1 F inally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk, --that ye abound more and more.

Por lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesús que, de la manera que aprendisteis de nosotros cómo os conviene conduciros y agradar a Dios, así abundéis más y más.

2 F or ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

Ya sabéis las instrucciones que os dimos por el Señor Jesús.

3 F or this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;

La voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación: que os apartéis de fornicación;

4 t hat each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

que cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su propia esposa en santidad y honor,

5 n ot in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;

no en pasión desordenada, como los gentiles que no conocen a Dios;

6 t hat no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

que ninguno agravie ni engañe en nada a su hermano, porque, como ya os hemos dicho y testificado, el Señor es vengador de todo esto.

7 F or God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

Dios no nos ha llamado a inmundicia, sino a santificación.

8 T herefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.

Así que, el que desecha esto, no desecha a hombre, sino a Dios, que también nos dio su Espíritu Santo.

9 B ut concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;

Acerca del amor fraternal no tenéis necesidad de que os escriba, porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis unos a otros;

10 f or indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;

y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Pero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis en ello más y más.

11 a nd that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;

Procurad tener tranquilidad, ocupándoos en vuestros negocios y trabajando con vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado,

12 t hat ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.

a fin de que os conduzcáis honradamente para con los de afuera y no tengáis necesidad de nada. La venida del Señor

13 B ut we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

Tampoco queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.

14 F or if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con Jesús a los que durmieron en él.

15 F or this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.

Por lo cual os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que durmieron.

16 F or the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;

El Señor mismo, con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo. Entonces, los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero.

17 t hen we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Luego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que hayamos quedado, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.

18 W herefore comfort one another with these words.

Por tanto, alentaos los unos a los otros con estas palabras.
