1 C ome near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it.

Acercaos, naciones, juntaos para oír; y vosotros, pueblos, escuchad. Oiga la tierra y cuanto hay en ella, el mundo y todo lo que él produce.

2 F or Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Porque Jehová está airado contra todas las naciones, indignado contra todo el ejército de ellas; las destruirá y las entregará al matadero.

3 T heir slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

Los muertos de ellas serán arrojados, de sus cadáveres subirá el hedor y los montes se disolverán con la sangre de ellos.

4 A nd all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig-tree.

Todo el ejército de los cielos se disolverá, y se enrollarán los cielos como un libro; y caerá todo su ejército como se cae la hoja de la parra, como se cae la de la higuera.

5 F or my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Porque en los cielos se embriagará mi espada; descenderá sobre Edom para juicio, y sobre el pueblo de mi maldición.

6 T he sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

Llena está de sangre y de grasa la espada de Jehová: sangre de corderos y de machos cabríos, grasa de riñones de carneros, porque Jehová tiene sacrificios en Bosra y una gran matanza en tierra de Edom.

7 A nd the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls: and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

Con ellos caerán búfalos, toros y becerros. Su tierra se embriagará de sangre y su polvo se llenará de grasa.

8 F or Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Porque es día de venganza de Jehová, año de retribuciones en el pleito de Sión.

9 A nd the streams of Edom shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

Sus arroyos se convertirán en brea, su polvo en azufre y su tierra en brea ardiente.

10 I t shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

No se apagará de noche ni de día, sino que por siempre subirá su humo; de generación en generación quedará desolada y nunca jamás pasará nadie por ella.

11 B ut the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.

Se adueñarán de ella el pelícano y el erizo; la lechuza y el cuervo morarán en ella, y se extenderá sobre ella cordel de destrucción y niveles de asolamiento.

12 T hey shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing.

Llamarán a sus príncipes «príncipes sin reino»; y todos sus grandes serán como nada.

13 A nd thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.

En sus alcázares crecerán espinos, y ortigas y cardos en sus fortalezas; y serán morada de chacales y patio para los pollos de los avestruces.

14 A nd the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.

Las fieras del desierto se encontrarán con las hienas, y la cabra salvaje llamará a su compañero; la lechuza también tendrá allí refugio y hallará para sí reposo.

15 T here shall the dart-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.

Allí anidará el búho, pondrá sus huevos, sacará sus pollos y los juntará debajo de sus alas; también se juntarán allí los buitres, con su pareja.

16 S eek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.

Consultad el libro de Jehová y leed si faltó alguno de ellos; ninguno faltó con su pareja. Porque su boca mandó y su mismo espíritu los reunió.

17 A nd he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

Y él les echó suertes y su mano les repartió a cordel. Para siempre la tendrán por heredad; de generación en generación morarán allí.
