1 H e that dasheth in pieces is come up against thee: keep the fortress, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.

»¡Un destructor avanza contra ti! ¡Monta guardia en la fortaleza! ¡Vigila el camino! ¡Cíñete la cintura! ¡Reúne todas tus fuerzas!

2 F or Jehovah restoreth the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel; for the emptiers have emptied them out, and destroyed their vine-branches.

Porque Jehová restaurará la gloria de Jacob, así como la gloria de Israel, porque saqueadores los saquearon y estropearon sus sarmientos.

3 T he shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the cypress spears are brandished.

El escudo de sus valientes está enrojecido, los hombres de su ejército visten de grana, el carro flamea como fuego de antorchas; el día que se prepare, temblarán los cipreses.

4 T he chariots rage in the streets; they rush to and fro in the broad ways: the appearance of them is like torches; they run like the lightnings.

Los carros se precipitan a las plazas, con estruendo ruedan por las calles; su aspecto es como de antorchas encendidas, corren como relámpagos.

5 H e remembereth his nobles: they stumble in their march; they make haste to the wall thereof, and the mantelet is prepared.

Se convoca a los valientes, se atropellan en su marcha, se apresuran hacia el muro donde se prepara la defensa.

6 T he gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved.

Las puertas de los ríos se abren y el palacio es destruido.

7 A nd it is decreed: she is uncovered, she is carried away; and her handmaids moan as with the voice of doves, beating upon their breasts.

Llevan cautiva a la reina, le ordenan que suba, y sus criadas la llevan gimiendo como palomas, golpeándose sus pechos.

8 B ut Nineveh hath been from of old like a pool of water: yet they flee away. Stand, stand, they cry; but none looketh back.

Nínive es como un estanque cuyas aguas se escapan. Gritan: “¡Deteneos, deteneos!”, pero ninguno mira.

9 T ake ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold; for there is no end of the store, the glory of all goodly furniture.

¡Saquead plata, saquead oro! ¡Hay riquezas sin fin, y toda clase de objetos suntuosos y codiciables!

10 S he is empty, and void, and waste; and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and anguish is in all loins, and the faces of them all are waxed pale.

»Vacía, agotada y desolada está, su corazón desfallece, le tiemblan las rodillas, tiene dolor en las entrañas; los rostros están demudados.

11 W here is the den of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?

¿Qué queda de la cueva de los leones y de la guarida de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogían el león y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien los espantara?

12 T he lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with prey, and his dens with ravin.

El león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y despedazaba para sus leonas, llenaba de presas sus cavernas, y de robo sus guaridas.»

13 B ehold, I am against thee, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions; and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.

«¡Aquí estoy contra ti!, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Quemaré y reduciré a humo tus carros, y la espada devorará tus leoncillos; acabaré con el robo en tu tierra y nunca más se oirá la voz de tus mensajeros.
