1 H ear ye now what Jehovah saith: Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

«Oíd ahora lo que dice Jehová: ¡Levántate, pelea contra los montes y oigan los collados tu voz!

2 H ear, O ye mountains, Jehovah's controversy, and ye enduring foundations of the earth; for Jehovah hath a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.

Oíd, montes y fuertes cimientos de la tierra, el pleito de Jehová, porque Jehová tiene un pleito con su pueblo y altercará con Israel.

3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

»Pueblo mío, ¿qué te he hecho o en qué te he molestado? Di algo en mi contra.

4 F or I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Te hice subir de la tierra de Egipto, te redimí de la casa de servidumbre y envié delante de ti a Moisés, a Aarón y a María.

5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; remember from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.

Pueblo mío, acuérdate ahora qué aconsejó Balac, rey de Moab, y qué le respondió Balaam hijo de Beor, desde Sitim hasta Gilgal, para que conozcas las justicias de Jehová.

6 W herewith shall I come before Jehovah, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves a year old?

»¿Con qué me presentaré ante Jehová y adoraré al Dios Altísimo? ¿Me presentaré ante él con holocaustos, con becerros de un año?

7 w ill Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

¿Se agradará Jehová de millares de carneros o de diez mil arroyos de aceite? ¿Daré mi primogénito por mi rebelión, el fruto de mis entrañas por el pecado de mi alma?

8 H e hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Hombre, él te ha declarado lo que es bueno, lo que pide Jehová de ti: solamente hacer justicia, amar misericordia y humillarte ante tu Dios.

9 T he voice of Jehovah crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom will see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

»La voz de Jehová clama a la ciudad. ¡Es de sabios temer a tu nombre! “Prestad atención al castigo y a quien lo establece.

10 A re there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a scant measure that is abominable?

¿Hay aún en casa del impío tesoros de impiedad y medida escasa que sea detestable?

11 S hall I be pure with wicked balances, and with a bag of deceitful weights?

¿Daré por inocente al que tiene balanza falsa y bolsa de pesas engañosas?

12 F or the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Sus ricos se colmaron de rapiña, sus moradores hablaron mentira y tienen en su boca una lengua engañosa.

13 T herefore I also have smitten thee with a grievous wound; I have made thee desolate because of thy sins.

Por eso yo también te debilité, devastándote por tus pecados.

14 T hou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy humiliation shall be in the midst of thee: and thou shalt put away, but shalt not save; and that which thou savest will I give up to the sword.

Comerás, mas no te saciarás, tu abatimiento estará en medio de ti; recogerás, mas no salvarás nada, y lo que logres salvar lo entregaré yo a la espada.

15 T hou shalt sow, but shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but shalt not anoint thee with oil; and the vintage, but shalt not drink the wine.

Sembrarás, mas no segarás; pisarás aceitunas, mas no te ungirás con el aceite; también uvas, mas no beberás el vino.

16 F or the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I may make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing: and ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Has guardado los mandamientos de Omri y toda obra de la casa de Acab, y en los consejos de ellos has andado; por eso yo te entregaré a la desolación, y a tus moradores a la burla. Llevaréis, por tanto, el oprobio de mi pueblo.”»
