1 F inally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk, --that ye abound more and more.

И наконец, братья, когда вы уже научились от нас жить так, чтобы жизнь ваша была угодна Богу, – а вы так и живете, – мы просим и умоляем вас ради Господа Иисуса: преуспевайте в этом еще больше.

2 F or ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

Вы помните, какие указания от Господа Иисуса мы вам дали.

3 F or this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;

Бог хочет, чтобы вы были святы, чтобы вы воздерживались от разврата,

4 t hat each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

чтобы каждый из вас умел властвовать над своим телом со святостью и достоинством,

5 n ot in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;

а не шел на поводу своих низменных страстей, как это делают язычники, не знающие Бога.

6 t hat no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

Никто пусть не причиняет в этом деле зла своему брату и не обманывает его. За все такие грехи человек понесет наказание от Бога, и мы вас об этом предупреждали и раньше.

7 F or God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

Ведь Господь не призвал нас к нечистоте, а призвал к святой жизни.

8 T herefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.

И следовательно, кто отвергает этот призыв, тот отвергает не человека, а Бога, Который дает вам Своего Святого Духа.

9 B ut concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;

Думаю, что нам нет нужды писать вам о любви к братьям, ведь вы сами были научены Богом любить друг друга.

10 f or indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;

Мы знаем, что вы любите всех братьев по всей Македонии. Хотим лишь, чтобы вы преуспевали в любви еще больше.

11 a nd that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;

Старайтесь жить порядочно, занимаясь каждый своим делом и работая своими руками, как мы вам уже наказывали раньше,

12 t hat ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.

чтобы ваша жизнь вызывала уважение неверующих, и чтобы вам ни в чем не иметь нужды. О пришествии Господа

13 B ut we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

Братья! Мы не хотим оставить вас в незнании относительно тех, кто умер, чтобы вы не скорбели о них, как скорбят другие, у которых нет надежды.

14 F or if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Мы верим, что Иисус умер и что Он воскрес, и поэтому верим, что вместе с Иисусом Бог приведет и тех, кто умер с верой в Него.

15 F or this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.

Мы теперь говорим вам со слов Господа, что мы, которые будем еще в живых к тому времени, когда придет Господь, нисколько не опередим тех, кто к этому моменту уже умрет.

16 F or the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;

Потому что Господь Сам придет с небес (о чем возвестят громкий клич, голос архангела и труба Божья), и умершие с верой в Христа воскреснут первыми.

17 t hen we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Потом и мы, оставшиеся в живых, будем вместе с ними подняты на облаках, чтобы встретить Господа в воздухе, и уже всегда с той поры будем с Ним.

18 W herefore comfort one another with these words.

Поэтому ободряйте друг друга этими словами.
