1 I n that day Jehovah with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will slay the monster that is in the sea.

Aquel día el Señor castigará con su espada feroz, grande y poderosa, a Leviatán, serpiente huidiza, a Leviatán, serpiente tortuosa, y matará al dragón que vive en el mar.

2 I n that day: A vineyard of wine, sing ye unto it.

Aquel día se dirá: Una viña de vino; de ella cantad.

3 I Jehovah am its keeper; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

Yo, el Señor, soy su guardador; a cada momento la riego. Para que nadie la dañe, la guardo noche y día.

4 W rath is not in me: would that the briers and thorns were against me in battle! I would march upon them, I would burn them together.

No tengo furor. Si alguien me da zarzas y espinos en batalla, los pisotearé, los quemaré completamente,

5 O r else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; yea, let him make peace with me.

a no ser que él confíe en mi protección, que haga la paz conmigo, que conmigo haga la paz.

6 I n days to come shall Jacob take root; Israel shall blossom and bud; and they shall fill the face of the world with fruit.

En los días venideros Jacob echará raíces, Israel florecerá y brotará, y llenará el mundo entero de fruto.

7 H ath he smitten them as he smote those that smote them? or are they slain according to the slaughter of them that were slain by them?

¿Acaso con la herida del que lo hirió fue herido, o como con la matanza de sus muertos fue muerto?

8 I n measure, when thou sendest them away, thou dost content with them; he hath removed them with his rough blast in the day of the east wind.

Contendiste con él desterrándolo, expulsándolo. Con su soplo violento lo echó en el día del viento solano.

9 T herefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, so that the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more.

Así pues, con esto la iniquidad de Jacob será perdonada, y este será todo el fruto del perdón de su pecado: cuando haga todas las piedras del altar como piedras de cal pulverizadas; cuando no estén en pie las Aseras y los altares de incienso.

10 F or the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

Porque solitaria está la ciudad fortificada, una morada desamparada y abandonada como un desierto; allí pastará el becerro, y allí se echará y se alimentará de sus ramas.

11 W hen the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off; the women shall come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have compassion upon them, and he that formed them will show them no favor.

Cuando su ramaje está seco, es quebrado, vienen las mujeres y le prenden fuego. Porque no es pueblo de discernimiento, por tanto su Hacedor no le tendrá compasión, y su Creador no tendrá piedad de él.

12 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, that Jehovah will beat off his fruit from the flood of the River unto the brook of Egypt; and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.

Y sucederá en aquel día que el Señor trillará desde la corriente del Eufrates hasta el torrente de Egipto, y vosotros seréis recogidos uno a uno, oh hijos de Israel.

13 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown; and they shall come that were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and they that were outcasts in the land of Egypt; and they shall worship Jehovah in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

Sucederá también en aquel día que se tocará una gran trompeta, y los que perecían en la tierra de Asiria y los desterrados en la tierra de Egipto, vendrán y adorarán al Señor en el monte santo en Jerusalén.
