1 L et as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed.

¶ Todos los que están debajo del yugo de servidumbre, tengan a sus señores por dignos de toda honra, para que no sea blasfemado el Nombre del Señor y su doctrina.

2 A nd they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort.

Y los que tienen amos fieles, no los tengan en menos, por ser sus hermanos; antes sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son fieles y amados, y partícipes del beneficio. Esto enseña y exhorta.

3 I f any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

El que enseña otra cosa, y no se allega a las sanas palabras del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad;

4 h e is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

está envanecido, nada sabe, y enloquece acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, maledicencias, malas sospechas,

5 w ranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.

porfías de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que tienen la piedad por fuente de ganancia; apártate de los tales.

6 B ut godliness with contentment is great gain:

¶ Pero gran ganancia es la piedad con contentamiento.

7 f or we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out;

Porque nada hemos traído a este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar.

8 b ut having food and covering we shall be therewith content.

Así que, teniendo sustento y con qué cubrirnos, estemos contentos con esto.

9 B ut they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.

Porque los que quieren enriquecerse, caen en tentación y en lazo, y en muchas codicias locas y dañosas, que hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición.

10 F or the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Porque el amor al dinero es la raíz de todos los males; el cual codiciando algunos, se descaminaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores.

11 B ut thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, la caridad, la tolerancia, la mansedumbre.

12 F ight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, a la cual así mismo eres llamado, habiendo hecho buena profesión delante de muchos testigos.

13 I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession;

¶ Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y de Cristo Jesús, que testificó la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,

14 t hat thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

que guardes el mandamiento sin mácula ni reprensión, hasta que aparezca nuestro Señor Jesús el Cristo,

15 w hich in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

al cual a su tiempo mostrará el Bienaventurado y solo Poderoso, Rey de reyes, y Señor de señores;

16 w ho only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen.

el único que tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible; a quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver; al cual sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén.

17 C harge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

A los ricos de este siglo manda que no sean altivos, ni pongan la esperanza en las riquezas inciertas, sino en el Dios viviente, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia de que gocemos;

18 t hat they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

mas encomiéndales el bien hacer, el hacerse ricos en buenas obras, el dar con facilidad, el comunicar fácilmente;

19 l aying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.

el atesorar para sí buen fundamento para en lo por venir, que echen mano a la vida eterna.

20 O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;

Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, y apártate de las voces profanas de vanas cosas, y los argumentos del vano nombre de ciencia;

21 w hich some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.

la cual pretendiendo muchos, fueron descaminados acerca de la fe. La Gracia sea contigo. Amén.
