there.

Один молодой левит из Вифлеема в Иудее, живший среди клана Иуды,

8 A nd the man departed out of the city, out of Beth-lehem-judah, to sojourn where he could find a place, and he came to the hill-country of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

оставил свой дом и пошел искать, где бы ему поселиться. Странствуя, он пришел в дом Михи в нагорьях Ефрема.

9 A nd Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Beth-lehem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

Миха спросил его: – Откуда ты? – Я левит из Вифлеема в Иудее, – ответил он. – Я ищу, где мне поселиться.

10 A nd Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.

Миха сказал ему: – Живи у меня и будь мне отцом и священником, а я буду давать тебе десять шекелей серебра в год, одежду и пропитание.

11 A nd the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.

Левит согласился остаться у него и стал ему как один из его сыновей.

12 A nd Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

Миха посвятил левита, и юноша стал у него священником и жил в его доме.

13 T hen said Micah, Now know I that Jehovah will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

Миха сказал: – Теперь я знаю, что Господь благоволит ко мне, раз этот левит стал моим священником.
