1 A nd it came to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.

После того как Ровоам утвердил свою власть и стал силен, он вместе со всем Израилем оставил Закон Господа.

2 A nd it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Jehovah,

Они нарушили верность Господу, и вот, на пятом году правления Ровоама, Шишак, царь Египта, напал на Иерусалим.

3 w ith twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen. And the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.

С тысячью и двумя сотнями колесниц, шестьюдесятью тысячами всадников и бесчисленным множеством пеших воинов из ливийцев, сукхитов и кушитов, которые пришли с ним из Египта,

4 A nd he took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came unto Jerusalem.

он завладел всеми укрепленными городами Иудеи и подошел к самому Иерусалиму.

5 N ow Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, Ye have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

Пророк Шемая пришел к Ровоаму и к вождям Иудеи, которые собрались в Иерусалиме из-за страха перед Шишаком, и сказал им: – Так говорит Господь: «Вы оставили Меня, и Я оставлю вас, и отдам в руки Шишаку».

6 T hen the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, Jehovah is righteous.

Вожди Израиля и царь смирились и сказали: – Господь праведен.

7 A nd when Jehovah saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

Когда Господь увидел, что они смирились, тогда к Шемае было Господне слово: – Так как они смирились, Я не истреблю их и вскоре спасу. Мой гнев не изольется на Иерусалим через Шишака.

8 N evertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

Но им придется покориться ему, чтобы они познали разницу между служением Мне и служением царям чужих земель.

9 S o Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house: he took all away: he took away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

Когда Шишак, царь Египта, пришел в Иерусалим, он унес сокровища дома Господа и сокровища царского дворца. Он забрал все, включая и золотые щиты, которые сделал Соломон.

10 A nd king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, that kept the door of the king's house.

Царь Ровоам сделал бронзовые щиты, чтобы заменить их, и вверил их начальникам стражи, что охраняла вход в царский дворец.

11 A nd it was so, that, as oft as the king entered into the house of Jehovah, the guard came and bare them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.

Всякий раз, когда царь шел в Господний дом, стража со щитами шла с ним, а после этого возвращала их в комнату стражи.

12 A nd when he humbled himself, the wrath of Jehovah turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things found.

Так как Ровоам смирил себя, гнев Господа на него прекратился и не погубил его окончательно. Да и в Иудее было что-то доброе. Конец правления Ровоама (3 Цар. 14: 21-24, 29-31)

13 S o king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

Царь Ровоам утвердился в Иерусалиме и царствовал. Когда он стал царем, ему был сорок один год, и он правил семнадцать лет в Иерусалиме, городе, который Господь избрал среди всех родов Израиля, чтобы там пребывало Его Имя. Его мать звали Наама; она была аммонитянкой.

14 A nd he did that which was evil, because he set not his heart to seek Jehovah.

Он творил зло, потому что не отдал своего сердца тому, чтобы искать Господа.

15 N ow the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Что же до событий правления Ровоама, от первых до последних, то разве не описаны они в записях пророка Шемаи и провидца Иддо, вошедших в родословия? Между Ровоамом и Иеровоамом все время шла война.

16 A nd Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

Ровоам упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен в Городе Давида. Авия, его сын, стал царем вместо него.
