1 A nd Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should slay David. But Jonathan, Saul's son, delighted much in David.

Habló Saúl a Jonatán, su hijo, y a todos sus siervos, para que mataran a David; pero Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, amaba mucho a David,

2 A nd Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to slay thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself in the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

y le avisó diciendo: —Mi padre Saúl procura matarte; por tanto, cuídate hasta la mañana, estáte en lugar oculto y escóndete.

3 a nd I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and if I see aught, I will tell thee.

Yo saldré y estaré junto a mi padre en el campo donde tú estés; hablaré de ti a mi padre y te haré saber lo que haya.

4 A nd Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

Jonatán habló bien de David a su padre Saúl, y le dijo: —No peque el rey contra su siervo David, porque ningún pecado ha cometido contra ti y, al contrario, sus obras han sido muy beneficiosas para ti,

5 f or he put his life in his hand, and smote the Philistine, and Jehovah wrought a great victory for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice; wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

pues él puso su vida en peligro para matar al filisteo, y Jehová le dio una gran victoria a todo Israel. Tú lo viste y te alegraste. ¿Por qué, pues, vas a pecar contra sangre inocente, matando a David sin causa?

6 A nd Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As Jehovah liveth, he shall not be put to death.

Escuchó Saúl las palabras de Jonatán y juró: —¡Vive Jehová!, no morirá.

7 A nd Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as beforetime.

Llamó entonces Jonatán a David y le contó todas estas palabras; él mismo llevó a David ante Saúl, y se quedó a su servicio como antes.

8 A nd there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.

Después hubo de nuevo guerra; salió David y peleó contra los filisteos, les causó un gran estrago y huyeron ante él.

9 A nd an evil spirit from Jehovah was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.

Pero el espíritu malo de parte de Jehová se apoderó de Saúl; y estando sentado en su casa con una lanza en la mano, mientras David tocaba,

10 A nd Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the spear into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

Saúl procuró clavar a David con su lanza en la pared, pero él se apartó de delante de Saúl, y la lanza se clavó en la pared. David huyó y se puso a salvo aquella noche.

11 A nd Saul sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to-night, to-morrow thou wilt be slain.

Saúl envió luego mensajeros a casa de David para que lo vigilaran y lo mataran por la mañana. Pero Mical, su mujer, le avisó a David: «Si no salvas tu vida esta noche, mañana estarás muerto.»

12 S o Michal let David down through the window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

Descolgó Mical a David por una ventana. Él se fue y huyó poniéndose a salvo.

13 A nd Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair at the head thereof, and covered it with the clothes.

Tomó luego Mical una estatua y la puso sobre la cama, le acomodó por cabecera una almohada de pelo de cabra y la cubrió con la ropa.

14 A nd when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

Cuando Saúl envió mensajeros para capturar a David, ella dijo: «Está enfermo.»

15 A nd Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

Volvió Saúl a enviar mensajeros en busca de David, y les dijo: «Traédmelo en la cama para que lo mate.»

16 A nd when the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats' hair at the head thereof.

Cuando los mensajeros entraron, encontraron la estatua en la cama, y una almohada de pelo de cabra a su cabecera.

17 A nd Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me thus, and let mine enemy go, so that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

Entonces Saúl dijo a Mical: —¿Por qué me has engañado así y has dejado escapar a mi enemigo? Mical respondió a Saúl: —Porque él me dijo: “Déjame ir; si no, yo te mataré.”

18 N ow David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

Huyó, pues, David, y se puso a salvo. Se fue adonde estaba Samuel en Ramá, y le contó todo lo que Saúl había hecho con él. Después, él y Samuel se fueron a habitar en Naiot.

19 A nd it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.

Y avisaron a Saúl, diciéndole: «Mira, David está en Naiot de Ramá.»

20 A nd Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

Entonces Saúl envió mensajeros para que trajeran a David, los cuales vieron una compañía de profetas que profetizaban, y a Samuel que estaba allí y los presidía. Vino el espíritu de Dios sobre los mensajeros de Saúl y ellos también profetizaron.

21 A nd when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.

Cuando lo supo Saúl, envió otros mensajeros, los cuales también profetizaron. Saúl volvió a enviar mensajeros por tercera vez, y ellos también profetizaron.

22 T hen went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.

Entonces él mismo fue a Ramá, y al llegar al gran pozo que está en Secú, preguntó diciendo: —¿Dónde están Samuel y David? Uno le respondió: —Están en Naiot, en Ramá.

23 A nd he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God came upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

Salió para Naiot, en Ramá, pero también se apoderó de él el espíritu de Dios, y siguió andando y profetizando hasta que llegó a Naiot, en Ramá.

24 A nd he also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

También él se despojó de sus vestidos y profetizó igualmente delante de Samuel. Estuvo desnudo todo aquel día y toda aquella noche. De aquí el dicho: «¿También Saúl entre los profetas?»
