1 L et as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed.

Todos los que están bajo yugo como esclavos, consideren a sus propios amos como dignos de todo honor, para que el nombre de Dios y nuestra doctrina no sean blasfemados.

2 A nd they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort.

Y los que tienen amos que son creyentes, no les falten el respeto, porque son hermanos, sino sírvanles aún mejor, ya que son creyentes y amados los que se benefician de su servicio. Enseña y predica estos principios. Las doctrinas falsas y el amor al dinero

3 I f any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

Si alguno enseña una doctrina diferente y no se conforma a las sanas palabras, las de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad,

4 h e is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

está envanecido y nada entiende, sino que tiene un interés morboso en discusiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, blasfemias, malas sospechas,

5 w ranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.

y constantes rencillas entre hombres de mente depravada, que están privados de la verdad, que suponen que la piedad es un medio de ganancia.

6 B ut godliness with contentment is great gain:

Pero la piedad, en efecto, es un medio de gran ganancia cuando va acompañada de contentamiento.

7 f or we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out;

Porque nada hemos traído al mundo, así que nada podemos sacar de él.

8 b ut having food and covering we shall be therewith content.

Y si tenemos qué comer y con qué cubrirnos, con eso estaremos contentos.

9 B ut they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.

Pero los que quieren enriquecerse caen en tentación y lazo y en muchos deseos necios y dañosos que hunden a los hombres en la ruina y en la perdición.

10 F or the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Porque la raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero, por el cual, codiciándolo algunos, se extraviaron de la fe y se torturaron con muchos dolores. Exhortación y doxología

11 B ut thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Pero tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la perseverancia y la amabilidad.

12 F ight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

Pelea la buena batalla de la fe; echa mano de la vida eterna a la cual fuiste llamado, y de la que hiciste buena profesión en presencia de muchos testigos.

13 I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession;

Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y de Cristo Jesús, que dio testimonio de la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,

14 t hat thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

que guardes el mandamiento sin mancha ni reproche hasta la manifestación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

15 w hich in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

la cual manifestará a su debido tiempo el bienaventurado y único Soberano, el Rey de reyes y Señor de señores;

16 w ho only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen.

el único que tiene inmortalidad y habita en luz inaccesible; a quien ningún hombre ha visto ni puede ver. A El sea la honra y el dominio eterno. Amén. Instrucciones para los ricos

17 C harge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

A los ricos en este mundo, enséñales que no sean altaneros ni pongan su esperanza en la incertidumbre de las riquezas, sino en Dios, el cual nos da abundantemente todas las cosas para que las disfrutemos.

18 t hat they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Enséñales que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, generosos y prontos a compartir,

19 l aying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.

acumulando para sí el tesoro de un buen fundamento para el futuro, para que puedan echar mano de lo que en verdad es vida. Exhortación final y bendición

20 O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;

Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, y evita las palabrerías vacías y profanas, y las objeciones de lo que falsamente se llama ciencia,

21 w hich some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.

la cual profesándola algunos, se han desviado de la fe. La gracia sea con vosotros.
