1 I n that hour came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

En aquel tiempo los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y le preguntaron: —¿Quién es el mayor en el reino de los cielos?

2 A nd he called to him a little child, and set him in the midst of them,

Llamando Jesús a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos

3 a nd said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

y dijo: —De cierto os digo que si no os volvéis y os hacéis como niños, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.

4 W hosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Así que cualquiera que se humille como este niño, ése es el mayor en el reino de los cielos.

5 A nd whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me:

Y cualquiera que reciba en mi nombre a un niño como éste, a mí me recibe. Ocasiones de caer

6 B ut whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

»A cualquiera que haga tropezar a alguno de estos pequeños que creen en mí, mejor le fuera que se le colgara al cuello una piedra de molino de asno y que se le hundiera en lo profundo del mar.

7 W oe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! for it must needs be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion cometh!

¡Ay del mundo por los tropiezos! Es necesario que vengan tropiezos, pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien viene el tropiezo!

8 A nd if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed or halt, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire.

Por tanto, si tu mano o tu pie te es ocasión de caer, córtalo y échalo de ti: mejor te es entrar en la vida cojo o manco, que teniendo dos manos o dos pies ser arrojado en el fuego eterno.

9 A nd if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.

Y si tu ojo te es ocasión de caer, sácalo y échalo de ti: mejor te es entrar con un solo ojo en la vida, que teniendo dos ojos ser echado en el infierno de fuego. Parábola de la oveja perdida

10 S ee that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

»Mirad que no menospreciéis a uno de estos pequeños, porque os digo que sus ángeles en los cielos ven siempre el rostro de mi Padre que está en los cielos,

11 F or the Son of man came to save that which was lost.

porque el Hijo del hombre ha venido para salvar lo que se había perdido.

12 H ow think ye? if any man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go unto the mountains, and seek that which goeth astray?

»¿Qué os parece? Si un hombre tiene cien ovejas y se descarría una de ellas, ¿no deja las noventa y nueve y va por los montes a buscar la que se ha descarriado?

13 A nd if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth over it more than over the ninety and nine which have not gone astray.

Y si acontece que la encuentra, de cierto os digo que se regocija más por aquélla que por las noventa y nueve que no se descarriaron.

14 E ven so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

De igual modo, no es la voluntad de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos que se pierda uno de estos pequeños. Cómo se debe perdonar

15 A nd if thy brother sin against thee, go, show him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

»Por tanto, si tu hermano peca contra ti, ve y repréndelo estando tú y él solos; si te oye, has ganado a tu hermano.

16 B ut if he hear thee not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established.

Pero si no te oye, toma aún contigo a uno o dos, para que en boca de dos o tres testigos conste toda palabra.

17 A nd if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican.

Si no los oye a ellos, dilo a la iglesia; y si no oye a la iglesia, tenlo por gentil y publicano.

18 V erily I say unto you, what things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

De cierto os digo que todo lo que atéis en la tierra será atado en el cielo; y todo lo que desatéis en la tierra será desatado en el cielo.

19 A gain I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.

Otra vez os digo que si dos de vosotros se ponen de acuerdo en la tierra acerca de cualquier cosa que pidan, les será hecho por mi Padre que está en los cielos,

20 F or where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

porque donde están dos o tres congregados en mi nombre, allí estoy yo en medio de ellos.

21 T hen came Peter and said to him, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times?

Entonces se le acercó Pedro y le dijo: —Señor, ¿cuántas veces perdonaré a mi hermano que peque contra mí? ¿Hasta siete?

22 J esus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.

Jesús le dijo: —No te digo hasta siete, sino aun hasta setenta veces siete. Parábola del siervo que no quiso perdonar

23 T herefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, who would make a reckoning with his servants.

»Por lo cual el reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que quiso hacer cuentas con sus siervos.

24 A nd when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, that owed him ten thousand talents.

Cuando comenzó a hacer cuentas, le fue presentado uno que le debía diez mil talentos.

25 B ut forasmuch as he had not wherewith to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

A éste, como no pudo pagar, ordenó su señor venderlo, junto con su mujer e hijos y todo lo que tenía, para que se le pagara la deuda.

26 T he servant therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

Entonces aquel siervo, postrado, le suplicaba diciendo: “Señor, ten paciencia conmigo y yo te lo pagaré todo.”

27 A nd the lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.

El señor de aquel siervo, movido a misericordia, lo soltó y le perdonó la deuda.

28 B ut that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred shillings: and he laid hold on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay what thou owest.

»Pero saliendo aquel siervo, halló a uno de sus consiervos que le debía cien denarios; y agarrándolo, lo ahogaba, diciendo: “Págame lo que me debes.”

29 S o his fellow-servant fell down and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee.

Entonces su consiervo, postrándose a sus pies, le rogaba diciendo: “Ten paciencia conmigo y yo te lo pagaré todo.”

30 A nd he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay that which was due.

Pero él no quiso, sino que fue y lo echó en la cárcel hasta que pagara la deuda.

31 S o when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were exceeding sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

Viendo sus consiervos lo que pasaba, se entristecieron mucho, y fueron y refirieron a su señor todo lo que había pasado.

32 T hen his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me:

Entonces, llamándolo su señor, le dijo: “Siervo malvado, toda aquella deuda te perdoné, porque me rogaste.

33 s houldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee?

¿No debías tú también tener misericordia de tu consiervo, como yo tuve misericordia de ti?”

34 A nd his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due.

Entonces su señor, enojado, lo entregó a los verdugos hasta que pagara todo lo que le debía.

35 S o shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.

Así también mi Padre celestial hará con vosotros, si no perdonáis de todo corazón cada uno a su hermano sus ofensas.
