1 N ow Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.

2 A nd after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.

y algunos años después descendió a Samaria para visitar a Acab. Y Acab mató muchas ovejas y bueyes para él y para el pueblo que estaba con él, y lo persuadió a que subiera contra Ramot de Galaad.

3 A nd Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.

Y Acab, rey de Israel, dijo a Josafat, rey de Judá: ¿Irás conmigo contra Ramot de Galaad? Y él le respondió: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo; estaremos contigo en la batalla.

4 A nd Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray thee, for the word of Jehovah.

Dijo además Josafat al rey de Israel: Te ruego que primero consultes la palabra del Señor.

5 T hen the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.

Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, cuatrocientos hombres, y les dijo: ¿Iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o debo desistir? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Dios la entregará en mano del rey.

6 B ut Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him?

Pero Josafat dijo: ¿No queda aún aquí algún profeta del Señor para que le consultemos?

7 A nd the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah: but I hate him; for he never prophesieth good concerning me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Todavía queda un hombre por medio de quien podemos consultar al Señor, pero lo aborrezco, porque nunca profetiza lo bueno en cuanto a mí, sino siempre lo malo. Es Micaías, hijo de Imla. Pero Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

8 T hen the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Micaías, hijo de Imla.

9 N ow the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos con sus mantos, en la era a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas estaban profetizando delante de ellos.

10 A nd Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith Jehovah, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until they be consumed.

Y Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, se había hecho cuernos de hierro y decía: Así dice el Señor: “Con éstos acornearás a los arameos hasta acabarlos.”

11 A nd all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.

Y todos los profetas profetizaban así, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad y tendrás éxito, pues el Señor la entregará en manos del rey.

12 A nd the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.

Y el mensajero que fue a llamar a Micaías le habló, diciendo: He aquí, las palabras de los profetas son unánimes en favor del rey. Por esto te ruego que tu palabra sea como la de uno de ellos, y hables favorablemente.

13 A nd Micaiah said, As Jehovah liveth, what my God saith, that will I speak.

Pero Micaías dijo: Vive el Señor, que lo que mi Dios me diga, eso hablaré.

14 A nd when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper; and they shall be delivered into your hand.

Y cuando llegó al rey, el rey le dijo: Micaías, ¿iremos a Ramot de Galaad a pelear, o debo desistir? El respondió: Sube y tendrás éxito, porque serán entregados en tu mano.

15 A nd the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou speak unto me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovah?

Entonces el rey le dijo: ¿Cuántas veces he de tomarte juramento de que no me digas más que la verdad en el nombre del Señor ?

16 A nd he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and Jehovah said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.

Y él respondió: Vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas sin pastor; y el Señor dijo: “Estos no tienen señor; que cada uno vuelva a su casa en paz.”

17 A nd the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te dije que no profetizaría lo bueno acerca de mí, sino lo malo?

18 A nd Micaiah said, Therefore hear ye the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

Respondió Micaías: Por tanto, escuchad la palabra del Señor. Yo vi al Señor sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba a su derecha y a su izquierda.

19 A nd Jehovah said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

Y el Señor dijo: “¿Quién inducirá a Acab, rey de Israel, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad?” Y uno decía de una manera, y otro de otra.

20 A nd there came forth a spirit, and stood before Jehovah, and said, I will entice him. And Jehovah said unto him, Wherewith?

Entonces se adelantó un espíritu y se puso delante del Señor, y dijo: “Yo lo induciré.” Y el Señor le dijo: “¿Cómo?”

21 A nd he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice him, and shalt prevail also: go forth, and do so.

Y él respondió: “Saldré y seré un espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas.” Entonces El dijo: “ Lo inducirás y también prevalecerás. Ve y hazlo así.”

22 N ow therefore, behold, Jehovah hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets; and Jehovah hath spoken evil concerning thee.

Y ahora, he aquí, el Señor ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en boca de estos tus profetas, pues el Señor ha decretado el mal contra ti.

23 T hen Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of Jehovah from me to speak unto thee?

Entonces se acercó Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla, y dijo: ¿Cómo pasó el Espíritu del Señor de mí para hablarte a ti?

24 A nd Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

Respondió Micaías: He aquí, tú lo verás aquél día en que entres en un aposento interior para esconderte.

25 A nd the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

Y el rey de Israel dijo: Tomad a Micaías y devolvedlo a Amón, gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, hijo del rey;

26 a nd say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

y decid: “Así dice el rey: ‘Echad a éste en la cárcel, y alimentadlo con poco pan y poca agua hasta que yo vuelva en paz.’”

27 A nd Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, ye peoples, all of you.

Y Micaías dijo: Si en verdad vuelves en paz, el Señor no ha hablado por mí. Y añadió: Oíd, pueblos todos.

28 S o the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

Y subió el rey de Israel con Josafat, rey de Judá, contra Ramot de Galaad.

29 A nd the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré para entrar en la batalla, pero tú ponte tus ropas reales. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó y entraron en la batalla.

30 N ow the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

Pero el rey de Aram había ordenado a los capitanes de sus carros, diciendo: No peleéis contra chico ni contra grande, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

31 A nd it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they turned about to fight against him: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and Jehovah helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

Y sucedió que cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Este es el rey de Israel; y se desviaron para pelear contra él. Pero Josafat clamó, y el Señor vino en su ayuda, y Dios los apartó de él,

32 A nd it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

pues al ver los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, dejaron de perseguirlo.

33 A nd a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the armor: wherefore he said to the driver of the chariot, Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am sore wounded.

Y un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel por entre la juntura de la armadura. Y él dijo al cochero: Da la vuelta y sácame de la batalla pues estoy gravemente herido.

34 A nd the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even; and about the time of the going down of the sun he died.

Pero la batalla arreció aquel día, y el rey de Israel fue sostenido en el carro frente a los arameos hasta la tarde; y murió al ponerse el sol.
