1 N ow there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite:

Был некий человек из Раматаима, цуфит из нагорий Ефрема, которого звали Элкана. Он был сыном Иерохама, сына Елигу, сына Тоху, сына Цуфа, ефремит.

2 a nd he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

У Элканы было две жены. Одну звали Анна, а другую − Фенанна. У Фенанны были дети, у Анны же их не было.

3 A nd this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice unto Jehovah of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests unto Jehovah, were there.

Из года в год этот человек ходил из своего города в Шило, чтобы поклоняться и приносить жертву Господу Сил. Хофни и Пинехас, два сына Илия, были там священниками Господа.

4 A nd when the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

Всякий раз, когда Элкана приносил жертву, он давал часть мяса жертвы своей жене Фенанне и всем ее сыновьям и дочерям.

5 b ut unto Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but Jehovah had shut up her womb.

Но Анне он давал двойную часть, потому что любил ее, хотя Господь закрыл ее чрево.

6 A nd her rival provoked her sore, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb.

Оттого, что Господь закрыл чрево Анны, ее соперница жестоко изводила и унижала ее.

7 A nd as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of Jehovah, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

Так продолжалось из года в год. Всякий раз, когда Анна ходила в дом Господа, соперница изводила ее, и та плакала и не ела.

8 A nd Elkanah her husband said unto her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

Элкана говорил ей: − Анна, почему ты плачешь? Почему не ешь? Почему скорбит твое сердце? Разве я не значу для тебя больше, чем десять сыновей? Молитва Анны и рождение Самуила

9 S o Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest was sitting upon his seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah.

Однажды, когда они поели и попили в Шило, Анна встала. Священник Илий сидел у дверей храма Господа.

10 A nd she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto Jehovah, and wept sore.

Скорбя душой, Анна горько плакала и молилась Господу.

11 A nd she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then I will give him unto Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Она дала обет, говоря: − О Господь Сил, если Ты только посмотришь на горе Своей служанки и вспомнишь меня, если не забудешь Свою служанку, но дашь ей сына, то я отдам его Господу на всю жизнь, и бритва никогда не коснется его головы.

12 A nd it came to pass, as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth.

Пока она молилась Господу, Илий следил за ее губами.

13 N ow Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

Анна молилась в сердце, ее губы двигались, но голоса слышно не было. Илий подумал, что она пьяна,

14 A nd Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

и сказал ей: − Долго ли ты еще будешь пьяной? Протрезвись от вина!

15 A nd Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Jehovah.

− Нет, мой господин, − ответила Анна, − я глубоко скорблю. Я не пила ни вина, ни пива. Я изливала душу перед Господом.

16 C ount not thy handmaid for a wicked woman; for out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation have I spoken hitherto.

Не думай, что твоя служанка − нечестивая женщина; я молилась здесь из-за великой боли и печали.

17 T hen Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

Илий ответил: − Иди с миром, и пусть Бог Израиля даст тебе то, о чем ты Его просила.

18 A nd she said, Let thy handmaid find favor in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat; and her countenance was no more sad.

Она сказала: − Пусть твоя служанка найдет расположение в твоих глазах. Затем она пошла своей дорогой, поела, и лицо ее уже больше не было печально.

19 A nd they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her.

На следующее утро они встали рано, поклонились Господу и пустились в обратный путь к себе домой, в Раму. Элкана лег со своей женой Анной, и Господь вспомнил про нее.

20 A nd it came to pass, when the time was come about, that Hannah conceived, and bare a son; and she called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of Jehovah.

Через некоторое время Анна зачала и родила сына. Она назвала его Самуил, говоря: «Я назвала его так, потому что я просила его у Господа». Анна посвящает Самуила Господу

21 A nd the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto Jehovah the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

В следующий раз, когда Элкана вместе со всей своей семьей отправился принести жертву Господу и исполнить обет,

22 B ut Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned; and then I will bring him, that he may appear before Jehovah, and there abide for ever.

Анна не пошла. Она сказала мужу: − После того как ребенок будет отнят от груди, я отведу его в Шило, чтобы он предстал перед Господом. Он останется там жить навсегда.

23 A nd Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only Jehovah establish his word. So the woman tarried and gave her son suck, until she weaned him.

− Поступай, как тебе угодно, − сказал ей муж. − Оставайся здесь, пока не отнимешь его от груди. И пусть Господь утвердит Свое слово. Она оставалась дома и кормила своего сына до тех пор, пока не отняла его от груди.

24 A nd when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of meal, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of Jehovah in Shiloh: and the child was young.

После того как он был отнят от груди, она повела мальчика в Шило. Анна взяла с собой трехлетнего быка, ефу муки и мех вина.

25 A nd they slew the bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

Заколов быка и взяв его, Анна с мальчиком пришли к Илию,

26 A nd she said, Oh, my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto Jehovah.

и она сказала ему: − Верно, как и то, что ты жив, мой господин, я – та самая женщина, которая стояла здесь, рядом с тобой, молясь Господу.

27 F or this child I prayed; and Jehovah hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

Я молилась об этом ребенке, и Господь дал мне то, о чем я Его просила.

28 t herefore also I have granted him to Jehovah; as long as he liveth he is granted to Jehovah. And he worshipped Jehovah there.

Теперь я отдаю его Господу. Пусть он принадлежит Господу всю его жизнь. И он поклонился там Господу.
