1 F orasmuch as many have taken in hand to draw up a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,

2 e ven as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning wer eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,

на основе сведений, переданных нам людьми, которые с самого начала были очевидцами и служителями Cлова,

3 i t seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus;

то и я решил, тщательно исследовав все от начала, описать тебе, достопочтеннейший Феофил, все по порядку,

4 t hat thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things wherein thou wast instructed.

чтобы ты мог убедиться в достоверности того, чему был научен. Ангел предвозвещает Захарии рождение Иоанна

5 T here was in the days of Herod, king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abijah: and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

Во время правления Ирода, царя Иудеи, был священник по имени Захария, из смены Авия. Его жена тоже была потомком Аарона, ее звали Елисавета.

6 A nd they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Оба они были праведны перед Богом, живя непорочно и строго соблюдая все заповеди и установления Господа.

7 A nd they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

Но у них не было детей, потому что Елисавета была бесплодна. Они оба были уже в преклонном возрасте.

8 N ow it came to pass, while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

Однажды, когда была очередь служить смене, к которой принадлежал Захария, он нес службу перед Богом.

9 a ccording to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

В соответствии с установленным для священников порядком ему выпало по жребию войти в храм Господа и возжигать благовония.

10 A nd the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense.

Во время возжигания благовоний множество народа молилось снаружи.

11 A nd there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of altar of incense.

Захарии же явился ангел Господа. Он стоял справа от жертвенника, где возжигались благовония.

12 A nd Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.

Когда Захария увидел его, он был чрезвычайно поражен и испуган.

13 B ut the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Ангел сказал ему: – Не бойся, Захария, твоя молитва услышана. Твоя жена Елисавета родит тебе сына, и ты назовешь его Иоанном.

14 A nd thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

Твое сердце наполнится счастьем и ликованием, и многие будут радоваться его рождению,

15 F or he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

потому что он будет великим перед Господом. Он никогда не будет пить вина и других хмельных напитков. От самого рождения он будет исполнен Святым Духом.

16 A nd many of the children of Israel shall be turn unto the Lord their God.

Многих израильтян он обратит к Господу, их Богу.

17 A nd he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to walk in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.

Он будет предшествовать Ему в духе и силе Илии, чтобы обратить сердца отцов к детям, а непокорных – к мудрости праведных, приготовляя народ к приходу Господа.

18 A nd Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

Захария спросил ангела: – Как мне узнать, что это сбудется? Ведь я уже стар, и жена моя в преклонных годах.

19 A nd the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.

Ангел ответил: – Я – Гавриил, стоящий перед Богом, и я послан, чтобы сообщить тебе эту радостную весть.

20 A nd behold, thou shalt be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

Но сейчас за то, что ты не поверил моим словам, которые обязательно исполнятся в свое время, ты онемеешь и не будешь говорить до того дня, пока это не сбудется.

21 A nd the people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marvelled while he tarried in the temple.

Между тем люди ждали Захарию и удивлялись, почему он так долго не выходит из храма.

22 A nd when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: and he continued making signs unto them, and remained dumb.

Когда Захария вышел, он не мог говорить и вынужден был общаться с ними жестами. Все поняли, что в храме ему было видение.

23 A nd it came to pass, when the days of his ministration were fulfilled, he departed unto his house.

Когда срок его служения закончился, Захария возвратился домой.

24 A nd after these days Elisabeth his wife conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,

Вскоре его жена Елисавета забеременела и пять месяцев не выходила из дома.

25 T hus hath the Lord done unto me in the days wherein he looked upon me, to take away my reproach among men.

Она говорила: – Вот что сделал для меня Господь, по милости Своей сняв с меня позор перед людьми! Предсказание о рождении Иисуса

26 N ow in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

Когда Елисавета была на шестом месяце беременности, Бог послал ангела Гавриила в галилейский город Назарет,

27 t o a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

к деве по имени Мария. Мария была обручена с Иосифом, потомком Давида.

28 A nd he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee.

Ангел пришел к ней и сказал: – Приветствую тебя, получившая милость! С тобой Господь!

29 B ut she was greatly troubled at the saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be.

Марию эти слова очень удивили, и она размышляла, что бы значило такое приветствие.

30 A nd the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.

Ангел продолжал: – Не бойся, Мария, потому что Бог проявил к тебе милость!

31 A nd behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Ты забеременеешь и родишь Сына, и назовешь Его Иисусом.

32 H e shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Он станет великим, и Его будут называть Сыном Всевышнего. Господь Бог даст Ему престол Его предка Давида,

33 a nd he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

и Он будет царствовать над домом Иакова вовеки, и Его Царству не будет конца.

34 A nd Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

– Как это может быть? – спросила Мария. – Ведь я еще не была с мужчиной.

35 A nd the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.

Ангел ответил: – Святой Дух сойдет на тебя, и тебя осенит сила Всевышнего. Поэтому Ребенок, Который родится у тебя, будет свят – Он будет зваться Сыном Бога.

36 A nd behold, Elisabeth thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren.

Вот и твоя родственница Елисавета тоже родит сына в ее преклонные годы. О ней говорили, что она бесплодна, но она уже на шестом месяце беременности.

37 F or no word from God shall be void of power.

Для Бога нет ничего невозможного.

38 A nd Mary said, Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

– Я служанка Господа, – ответила Мария, – пусть все произойдет со мной так, как ты сказал. И ангел оставил ее. Мария навещает Елисавету

39 A nd Mary arose in these days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah;

Вскоре после этого Мария собралась и поспешила в город, расположенный в нагорьях Иудеи.

40 a nd entered into the house of Zacharias and saluted Elisabeth.

Она вошла в дом Захарии и поприветствовала Елисавету.

41 A nd it came to pass, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit;

Когда Елисавета услышала приветствие Марии, ребенок внутри у нее встрепенулся; Елисавету наполнил Святой Дух,

42 a nd she lifted up her voice with a loud cry, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

и она громким голосом воскликнула: – Благословенна ты среди женщин, и благословен Ребенок, Которого ты носишь!

43 A nd whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come unto me?

Чем я заслужила такую милость, что ко мне пришла мать моего Господа?

44 F or behold, when the voice of thy salutation came into mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Как только я услышала твое приветствие, ребенок во мне так и встрепенулся от радости.

45 A nd blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a fulfilment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.

Блаженна поверившая в исполнение того, что сказал Господь!

46 A nd Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

Мария ответила: – Душа моя славит Господа,

47 A nd my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

и дух мой радуется о Боге, Спасителе моем,

48 F or he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid: For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

потому что Он увидел смирение Своей служанки. Отныне все поколения будут называть меня благословенной,

49 F or he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.

потому что Всемогущий совершил такое великое дело для меня! Его Имя свято!

50 A nd his mercy is unto generations and generations On them that fear him.

Из поколения в поколение Он проявляет милость к боящимся Его!

51 H e hath showed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.

Его рукой совершены великие дела: Он рассеял гордых, в надмении сердца их,

52 H e hath put down princes from their thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.

сверг правителей с их престолов и возвысил смиренных!

53 T he hungry he hath filled with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away.

Он насытил благами голодных, а богатых отослал ни с чем.

54 H e hath given help to Israel his servant, That he might remember mercy

Он помог Своему слуге Израилю, помня Свое обещание нашим предкам

55 ( As he spake unto our fathers) Toward Abraham and his seed for ever.

быть милосердным к Аврааму и его семени вовеки.

56 A nd Mary abode with her about three months, and returned unto her house.

Мария погостила у Елисаветы около трех месяцев и затем возвратилась домой. Рождение, наречение имени и обрезание Иоанна Крестителя

57 N ow Elisabeth's time was fulfilled that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

Когда подошло время, Елисавета родила сына.

58 A nd her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her; and they rejoiced with her.

Ее соседи и родственники услышали о том, что Бог явил ей великую милость, и радовались вместе с ней.

59 A nd it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of the father.

На восьмой день они пришли, чтобы совершить над ребенком обряд обрезания, и хотели назвать его в честь отца Захарией.

60 A nd his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

Но мать ребенка возразила: – Нет! Его будут звать Иоанном.

61 A nd they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

Ей стали говорить: – Но ведь среди ваших родственников нет никого с таким именем!

62 A nd they made signs to his father, what he would have him called.

Они стали жестами спрашивать отца, как бы он хотел назвать сына.

63 A nd he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

Захария попросил табличку для письма и, к удивлению всех, написал: «Его имя Иоанн».

64 A nd his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, blessing God.

В тот же миг к нему вернулась речь, и он начал говорить, прославляя Бога.

65 A nd fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

Всех соседей объял страх, и весть о случившемся разнеслась по всем нагорьям Иудеи.

66 A nd all that heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, What then shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.

Все, кто слышал об этом, с удивлением спрашивали: – Кем же станет этот ребенок? – потому что рука Господа была с ним. Пророческое слово Захарии

67 A nd his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

Святой Дух наполнил Захарию, отца Иоанна, и он начал пророчествовать:

68 B lessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; For he hath visited and wrought redemption for his people,

– Благословен Господь, Бог Израиля, Который посетил Свой народ и искупил его!

69 A nd hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David

Он воздвиг нам рог спасения из дома Своего слуги Давида,

70 ( As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old),

как Он издавна обещал через Своих святых пророков,

71 S alvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

что Он спасет нас от врагов и от рук тех, кто ненавидит нас.

72 T o show mercy towards, our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant;

Так Он проявил милость к нашим предкам, помня Свой святой завет,

73 T he oath which he spake unto Abraham our father,

клятву, которой Он поклялся нашему предку Аврааму:

74 T o grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,

избавить нас от рук наших врагов, чтобы мы могли без страха служить Ему,

75 I n holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

живя перед Ним в святости и праведности во все дни нашей жизни!

76 Y ea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;

И ты, дитя, будешь назван пророком Всевышнего, потому что будешь идти перед Господом, чтобы приготовить Ему пути,

77 T o give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,

возвестить Его народу спасение через прощение грехов,

78 B ecause of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high shall visit us,

по глубочайшему милосердию нашего Бога, Который пошлет нам Утреннюю Зарю с небес,

79 T o shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace.

чтобы дать свет живущим во тьме и тени смертной и направить наши стопы на путь мира!

80 A nd the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.

Ребенок рос и укреплялся в духе. Он жил в пустыне до того времени, когда открыто явился Израилю.
