1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

Господь сказал Моисею:

2 S end thou men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a prince among them.

– Пошли людей разведать землю Ханаана, которую Я отдаю израильтянам. Из каждого их рода пошли по одному вождю.

3 A nd Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Jehovah: all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel.

Моисей послал их из пустыни Паран, как повелел Господь. Все они были вождями израильтян.

4 A nd these were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

Вот их имена: из рода Рувима – Шаммуа, сын Заккура;

5 O f the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

из рода Симеона – Шафат, сын Хори;

6 O f the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

из рода Иуды – Халев, сын Иефонниин;

7 O f the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

из рода Иссахара – Игал, сын Иосифа;

8 O f the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun.

из рода Ефрема – Осия, сын Навин;

9 O f the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

из рода Вениамина – Фалтий, сын Рафу;

10 O f the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

из рода Завулона – Гаддиил, сын Соди;

11 O f the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

из рода Иосифа (через Манассию) – Гаддий, сын Суси;

12 O f the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

из рода Дана – Аммиил, сын Гемалли;

13 O f the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

из рода Асира – Сефур, сын Михаила;

14 O f the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

из рода Неффалима – Нахбий, сын Вофси;

15 O f the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

из рода Гада – Геуил, сын Махи.

16 T hese are the names of the men that Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.

Таковы имена тех, кого Моисей послал разведать землю. (Раньше Моисей дал Осии, сыну Навина, имя Иисус.)

17 A nd Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way by the South, and go up into the hill-country:

Посылая их разведать Ханаан, Моисей сказал: – Идите через Негев в нагорья.

18 a nd see the land, what it is; and the people that dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;

Посмотрите, что это за земля и что за народ живет там, силен он или слаб, мал или велик?

19 a nd what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;

Какова земля, на которой он живет, хорошая или плохая? В каких городах он живет: без стен они или укреплены?

20 a nd what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.

Какова там почва, плодородная или бесплодная? Есть там деревья или нет? Будьте смелы, возьмите с собой плодов этой земли. (Как раз настала пора созревания винограда.)

21 S o they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.

Они пошли и разведали землю от пустыни Цин до самого Рехова, что у Лево-Хамата.

22 A nd they went up by the South, and came unto Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

Они пошли в Негев и пришли в Хеврон, где жили Ахиман, Шешай и Талмай, потомки Анака. (Хеврон был построен за семь лет до Цоана в Египте.)

23 A nd they came unto the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it upon a staff between two; they brought also of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

Придя в долину Эшкол, они срезали виноградную ветку с одной гроздью ягод, и двое из них понесли ее на шесте. Еще они взяли гранатов и инжира.

24 T hat place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

Это место было названо долиной Эшкол из-за грозди, которую срезали там израильтяне.

25 A nd they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.

Через сорок дней они вернулись из разведки. Рассказ разведчиков

26 A nd they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

Они вернулись к Моисею, Аарону и обществу израильскому в Кадеш в пустыне Паран. Там они отчитывались перед ними и народом и показали им плоды этой земли.

27 A nd they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us; and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

Они сказали Моисею: – Мы были в краю, куда ты нас посылал: там на самом деле течет молоко и мед! Вот его плоды.

28 H owbeit the people that dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

Но народ, который живет там, силен, а его города укреплены и очень велики. Мы даже видели там потомков Анака.

29 A malek dwelleth in the land of the South: and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, dwell in the hill-country; and the Canaanite dwelleth by the sea, and along by the side of the Jordan.

Амаликитяне живут в Негеве, хетты, иевусеи и аморреи – в нагорьях, а хананеи – у моря и по Иордану.

30 A nd Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Халев успокоил народ перед Моисеем и сказал: – Идем и овладеем землей, ведь нам это по силам.

31 B ut the men that went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Но те, кто ходил с ним, сказали: – Мы не можем напасть на этот народ – он сильнее нас.

32 A nd they brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.

Они порочили перед израильтянами землю, которую разведали, говоря: – Земля, которую мы разведали, пожирает своих обитателей. Все люди, которых мы там видели, огромного роста.

33 A nd there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Мы видели там исполинов (анакиты происходят от исполинов). Рядом с ними мы казались себе кузнечиками, да и в их глазах были такими же.
