1 T he burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

Profecía sobre Babilonia, revelada a Isaías hijo de Amoz.

2 S et ye up an ensign upon the bare mountain, lift up the voice unto them, wave the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

Levantad bandera sobre un alto monte. Alzad la voz a ellos, alzad la mano, para que entren por puertas de jefes.

3 I have commanded my consecrated ones, yea, I have called my mighty men for mine anger, even my proudly exulting ones.

Yo mandé a mis consagrados y asimismo llamé a los valientes de mi ira, a los que se alegran con mi gloria.

4 T he noise of a multitude in the mountains, as of a great people! the noise of a tumult of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Jehovah of hosts is mustering the host for the battle.

Estruendo de multitud en los montes, como de mucho pueblo; estruendo de ruido de reinos, de naciones reunidas: ¡Jehová de los ejércitos pasa revista a las tropas para la batalla!

5 T hey come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

Vienen de lejana tierra, del extremo de los cielos, Jehová y los instrumentos de su ira, para destruir toda la tierra.

6 W ail ye; for the day of Jehovah is at hand; as destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

¡Aullad, porque cerca está el día de Jehová! ¡Vendrá como devastación del Todopoderoso!

7 T herefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt:

Por tanto, toda mano se debilitará y desfallecerá todo corazón humano.

8 a nd they shall be dismayed; pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall look in amazement one at another; their faces shall be faces of flame.

Se llenarán de terror; angustias y dolores se apoderarán de ellos; tendrán dolores como de mujer de parto; se asombrará cada cual al mirar a su compañero; sus rostros son como llamaradas.

9 B ehold, the day of Jehovah cometh, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

He aquí el día de Jehová viene: día terrible, de indignación y ardor de ira, para convertir la tierra en soledad y raer de ella a sus pecadores.

10 F or the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine.

Por lo cual las estrellas de los cielos y sus luceros no darán su luz; el sol se oscurecerá al nacer y la luna no dará su resplandor.

11 A nd I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity: and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Castigaré al mundo por su maldad y a los impíos por su iniquidad; haré que cese la arrogancia de los soberbios y humillaré la altivez de los tiranos.

12 I will make a man more rare than fine gold, even a man than the pure gold of Ophir.

Haré más precioso que el oro fino al varón y más que el oro de Ofir al ser humano.

13 T herefore I will make the heavens to tremble, and the earth shall be shaken out of its place, in the wrath of Jehovah of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

Porque haré estremecer los cielos y la tierra se moverá de su lugar por la indignación de Jehová de los ejércitos, en el día del ardor de su ira.

14 A nd it shall come to pass, that as the chased roe, and as sheep that no man gathereth, they shall turn every man to his own people, and shall flee every man to his own land.

Como gacela perseguida, como oveja sin pastor, cada cual mirará hacia su pueblo, cada uno huirá a su tierra.

15 E very one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is taken shall fall by the sword.

Cualquiera que sea hallado será atravesado, y cualquiera que por ellos sea tomado caerá a espada.

16 T heir infants also shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be rifled, and their wives ravished.

Sus niños serán estrellados ante ellos mismos; sus casas serán saqueadas y violadas sus mujeres.

17 B ehold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

He aquí que yo despierto contra ellos a los medos, que no se ocuparán de la plata ni codiciarán oro.

18 A nd their bows shall dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

Con sus arcos derribarán a los jóvenes; no tendrán compasión del fruto del vientre ni su ojo perdonará a los hijos.

19 A nd Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

Y Babilonia, hermosura de reinos, gloria y orgullo de los caldeos, será como Sodoma y Gomorra, a las que trastornó Dios.

20 I t shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall shepherds make their flocks to lie down there.

Nunca más será habitada, ni se morará en ella de generación en generación; no levantará allí su tienda el árabe ni los pastores tendrán allí su majada,

21 B ut wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there.

sino que dormirán allí las fieras del desierto y sus casas se llenarán de hurones; allí habitarán los avestruces y allí saltarán las cabras salvajes.

22 A nd wolves shall cry in their castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

En sus palacios aullarán las hienas y los chacales en sus casas de deleite. Su tiempo está a punto de llegar; no se prolongarán sus días.
