1 G reat is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

Велик Господь и достоин всякой хвалы в городе нашего Бога, на Его святой горе.

2 B eautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.

Высока она и прекрасна – радость всей земли, гора Сион на окраинах севера, это город великого Царя.

3 G od hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.

Бог пребывает в ее дворцах, известен как твердыня.

4 F or, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.

Собрались цари и вместе пошли войной,

5 T hey saw it, then were they amazed; They were dismayed, they hasted away.

но увидев Сион, поразились; ужаснулись и обратились в бегство.

6 T rembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail.

Объяла их дрожь, муки, как женщину в родах.

7 W ith the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

Ты сокрушил их, как ветер с востока разбивает таршишские корабли.

8 A s we have heard, so have we seen In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah

Что мы слышали, то и увидели в городе Господа Сил, в городе нашего Бога: Бог хранит его нерушимым навеки. Пауза

9 W e have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of thy temple.

В храме Твоем, Боже, мы размышляли о Твоей милости.

10 A s is thy name, O God, So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

Как Имя Твое, Боже, так и хвала Тебе достигает краев земли. Правая рука Твоя праведности полна.

11 L et mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of thy judgments.

Торжествует гора Сион, и ликуют поселения Иудеи о Твоем правосудии.

12 W alk about Zion, and go round about her; Number the towers thereof;

Пройдите вокруг Сиона, обойдите его, башни его сосчитайте;

13 M ark ye well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces: That ye may tell it to the generation following.

обратите мысли к его укреплениям, рассмотрите дворцы его, чтобы поколению грядущему рассказать.

14 F or this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death.

Ведь Бог – навеки наш Бог, Он будет нашим вождем на века.
