1 L et as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed.

Todos los que están bajo el yugo de esclavitud, tengan a sus amos por dignos de todo honor, para que no sea blasfemado el nombre de Dios y la doctrina.

2 A nd they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort.

Y los que tienen amos creyentes no los tengan en menos por ser hermanos, sino sírvanlos mejor, por cuanto son creyentes y amados los que se benefician de su buen servicio. Esto enseña y exhorta. Piedad y contentamiento

3 I f any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

Si alguno enseña otra cosa y no se conforma a las sanas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad,

4 h e is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

está envanecido, nada sabe y delira acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, blasfemias, malas sospechas,

5 w ranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.

discusiones necias de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que toman la piedad como fuente de ganancia. Apártate de los tales.

6 B ut godliness with contentment is great gain:

Pero gran ganancia es la piedad acompañada de contentamiento,

7 f or we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out;

porque nada hemos traído a este mundo y, sin duda, nada podremos sacar.

8 b ut having food and covering we shall be therewith content.

Así que, teniendo sustento y abrigo, estemos ya satisfechos;

9 B ut they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.

pero los que quieren enriquecerse caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias necias y dañosas que hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición,

10 F or the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

porque raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero, el cual codiciando algunos, se extraviaron de la fe y fueron atormentados con muchos dolores. La buena batalla de la fe

11 B ut thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Pero tú, hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la paciencia, la mansedumbre.

12 F ight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, a la cual asimismo fuiste llamado, habiendo hecho la buena profesión delante de muchos testigos.

13 I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession;

Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y de Jesucristo, que dio testimonio de la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,

14 t hat thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

que guardes el mandamiento sin mancha ni reprensión, hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

15 w hich in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

Aparición que a su tiempo mostrará el bienaventurado y solo Soberano, Rey de reyes y Señor de señores,

16 w ho only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen.

el único que tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible y a quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver. A él sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén.

17 C harge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

A los ricos de este mundo manda que no sean altivos ni pongan la esperanza en las riquezas, las cuales son inciertas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia para que las disfrutemos.

18 t hat they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, dadivosos y generosos.

19 l aying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.

De este modo atesorarán para sí buen fundamento para el futuro, y alcanzarán la vida eterna. Encargo final de Pablo a Timoteo

20 O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;

Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, evitando las profanas pláticas sobre cosas vanas y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia,

21 w hich some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.

la cual profesando algunos, se desviaron de la fe. La gracia sea contigo. Amén.
