1 A ll the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers.

»Cuidaréis de poner por obra todo mandamiento que yo os ordeno hoy, para que viváis, seáis multiplicados y entréis a poseer la tierra que Jehová prometió con juramento a vuestros padres.

2 A nd thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not.

Te acordarás de todo el camino por donde te ha traído Jehová, tu Dios, estos cuarenta años en el desierto, para afligirte, para probarte, para saber lo que había en tu corazón, si habías de guardar o no sus mandamientos.

3 A nd he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.

Te afligió, te hizo pasar hambre y te sustentó con maná, comida que ni tú ni tus padres habían conocido, para hacerte saber que no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de todo lo que sale de la boca de Jehová vivirá el hombre.

4 T hy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

El vestido que llevabas puesto nunca envejeció, ni el pie se te ha hinchado en estos cuarenta años.

5 A nd thou shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so Jehovah thy God chasteneth thee.

Reconoce asimismo en tu corazón, que, como castiga el hombre a su hijo, así Jehová, tu Dios, te castiga.

6 A nd thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

Guardarás, pues, los mandamientos de Jehová, tu Dios, andando en sus caminos y temiéndolo.

7 F or Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;

Porque Jehová, tu Dios, te introduce en la buena tierra, tierra de arroyos, de aguas, de fuentes y de manantiales, que brotan en vegas y montes;

8 a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey;

tierra de trigo y cebada, de vides, higueras y granados; tierra de olivos, de aceite y de miel;

9 a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig copper.

tierra en la cual no comerás el pan con escasez, y donde no te faltará nada; tierra cuyas piedras son de hierro y de cuyos montes sacarás cobre.

10 A nd thou shalt eat and be full, and thou shalt bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

Allí comerás y te saciarás, y bendecirás a Jehová, tu Dios, por la buena tierra que te habrá dado. Amonestación de no olvidar a Dios

11 B eware lest thou forget Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

»Cuídate de no olvidarte de Jehová, tu Dios, para cumplir los mandamientos, decretos y estatutos que yo te ordeno hoy;

12 l est, when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

no suceda que comas y te sacies, edifiques buenas casas y las habites,

13 a nd when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

cuando tus vacas y tus ovejas aumenten, la plata y el oro se te multipliquen y todo lo que tengas se acreciente,

14 t hen thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

se ensoberbezca tu corazón y te olvides de Jehová, tu Dios, que te sacó de tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre;

15 w ho led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

que te hizo caminar por un desierto grande y espantoso, lleno de serpientes venenosas y de escorpiones; que en una tierra de sed y sin agua te sacó agua de la roca del pedernal;

16 w ho fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end:

que te sustentó con maná en el desierto, comida que tus padres no habían conocido, afligiéndote y probándote, para a la postre hacerte bien,

17 a nd lest thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth.

y digas en tu corazón: “Mi poder y la fuerza de mi mano me han traído esta riqueza”;

18 B ut thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day.

sino acuérdate de Jehová, tu Dios, porque él es quien te da el poder para adquirir las riquezas, a fin de confirmar el pacto que juró a tus padres, como lo hace hoy.

19 A nd it shall be, if thou shalt forget Jehovah thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

»Pero si llegas a olvidarte de Jehová, tu Dios, y vas tras dioses ajenos, los sirves y ante ellos te inclinas, yo lo afirmo hoy contra vosotros, que de cierto pereceréis.

20 A s the nations that Jehovah maketh to perish before you, so shall ye perish; because ye would not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah your God.

Como las naciones que Jehová destruirá delante de vosotros, así pereceréis, por cuanto no habréis atendido a la voz de Jehová, vuestro Dios.
